On the day we left, the owner disconnected the card payment terminal, and left a new staff member to take payments for the day. This action is with the idea to have all payment in cash, to avoid taxes and credit card fees. They claimed all of the systems weren't working, to which I pointed out that they were lying. They then claimed the card reader worked on wifi, which I pointed out was false (experience with these devices). Only when I demanded that the manager come, did they miraculously discover that the system was unplugged. This sort of deceit is rather frustrating. If they only wanted to be paid in cash, then merely state that from the beginning and don't treat your clients like imbeciles.
Ideally located on a main thoroughfare in the medina, when you leave the quiet riad, you step into the bustle of Fez. The courtyard was pleasant, and the view from the terrace was beautiful. The calls to prayer can barely be heard in the riad. The breakfast was consistently tasty.
