Riad Darko is in the heart of the Essaouira’s medina (historic quarter), on a quiet street, 1700 ft from the beach. It offers a hammam and a restaurant.

Boasting a superb view over the medina and situated in the heart of Essaouira's historic centre, this enchanting guest house is set around a luminous patio, which leads to a Moroccan living room.

Great location Friendly staff Good value from money
The rooms were small and very dark
Riad is very well located, quite easy to find. Staff is helpful and speaks English which is not so common in Morocco.
Hygiene, staff impolite, cockroach in bathroom, towels didn't look clean, in the night unsafe feeling: a lot of knocking on riad's door. Wifi only available outside the room. Breakfast really poor: only bread butter and old sugary honey. Unclean cutlery.
Well located right in the center of the medina. It has a fair-good breakfast included and a nice living room. The staff was nice and really helpful. There's also a nice terrace where we used to spend some free time.
we were on the second floor and there was no wi-fi there. Also we had coackroaches in the bathroom. The twin room is small and there was not place to put our stuff ... We had to leave our stuff (cellphones, books, bags...) always on the floor, there was not a single table to place things. Cleaning the room means just exchanging towels, giving more toilette paper and taking the trash. If the rooms is dirty, it will stay dirty. The room was warm and we couldn't leave the window open without other people being able to see everything inside... So we always had to leave it closed and get used to sauna-like environment.
The hotel is just off a side substreet, quite a narrow turning which we stumbled on after asking for many directions. The hotel inside is beautiful with the small fountain in the middle. The wifi is only limited to the front reception, which when your room is on the 3rd floor can be a tad restricting.
Internet access was a bit limiting. The shower was refreshing, yet found the room got a bit too hot in the heat. Still would definitely return
the decoration! and location
humidity in the room!
We booked this hotel based on location, since we were only staying 2 nights
Compare to other riads in Marrakesh that we stayed in it was not good value for money. Clean bedsheets are a must for comfortable sleep.
I found the facilities good and it´s a lovely Riad and the staff are very nice too. The first night they did not have a room for 3 and they gave us two rooms.
The breakfast was continental and not Moroccan which was a bit disappointing.
nothing the place was filthy
The rooms were damp smelly and dirty. There were ants and bugs everywhere I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Breakfast was served with a heap of cat poo to look at in the corner of the room
Location good. Restaurant Des Reves next door excellent
My room smelt badly of stale cigarette smoke then barbecued fish from next door restaurant
Clean, Nice decor Comfortable Rooms with working shower
Receptionist/Lady of the House came across as quite unfriendly.
Nadia, at reception was the nicest person we met in Morocco. Her smile and helpful attitude made every day at Riad Jemalhi Mogador a joyful experience.
Hot and cold taps in the shower were plumbed the wrong way, which took a lot of cold water to figure out. Wifi only available in reception area.
The staff was very nice and the location couldnt be better. The riad is lovely, there was ot too many people (beginning april) so it was really quiet and chilling.
the butter they give for the breakfast. I never saw something so disgusting in my life hihihihi. But I believe this is ONLY a detail and the rest is perfect.
great location in the medina; friendly, helpful staff.
it is UNACCEPTABLE for booking.com to say that wifi is available 'in all areas' and free of charge and then find out you have to walk down to the lobby to get a connection - misleading and untrue. also, the breakfast was horrible. a couple of variations of bread is not a breakfast and the coffee and orange juice were not up snuff. take your shower early because they run out of hot water by 11AM. the floors in the rooms need a good clean and people need hangers for their clothes in the closet.
This lovely little riad is right in the centre of the Medina and is perfect for a short break in this pretty town. The staff are really helpful and friendly and the rooms, though small are good and clean. It is surrounded by resturants and the souk is only an alley away where you can get wonderful fresh fruit, bread and veg. This is very good value and there is a perfectly good breakfast provided as well.
Pillows were a bit lumpy and although it says there is a kettle in the room, there isn't. But the staff are happy to provide a thermos flask of hot water if you have your own tea and coffee, which we did.
Good location, easy to find. Best what you can get for such amount of money. Definitely would stay here again. Room are nice, staff very helpfull.
The only thing I could complain is poor breakfast and the wifi works only on the first floor.
Great localization. Big shower in room. Nice moroccan desing and decoration. Very clean. Friendly personel
The bathroom was clean but we felt an unpleasant smell of mustisness. WIFI signal was weak in the room.
Outstanding place for this price, really friendly&nice staff, all the time ready to help you.
The staff was very kind, they were helpful. The riad is very beautiful. It is in the centre, but it is so quiet. The room was nice, the bathroom was OK. The breakfast was OK, it was coffee with bread with jam and a little pancake.
Khadijah at the reception was lovely but she is there for limited hours. Rest of the time staff who don't speak English.
We are a Couple with a 10 year old and we thought we were getting a bargain when we booked a suite in this place thru booking.com . Two bedrooms, a sitting room and en suite ! Should have known there's no free lunch and u get what u pay for. We double checked the room etc. directly with the hotel and thought well,it won't be the fanciest, but how bad can it be with all that space for us ! And we were shocked. Am sure it's great value for money for folks looking for the bare minimum but we could have easily spent more and stayed somewhere much nicer. Just didn't think you can go wrong with so much of space, but u can. The place is filthy, run down, damp smell thruout the Riyad. The roof top suite was no exception ! The main bedroom had a glass wall with no curtains, but a sheet thrown across which does not entirely cover the wall ! Anyone and everyone can look in. Paint, plaster chipped, peeled everywhere which makes the place look filthy and on top of that it is actually filthy. Bathroom has a sink which leaks and clogs ! The pot has a broken flush. Walls are a very dark grey with white water spots from seepage in every bit of wall and ceiling. On top of that not enough lighting. Shower inside the bathtub with no shower curtain. As a result of that when u shower the entire bathroom is sprayed with water and nowhere for that water drain out ! I couldn't for the life of me comprehend how someone at the hotel did not get this basic fact in all this time ! Every chrome fixture rusted and stained, you would cringe to touch anything ! The city was so lovely, that we did not want to waste a minute of our limited time there looking for another riad, but I promised to review it so that folks who are not on a tight budget are not misled into booking this riad thinking u are getting a bargain ! As for location, it's great but the medina is so small that any riad inside it will not be off in its location.
