Fred is a man with a big heart and it shows in everything at the Riad. Warm and welcoming from the time we entered. He, Kathy and their 5 kids treated us like guests of the family. They would baby sit our son while we get a massage. They would chat with us regularly about how our day was and helped set up or modify everything for the following day. Adil, Kareem, Fatima, and everyone else in the team struck a personal chord with us. For the beautiful ambiance, quality of food, stellar service and personal attention, we could not believe that it was so affordable. My wife, kid and I loved Morocco and our stay at Riad Laaroussa was easily the most memorable part of our tourism in Morocco. Would recommend to my friends, and would certainly come back here.
The staff was very friendly and helped us whenever help was needed. We were taken to the restaurants, were picked up etc...
Sometimes the restaurant area was a little too cold. But one can fix this easily.
Trusted and friendly staff, ambiance, delicious meal, and strategic location
The staff was extremely helpful and the overall Riad space was stunning. Our suite was spacious and luxurious and the common areas were relaxing and stunning. Dinner on the roof was on the of the best meals we had in Morocco.
Recommend hammam and massage, staff are so friendly and really good fun! Owner lovely, takes time to talk to all guests individually. It is a very luxurious riad.
Watch out for the street kids!!!! They are scavengers.
Riad Laaroussa was a totally delightful experience. It is a handsome Riad in the center of the Medina. Some of the tiling and woodwork were obviously original, but it had been seamlessly renovated so that you couldn't tell where the old left off or where the new began. We felt coddled and cared for as if we were senior members of the family. Highly recommended.
Besides the incredible location we absolutely loved the ambience, From the moment the Riad door was open you felt at home, so warmly welcomed.. sitting in the courtyard under the orange trees was luxury plus... an Oasis Enormous thank you to Fred, Cathy and the incredible team that run Riad Laaroussa for making our stay in Fes so memorable, we quickly became part of the 'Laaroussa' family. The Riad is special. Beautifully furnished, a fantastic renovation of an old building. We had the Red Room.. (up a steep flight of stairs) it was large, lots of light, very comfortable bed, very spacious bathroom. No TV, fridge, phone, or tea making facilities. We just loved this, as this is what makes staying in a Riad so unique. If you wanted to put wine etc in their fridge ... not a problem The Laaroussa team would go out of there way to do anything for you. Dinner & breakfast on the roof terrace was magic. It was a total treat to have a massage and experience the Hammam We would definitely stay here again !!! Recommend Riad Laaroussa highly 10/10
Having to leave !!!
The attention to detail, the service, the hospitality were over the top. Fred and Cathy treated us like their family and made the experience better than any 5 star hotel. I simply mentioned once how much I loved the local samosas, and that afternoon, he sent 4 freshly fried ones to my room as a gift. When my wife felt a bit ill, Cathy provided all sorts of local and European remedies to make her feel better. We truly felt like we were staying at the home of old friends. Putting aside the incredible service, the rooms are enormous, beautiful and reflect the authenticity of Fes. Finally, breakfast (included in the room rate) was served on the roof top, over looking the city! We loved our experience.
The staff and the management (owners) made you feel at home right away. The Riad is beautiful and is really well maintained. I highly recommend this place if you were to visit Fes. Also ask for Farida if you need a guide, she is really excellent.
This is probably not related to the Riad but the ride from the train station to the Riad was too expensive for a 10 minutes ride.
On this trip, we stayed in 3 hotels in Morocco and 4 hotels in Europe. This was by far the most exceptional hotel we stayed in. Could not agree more with the other views. I cannot recommend enough to stay here.
Somewhat difficult to find.
Riad Laaroussa is an absolute haven of peace and tranquility in the middle of Fes Medina. Although it'd be a little tricky to find on your own, as soon as you walk through the doors, you know that you're going to enjoy your stay there. The rooms themselves are spacious, beautifully decorated and unlike many of the places we stayed in July very very fresh. The real gem of the Laaroussa however is the staff who were the best we came accross in our stay in Morocco! Not only was every consideration given to our stay but they are genuinely the warmest, friendliest people we came across in our two week stay in Morocco. I really couldn't thank them enough for how much they made us enjoy the experience of staying in this beautiful place. I would recommend highly this Riad to anyone.
