Everything at riad gallery 49 was simply amazing. The rooms were decorated and presented with such detail, the food was incredible and the staff were so so friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
The welcoming, the staff and the warm attention
The local young men in the Souk who try and offer their services as guides when you are lost and are very pushy and sometimes very rude.
The lovely family who run it couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly
A small door along the narrow streets of Marrakesh open you to this enchanted riad where time seems to be stopped to offer you a moment of peace after the crowdy city. The staff host you very kindly from the beginning and give importance to all the details (from cleaning to candels in your room). All is perfectly token in care. Don't miss also the experience of the dinner!
The effort made by the staff to make your stay a wonderful experience was incredible. The quality of the food was the best I have ever had in Morocco.
The room was tidied every time we left it and our stuff folded and put away if left on the bed or lying around which was cute but maybe a bit too much. Could be perceived as intrusive. We didn't mind too much though.
Riad 49 was a really great little place located close to the Jemaa el Fna the lively main square in Marrakech as well as the medina and the souks. The stuff is extremely friendly and very supportive. On the first day they walked us to the main square and showed some sights on the way there. They also helped us pick and book some trips outside of Marrakech. The rooms are very clean and tidy and thoughtfully decorated in a Moroccan style. The rooftop terrace was also superb and you could relax there on one of the beds and enjoy some sun and some mint tea The included breakfast was really good. We had some bread and pancakes with different types of jam, a fried egg and fruit salad, coffee/tea and freshly pressed orange juice (I am yet to find better fresh orange juice). We also tried the hammam and enjoyed it a lot.
We had the best time stay in Riad Gallery 49. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and oh so attentive - they even cleaned and arranged our room several times a day! Breakfast was wonderful and served up on the roof terrace - it really was the height on luxury in a calm oasis in the middle of the bustling city. On our last day it was my partner's birthday and the girls arranged a big birthday surprise for him with cake and singing and balloons! What an experience. Thank you very much!
Not a big deal, but a door on the bathroom could improve things. A bit of a walk into the centre through a maze of back streets - ok once you get used to it but very easy to get lost!
Beautiful small riad, lovely charming staff. The service they provided was impeccable! The breakfasts were amazing and the facilities so comfortable that we were reluctant to leave for a day of sight seeing. I would thoroughly recommend!
We stayed at three different riads during our trip to Morocco. Our stay at Riad Gallery 49 was the most memorable of these three. I've never experienced such service and hospitality. The ladies completely spoiled us with the food, lemon tea and rose petals. They're very warm and nice people, and you will really feel welcome in this place! The room was not very big, but clean and comfortable. The rooftop terrace is amazing, with the view to the Atlas mountains. The location is also very nice, walking distance from the souks and the square, but still quiet and safe area.
Everything, especially the way that we were looked after, with wonderful hospitality and thoughtfulness
Wonderful Riad, with great hospitality the girls were great and worked so hard. we were fed so well, sheets were changed daily and finished with rose petals
the Riad was way above all the other roads I've stayed in and the staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make you feel at home
The mattress was a bit hard but still somewhat comfortable. Two days after arriving they said there was a problem with the credit card machine and requested us to pay cash, either in euro or dirham! So, be prepared!
This Riad is located in the Marrakesh Medina, in a very quiet area at a walking distance from everything you will want to see during your stay. The people at the Riad is very friendly and attentive to costumers, without being too intrusive. We stayed there for 7 days and we always felt welcomed. We used the transfer service provided by the Riad and we advise all to do the same, because to find it in the tortuous streets of the Medina is not easy. However, after being guided there the first time, we were able to find our way without any problem. And despite all you may think and feel at first, even the tortuous and bad lit streets of the Marrakesh Medina are very safe. Our room was a bit small but very comfortable. The room has air conditioning but no TV set (we don't need it anyway!). The free wireless internet worked great. Pancakes, freshly squeezed orange juice, cream, fruit jams, honey, olive oil, freshly baked traditional bread, butter, coffee, milk, egg, traditional mint tea, fresh fruit,... a truly everyday breakfast feast served in the terrace, in the top of the Riad, with a fabulous view of Marrakesh rooftops and the Atlas mountains in the background! The all Riad was spotless clean. We had our towels and bed linens changed everyday! They also provide dinner meals on request. We didn't try it because we don't eat much at dinner! In sum, a very good and positive experience.
