With a traditional Moroccan-style décor, Riad Selouane is in the Marrakech Medina. It offers a patio with a plunge pool, a lounge with a fireplace and a terrace with deckchairs and a Berber tent.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Airport pickup (you really need this as the Riad is very hard to find on your own through various alleys) Lovely house and very comfortable room. Very central location. Great view of the square from the balcony.
The ceiling leaked when it rained and they really could not fix it. Luckily it only rained heavily on one day.
good wifi location
smelled funny really close to the other rooms the terrace was a bit bad needed some love only french speaking
Close to the main square, although the Riad is a little hard to find the first time
What is not to like about this riad. Great staff, excellent food and value for money. close to the main square, very clean and comfortable. Very much loved this riad, it was like our home.
-All of the staff were very polite and easy to deal with, with the exception of the blond lady at the front desk
-As soon as I arrived, after about 16 hours travelling, not only was the driver to pick me up from the airport messed up, I was then rushed to go find a place to exchange money to pay for the room. Even though they had a credit card on file, through booking.com -Besides being a solo traveler, I still had a few large bags and the room was not large enough to accommodate me and my stuff. VERY SMALL. -The difficult and rude blond lady at the front desk. For most of the time, very hard to deal with.
Jemaa El Fna is just 120 metres away from the Riad down a couple of alleylet the look of these put you off. Excellent place, supremely clean with really friendly staff to help you with all your needs. You won't disappointed!!
Two friends and I visited Marrakech the last week of September, 2014. It was my first time. The one thing I can mention positive of my experience concerns two ladies who, I believe, to be the backbone of this Riad. These two young ladies (housekeepers) worked tirelessly (and I believe under extreme duress) providing breakfast each morning to the guests, cleaning all the rooms as well as cleaning the common area. They were always more than willing to help and answer any questions. They were a delight to see each morning.
My harshest criticism concerns the Riad's Hostess/Directress. Madam is arrogant, rigid, domineering and indignant, and more than willing to comment on what "can't" be done rather than work with guests when encountering unusual situations. Upon our arrival, she announced we needed to pay for our week's stay (in full) - this was not conveyed to us before our departure to Morocco in any correspondence. When we were willing to pay by credit, her credit card machine did not work and had not been working for eight days. We asked why we weren't alerted to this before our arrival so alternate payment plans could have been made but again, it was "our" problem. Madam showed no respect to her staff and often times berated them in front guests. Most disturbing for me was the lack of care/concern for a guest when I, unfortunately, experienced a severe back injury and needed to see a doctor immediately. Once again, it was my problem. She never checked on me when I stayed in my room for an entire day (unlike the cleaning staff) and then only after words were said between the two of us did she finally agree to help get me to the doctor. On my final night, she was most insistent to her evening staff not to assist me the following morning (on way to airport) as I had selected a different transfer service rather than the one offered by the Riad. Why? Because my transfer (taxi) was willing to get as close to the Riad as possible knowing how injured I was. I strongly urge the Riad Le Rubis work with this Hostess to improve her interpersonal/management skills as I have seen similar comments posted concerning this same woman. Allowing her to continue her imperious management style will only, in the end, damage the Riad's overall rating.
This riad was in a prime location. Extremely clean and the rooms serviced well each day. Staff were very friendly but difficult as there was no English spoken.
At no point in our bookings and emails between the riad and bookings.com, was it mentioned that there is no English spoken at the riad. This made things a bit difficult. Even though they organised tours overall it would have been better to organise with tour company, becaus of language. Also no credit card facility. So had to go daily to ATM to get enough cash to pay bill. These 2 things should be mentioned so people can be prepared.
Very nice little riad close to Jemaa El Fna, and in the middle of the Medina. Hard to find the way the first time, so make sure you get some guidance to the place! Once we've been there once it was not hard to find out way back. We are very happy with our stay, thank you for a wonderful couple of days!
The windows of our room was turned inwards, and there was also a glass door, although with curtains available, but if you are very sensitive about visibility it might be a little issue. We did not have a problem though. The wifi did not work in the whole building, but that seemed to be the case in every place we stayed, so it will probably be about the same in other places as well.
cleaning and night staff were very nice
made to wait one hour for our room even though we booked early and arrived at 5pm. Were then charged taxes on top of the booking price which already included taxes. Arrogant french host was most unpleasant to deal with. Internet does not work and refused to fix it. Host yells and intimidates other staff infront of guests. Host refuses to speak english. Riad is located in dark scary alley.