The stairs to reach the terrace (where breakfast is served) is very steep and not recommendable for older travellers.
Comfortable to come home to after being in the medina
No pool to relax by and it was a fairly long walk to get luggage in and out of medina
Absolutely beautiful Riad in the centre of Fez Medina. The staff are unbelievably friendly, rooms beautifully furnished and clean and the food - to die for!! Great roof top terrace for drinks and dinner. Very central location off the 'main street' meaning it is hard to get lost exploring the medina. Great guides and drivers - would recommend the day trip to Chefchaouen and the cooking class at the Riad - a very special experience. Can't wait to go back!
Nothing - everything was just perfect - an authentic Moroccan experience
Everything was wonderful. Staff made my daughter and I feel like we were guests in their home. The building is stunning. I would definitely go back.
charming hostess, gracious and solicitous staff, spacious rooms, elegant ambience
The building itself was absolutely gorgeous. Our room looked and felt like it was out of a fairytale. The rooftop overlooking that part of the medina was a great way to start the day with breakfast, and to end with as the call to prayer echoes over the city. They connected us with an excellent guide who really opened the beauty of Fez to us.
I have traveled to over 60 countries, and the staff at the Riad Laaroussa is BEYOND TREMENDOUS!! The service is impeccable! Owners, Cathy & Fred, General Manager Kareem, and their dynamic staff have created the new standard for excellence in hotel operations! I was sick one of the three days of my stay, and I thought I was at home with my family. I was given medicine, great food and constant attention to ensure my comfort - well above what is expected of a hotel! And, to top it off, we received an upgraded room upon check-in for the same price. I could fit half my own home into that suite! There is absolutely no reason to stay anywhere else when you can stay at the very best - THANK YOU, Riad Laaroussa!
Staff Breakfast Building Terrace Location Cleanliness Peaceful Decoration
No bathroom door in our room No wifi in Brown room
Very calming and relaxing. All the staff made you feel very welcome and nothing was a problem. They organised driver to meet us at train station and a guide for the medina. Would definitely recommend this Riad.
The bed was a bit hard and room dark but these were only minor issues
Coming to Riad Laaroussa feels different than a regular hotel. The experience is much more personal which is definitely nice for a change. The rooms are unique and look great and the overall hotel just looks stunning and allows you to come to peace in the heart of the sometimes overwhelming medina. We would recommend everyone the guide they arranged for us. The staff was really helpful at any time/request. The owners also really looked into a probably unusual request I made without dismissing it immediately which was nice (I asked whether I could pay in Bitcoin). Overall: excellent stay and recommended!
Since it's an old building some things didn't work as they should: warm water wasn't always available and 2 lamps didn't work. We experienced these as minor disturbances.
Everything from the staff to the services delivered
In the night the surroundings can be dark but not dangerous
More than a place to stay, Riad Laaroussa is hospitable and charming. Beautifully restored and styled with expertise, my stay at this Riad was restorative and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. Great advice and quick arrangements for local trips and guides. Fantastic.
I had to leave to continue my journey!
Food was exquisite and the attitude of the staff was excellent. Nothing was impossible. Very flexible with check-out as well. We definitely recommend this place.
We stayed at Riad Laaroussa in mid November and we loved everything about this hotel. We wanted to stay in a riad that would offer us something different to a big size conventional 4 star hotel. However, every riad page I opened on booking.com bordered between charming and just being old. Riad Laaroussa was the only riad that looked very stylish and clean inside while not losing the classy charm of traditional decor. From the moment we arrived, we were never disappointed. Moreover, I was very impressed that there was seamless communication between the staff members. Often, when I request something at a hotel, it gets lost between the staff shifts. However, at RL, every little information or request was communicated to the next staff. All the staff appeared genuinely welcoming and we could see hospitality in little things even when we did not ask for it. For instance, when we came back from a rainy walk, the fire would be already lit in the fire place in our room. Applause to Fred and Cathy for putting together a super team, and applause to every staff! Special thanks to Adir who was so patient with all our requests. RL made our impression of Fez a very special one.