Mint tea, room, staff, food,
This Riad is far enough from the main square to be able to breathe peacefully but close enough to feel that you are in the heart of things. Ghizlane is friendly and welcoming, and Fatima is attuned and attentive. As two independent female travellers we felt safe and in good hands. The Riad is clean, with feminine touches and an authentic and unintrusive atmosphere. You will not be hassled into unwanted extras and excursions, although that can be arranged if you wish it. Bottled water and tangerines were provided in the rooms, together with hairdryer, cotton buds, soap, shampoo and shower gel. The breakfasts were abundant and varied; my intolerance of gluten was accommodated with grace and ease. In a city that gives female travellers considerable opportunity to hone assertiveness skills, the riad offered a calm and peaceful oasis that over the course of a week began to feel like home. A tap at the door not long after returning signalled a tray of tea brought quietly, with a smile and perfect timing. The riad is not too far off the main drag and consequently once you have done the walk through the twisting street to the riad a couple of times, there is little danger of getting lost. We would thoroughly recommend this riad as a perfect base for women travelling independently or as friends. Top tip when asking for directions in the street: most local women of any age will freely help if you have adequate French.
The thing that impressed us most was the hospitality and the fact that they really tried everything to make our stay memorable. And it was memorable!
Beds were quite hard (mattrass) and short (for tall people) Can only be reached via some small alleys. Although it's probably safe, it's kinda creepy after dark (if alone). Drinks are expensive (5 euro/beer)
Cleanliness & Friendly staff WiFi good quality Good breakfast (good choice and variety of food) Walking distance of all 'main' highlights in the Medina Quiet at night (except the usual calls for prayer from the mosque) You can get drinks her if you want (beer, wine). You can have dinner here (we didn't) and Hamman is apparently good (other guests told us, we didn't use it).
the rose petals scattered in the bedroom the hammam the staff
Our stay at Gallery 49 was one of our favourite experiences of Morocco. The girls at Gallery 49 provide the most amazing welcome into their Riad. The rooms are beautiful and really make you feel like you are home! We felt like we were royalty the whole time during our stay. The Riad is a little difficult to find the first time, so make arrangements with the girls to meet you and show you the way.
I had the best stay at Riad Gallery 49, Samira and Ghizlane were great hosts and made us feel very special. We were even invited to dine with them for their Ramadan meal, which was super tasty. I will highly recommend this Riad to other travelers.
The Riad was an excellent accommodation. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond everyday to help answer questions, set up tours, or make recommendations. The food was delicious and the rooms were comfortable. We would book there again without hesitation.
My boyfriend and I absolutely loved staying at Riad 49! I've been lucky enough to stay at many diffrent places around the world and this was by far one of the best places I've ever stayed. Ghizlane and her wonderful staff made us feel like VIP guests everyday with the hugest/best breakfast in morroco (I'm not even kidding you'll be stuffed) new robes & slippers, delicious mint tea, sweet & savory snacks all day, hot showers, making our room up lovingly and just being available 24/7 to our needs. They even made the most romantic dinner for us on the roof top terrace and the food was absolutely to die for, the best chicken pastilla in morocco for sure! The hammam was brilliant and excellent value and the atmosphere in the riad is so relaxing you'll never want to leave...in fact we had to pull ourselves away as we came to stay 1 night and ended up staying 4!! Unforgettable stay girls thankyou so much!!!
The Riad Gallery 49 is very beatiful, clean and comphortable small hotel. The people are friendly and helpful. I went to Marrakech alone but I didn`t feel lonely there is nice like family atmosphere and the owner of the riad Ghizlane went with me for sightseeing when I want. The breakfast is delicious.
