This Riad is in the center of Essaouira just steps from the port and beach. Each traditional Moroccan room at the Riad Chakir Mogador has a private bathroom and a sitting area.
Score from 447 reviews Very good
Boasting a superb view over the medina and situated in the heart of Essaouira's historic centre, this enchanting guest house is set around a luminous patio, which leads to a Moroccan living room.

The Riad l'Ayel is situated in the heart of the medina (historic quarter), just a few minutes from the beach in Essaouira. It offers accommodations with private bathrooms.

This is my second time to Riad Etoile D'essaouira and even better than before. They helped us to get into the medina from the airport, very professional.Clean, excellent breakfast, very helpful and friendly host. For sure will be back.
Located inside the Medina. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast on the roof terrace. Various room sizes. Some accommodate 4 guests. Great riad for families, group of friends, budget oriented travelers.
Breakfast , fresh oj
No English tv Channels , no news cnn tooooooooooooo much , many porn sites on reg tv
The hospitality was great. We had our room at the 3rth floor, but our luggage was carried. The room was nice, the bed was allright, could have been a bit bigger, but all over very nice. They cleaned every day and we felt at home. It is located in the middle of the medina and we only had to step out of the door to enjoy Essaouira. I am always very early in the morning but as soon they saw me a cup of coffee was fixed!
It is very windy in Essaouira and when you're not in the sun early in the morning it is unpleasant. The terrace where breakfast is served has very nice parasols. Unfortunately almost everyone had to sit in the wind and shadow which wasn't too comfortable. And although it is common it would be nice to serve next to the sweets some other things with breakfast
Lovely effort made by the owner and staff, one of the best places to stay inside the medina, free internet, lovely breakfasts on roof terrace, very quiet ryad (guest house with about 20 rooms located around spiral staircase with some eating area downstairts). Right in the heart of the Souk (market) but you can't even hear / see it if you don't want to...
No tea making facilities and you can't get any passed the breakfast time. Advertised free bycicle rental is rather expensive, and you just do not need it there, many staff do not speak any English.
WiFi almost non-functional, only on terrace
The place itself was beautiful, breakfast
Difficult to find the place, a man had to guided us
Great breakfast! Good location! The room was plenty big and clean! The internet was pretty inconsistent, but overall a really great stay!
The staff were all very helpful and provided clear details both before (e mail) and during my stay. The location is really good being inside the Medina and a short walk from loads of things to see and do. The Riad also helped with booking activities such as horse riding- which was an excellent experience. Inside the Riad is very ornate and well decorated, my room was nice, comfortable, warm and quiet - so a good night's sleep - followed by a nice breakfast up on the Terrace where you could look out across the Medina - great start to the day. Would very much recommend to people to stay - and there are lots of different sizes of rooms to cater for people sharing.
The riad is quite lovely inside. I especially loved the colors and decor of my room on the third floor. Breakfast in the morning was tastey, with bread, croissants eggs and Moroccan crepes. Clean, comfy and easy to locate.
My friend couldn't get the hot water to work in our room, but I didn't try, so perhaps she just got confused.
Hospitality.Excellent dinner. Good advice on hikes. Not pushy about guides.Room cosy, bed comfy.Roof terrace. Hot water.
In winter(december)rooms very cold and no heating. A sort of small fire/incinerator in bedroom had to be constantly stoked with chopped wood for warmth. On second night the fire in the main living/dining room was not lit so very cold and forced to retreat early to bed.
Staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable - nothing was too much trouble. Advised on taxi's and restaurants. Much appreciated
Was clean. Close to shopping.
No one offered to help carry my luggage up three flights of stairs. Satellite tv was a joke. Ad was they take credit cards, but when I checked out I was told the machine didn't work, until I told them I had no other way to pay. On the last day after breakfast on sick and ended up throwing up all day. There is no restaurant at the Riad. Lot of noise on the front room.
Exceptionally friendly staff, went out of their way to serve an early breakfast for us at 6.30 am!
Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great position and substantial breakfasts all at a very reasonable rate. Sitting area and roof terrace also welcome.
We stayed one night, the Riad was well situated, clean and comfortable. Great value and the breakfast was excellent. The location is right in the Souks, so can be a bit noisey, this wasnt a problem for us but maybe for others.
Friendly staff. Good location in the middle of the old city, very vibrant surroundings, golden chance to mix wit the local people and enjoy the traditional Moroccan life.
- very friendly and helpfull employees, all of them! - 24 hr reception is great - very beautiful nicely decorated rooms. - breakfast at the terras untill 11 hr, which is good for sleeping in late.
- it is hard to get the right temperature of the shower. (But that could also be my fould :))
Location was ideal for my stay
The price seemed expensive for the type of accomodation it was
Very pretty riad. Comfortable & clean rooms right in the heart of the bustling medina. Cool August sleep even though no air con. Great terrace breakfast and we ate our own lunch here after shopping in the markets. All staff most helpful and approachable. We were sad we could only stay for one night.
Location excellent and Hoda gave us a very warm and friendly welcome. Allowed us to cancel one night's stay out of four.
Room was small and did not have a patio despite claiming to.very basic premises and quite shabby. Noisy. Bike hire was not free, despite advert saying it would be. Terrace v shabby.