No privacy in rooms. No tv. Poor wifi. Horrible breakfast. Not welcoming kids. The swimming pool is merely large path tub. Hostile French owner to the extent that she refused to give direction to the location over the phone. If you are not old french lady do not go there.
Staff Location Comfortable bed and pillows Bathroom
Broken lights The pool is not a swimming pool only decorative
The staff were unbelievably helpful and efficient. Whenever we asked for something they helped immediately. Great service, would definitely recommend!
Location: Once we were shown the from the Djeema al Fna it was a quick 2-minute walk. Staff: Ali, Mohammed, Naima, and the cleaning staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast: Authentic and delicious every morning! Hamman: In the hotel, has relaxing spa day with full body scrub and massage. Also, the pool in the courtyard was refreshing to lay in or even soak feet after a day of sightseeing. WiFi: Excellent signals. Many routers and networks per floor. Rooms: There are only 6-7 rooms and our group occupied 4 of them. Each was unique in layout and decor. Airport transportation: Much cheaper than booking with some other company online. Great value!
Some of the rooms had trouble with the AC. Staff worked hard to remedy. 2 of 3 rooms solved but third rooms had cold air but it smelled. Easy fix for the property. On the last day we were told that their credit card machine was broken so we had to get enough Moroccan Dirham to cover three rooms for 4 nights!
The hospitality was great. They arranged a cap who picked us up at the airport at 23 'O clock and brought us to the Riad which is situated in the middle of the medina just around the corner of the main square and with a view on it from the terrace. They received us in the middle of the night with hot tea right a way giving a feeling of coming home. The room was very well with an excellent big bed and fine facilities. In fact it was great. Breakfast was OK, just sweats as everywhere in Marroc and that is a tiny pity when you are not too fond of sweets!
Good service and friendly staff. Clean rooms. Very good location with a nice view on Djemaa el Fna square. Riad is easy to find back after trip into the town.
Just a remark: "Terrace is small, but could be made bigger joining the other part..."
Friendly and very cooperative staff, good breakfast, close to market etc.
Room had a strong grey water smell, hand basin blocked and shower rose broken. Has dark access down laneway which should have night lighting.
Riad le Rubis is located right on the edge of the Jemaa with a terrace that overlooks the spectacle that creates the atmosphere of Marrakech, so you're never more than a couple of minutes away from the restaurants and souks. Although close to the Jemaa it was never intrusive and we enjoyed staying at this location. Both Mohamed and Ali were very polite, positive and helpful. By the time we came to the end of our stay at Riad Le Rubis we felt like we were saying goodbye to good friends. We highly recommend this Riad Ali and Mohamed.
Smiley faces, free internet, great location
Fantastic location, amazing staff (Aly, Mohamed and Rashida will do anything to make your stay perfect!), cozy like your own home, the Jemma El Fna top floor suite is the perfect option.
Mohammed and his team (incl. Ali the night manager) went out of their way to make us feel at home in their Riad. They found medicine for my sick daughter and offered solicitous care and attention. Breakfast on the roof terrace was more than ample, freshly prepared and delicious omelettes. Rooms were excellent - comfy and even bathrobes. Very central but in a quiet lane off the main thoroughfares. A good view of the Jemaa al Fna from the roof. Five mins walk from the airport bus stop (No. 19, every 30 mins, MAD30).
Great service. Always there to help no matter what time.
Was very cold and the riad was located down a dark ally which want very well lit at night.
The Riad is almost in Djemaa el fna square!! Less than 2 mins on foot. And unlike the other Riads, one doesn't need to enlist the help of the locals to find his way back and fro..
Its awfully cold inside the Riad, even with the heaters they provide.
Mohammed and team helped my sick daughter with medicine and sympathy. They are so welcoming and the breakfasts on the roof terrace are BRILLIANT! Good English (M has a degree in Eng Lit.) We were part of the family. for our stay. Beds comfy, close to Jemaa el Fna, and a haven of peace. A la prochaine, Insh'allah.
The staff were delightful and very helpful. The food was delicious.
The room was rather small for two people.
