Situated at the heart of the famous Marrakesh Medina, near the souks (markets) and a short ride from the Jemaa El Fna, this attractive house has been restored respecting Moroccan traditions.

Tranquility, beautiful decor, relaxing roof terrace, excellent staff - helpful, knowledgeable and charming. Comfortable and luxurious rooms.
I can't find a single fault with Le Coq Berbere
First off, great location in the heart of the Medina, yet easy enough to find your way in and out of. Once you find your way, only about 10-12 minutes by foot to Djemaa el-Fna. Like many other riads, it's a quiet escape from the bustle of the medina. Second, the staff was incredibly helpful, with the manager Bashir offering to help our friends purchase their bus tickets and them preparing a pot of coffee for our early (6am) departure. Lastly, it was a great value as a lovely, cozy, quaint riad, with a relaxing rooftop terrace. There's certainly fancier riads out there, but le coq Berbere was more than comfortable for us for two nights.
While they say breakfast is available between 8 and 10, we experienced a bit of a wait (say 30-45 minutes) before the cook arrived to prepare a simple buffet of Moroccan pancakes, jam, coffee, yogurt, fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, and cake.
- perfection location in the heart of the medina - super friendly staff - lovely rooftop and lots of cosy sitting areas - great breakfast
the map that they draw for u at the arrival means that u are in a genuine country
I can recommend the riad to everyone whos seeks some time off from the noisy and crowded streets of the Medina - it really is an oasis of peace within the Medina. The staff is awesome, always helpful and smiling, especially Bashir is one of the finest people I have ever met. 5 stars for the riad and its staff!!!
Nice looking Riad. Lots of seating area. Friendly female staff.
It was noisy, you can hear everything from outside on the streets. The air-conditioning needs cleaning as there was a strange smell when we turned it on. The rudeness from a particular member of staff. When asked by the owner where I would like to sit for breakfast I chose to sit downstairs and this was fine. When the guy came to serve my breakfast and asked where I would like to sit I said here is good. (I was even told by him it was ok to sit anywhere the night before!) He then said something about upstairs, I said the owner said it was ok to sit here. The guy then just stormed off, came back with my breakfast with an angry face. I felt like I had to apologies for causing him trouble. I think his behaviour is disgusting, one of the worst service I've had. This was a shame because the Riad was nice. I chose to stay here because of the high ratings. But the poor service ruined it.
Riad perfect in terms of decoration and amenities, but supreme by the staff who work there and the willingness to help at all times. Very good option if you want to enjoy the madness of the Medina. Thank you very much for all!
Lovely Riad with a beautiful roof terrace and helpful local staff.
The door to our room didn't lock properly, which made us uncomfortable.
Very very loud - Italian lady runs the place, and there was constant commotion (many Italians coming in and out throughout the day, talking loudly, etc). Hard to sleep as a result.
roof terrace was beautiful. Our room was clean. Personnel were relatively friendly
the decoration of our room.
Centrally located and close to all the main sights, shopping, restaurants. Once inside the riad was an oasis of quiet and calm - very welcome after a long day haggling in the souks! The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Very clean and tasteful decor, with a quirky touch that gave it real character and charm.
We had the best stay in Marrakech thanks to this wonderful Riad, the staff was so helpful and nice, we felt like at home. Nothing went wrong. Its incredible how it has such a good quality/price, the design of the riad is so beautiful. Relaxing and functional, very close to a luxury hotel. We surely recomend this place, to all ages couples.
Very nice place with friendly atmosphere. Great base for exploration of the Medina. Everything was just perfect!
I can't find anything
Great location in the medina and nice and easy to get to the square and the souks etc. Helpful staff who gave us tips on Marrakech and were generally very friendly!
Very clean, confortable bed, hot shower, helpfull staff!
Stayed here for two nights. Perfect Riad with a nice atmosphere and roof view. Very kind and fun staff; always smiling (even at 4:30 AM) and nothing is too much trouble for them. We were not treated as clients, but as guests! Central location in Medina. Breakfast was OK. Highly recommended.
Make sure you know the route to the Riad in advance (e.g. Google maps). Ignore anyone on the streets offering 'help' or 'advice'. Taxi's at the airport try to charge you 150-200 MAD to the Medina. After negotiation 70 or 80 is also possible.
Staff was extremely helpful. We enjoyed a lay in and they served us breakfast even though it was past 12pm. The hotel manager was very helpful with booking events when needed and with advising what are the key places to see and the best way of getting there. Terrace was really nice as well. We loved the Riad. Definetily a good choice.
Because shower didn't have a curtain the bathroom floor got flooded after shower which wasn't the best but managable.
The whole Riad here was an overall excellent experience. from the 3 nights on arrival to last night at the end of the trip...The staff were all smiles and very helpful. breakfast was great on the roof, wi fi signal up there too !, rooms were excellent, well furnished.. all be it the scifano room was smaller than expected and hard to move with bags being unpacked and ready for an expedition. Majorelle, Blue and Rouge were excellent rooms. Youseff was a star and all smiles as were all the staff, a dinner on site was excellent ( ask for this ), breakfast was excellent, but make sure if you need to leave early you leave time, as it takes 20min to bring the breakfast out. the staff all spoke english, french and even italian, and maybe more !! went out to find us some beers !
size of Scifano double room was small, would have been better for 1 and for us to go into Blue room that was used for 1 person. we did book scifano again for 2 people, for 2 singles, one in double and 1 in single. room dynamics not clear: be it for bathroom use for the 2 rooms, as bathroom as two doors, one from single and one from double room, also, not the best for access as the single has to access through the bathroom and double bed room, which means when some go to bed earlier or may not know each other so well.. not so good, so had to go through the window into single. as 2nd entrance was locked to enter the room so if you book scifano for 3, if you are a family OK, if not check first...
Friendly, fun & attentive staff. A lovely 'oasis of calm' away from the hustle and bustle of the souks which are literally 2-3 minutes away on foot. Central location. Lovely breakfast and great roof views.
It has an unattractive alleyway leading to it - public toilets, a bin with cats and the local waterpump. You would struggle to find it without having one of the staff meet you. (The pick up was no problems). Also a loudspeaker for Call to prayer very close-by and so generally an early wake up!
The staff was very nice and helpful. The decoration of the riad was charming and the terrace was lovely. The location of the riad in the medina was ok! We had a very good time there.
I suggest that they should vary the breakfast a little bit more, and they should put curtains on the shower, because the water wet all the bathroom.
This place is wonderful! I highly recommend!
Everything! The owner of the hostel gives you really a lot of information!
The staff was exceptional. Not many people work at this riad, but every single person was helpful, personable and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay in the Riad and Marrakech in general. The facilities were great as well- very clean rooms, beautiful decor, close to main sights. I highly recommend.
The riad may not be easy to find for people unused to navigating the streets of the medina. One we arrived, one of the guys from the reception drew us a very helpful map to help orient ourselves, and we never had a problem after that, even at night.
