Score from 35 reviews Very good
The grand Palais Des Remparts is in the heart of the medina (historic quarter) of Essaouira, only 3 minutes from the beach. It is a stylish hotel and serves traditional Moroccan cuisine.

Perfect hosts ++ We were made to feel like part of the family coming and going as we pleased. Nothing was too much trouble. Well trained and attentive staff. Delicious and varied breakfasts on the roof top terrace. Very good location for the Medina and the fantastic beach and fishing port. A meal, or more, at nearby Triskala restaurant should not be missed. We had the Cornut room which we will certainly book again.
I loved the interiors and the location. Breakfast was the best I had during my whole stay in Morocco. The owners are extremely helpful and kind
The themed bedrooms are not my thing. A bit kitsch.
This was my second stay and it certainly won't be my last. My absolute favorite Riad in Essaouira, it's so easy to find, the staff and owners are sweet and helpful and that rooftop view! Lovely breakfast as well. Sigh.
The owners make you feel like at home or visiting long time friends, tastefully decorated rooms, good location, excellent breakfast with a some changes every day, beautiful sunset at terrace. Highly recommended and after three weeks throughout Morocco we can say that it is highly underrated.
A bit noisy from the street
Friendly staff and great views at breakfast, which was one of the best in Morocco. Also good location to the Medina.
We had a twin room which had no exterior window so room was a bit dark and damp- but looking round hotel lots of other light and quirky rooms.
Everything at all. This is not the first time we've been in this riad. Last year we've been there for a week and the experience was so possitive that we've repeated. The best: the owners, they're very kind and they are always trying to make you feel at home (and they get it!). The girls who work in the riad are very helpful too and the breakfasts in the terrace with Essaouira in your eye are unforgettable. We'll come back next year, Inshallah!!
Traditional Riad, lovely staff and fabulous breakfast on a beautiful terrace with stunning sea views.
Location is great. In old medina, near bus station and port. Hard to find without a map or help. Staff speak only french, except the owner. Wi-Fi is poor, and not in the room, but this is everywhere in Moroc riads, because of the stone walls. Room little cold and wet, because of the climate. Medina is nice and colourful.
Very charming Riad, nice staff and great breakfast on a great terrace.
Little cold water in the evening, shower/bath smells when open, little noice from the street.
Location Amazing quality of breakfast on the rooftop Nice furniture and internal design Nice staff
Bathroom's shower had little pressure and little hot water, but no pain !
Amazing view from the terrace, the riad is fairly easy to find. The owner is welcoming. Breakfast served in the terrace was good.
No-one spoke English, which is not a must but could have made our stay in the riad easier. The room has no ventilation and therefore it was rather damp after a whole day with the door closed. The bathroom in the room is not closed up (the top of the wall is open), so there is a lack of privacy that people might want to take into consideration when booking here.
Nice breakfast on the beautiful rooftop terrace! Good location
English of personnel (including the French owner) was limited Pressure on sanitary water system was off between 8am-9am, because too many people were showering at the same time Very humid room Toilet was not able to flush number two
A bit noisey
Good location in the centre of the Medina but not the easiest to find, so use a porter. Great breakfasts, which varied each day, served on the roof terrace with a view over the rooftops, and on to the sea. Frendly staff.
Great location, lovely staff, amazing breakfast... and a beautiful rooftop terrace.
Language barrier, but that was more our fault than theirs... looking for a language school!
The best breakfast that we had during our 9 days stay in Morocco. We went to essaouria and book this Riad for only 2 nights and in we ended up staying 4 nights. We had the Egypcian room very clean big and cozy again the breakfast was awesome served in the terrace with views to the ocean. Great place and hopefully we will be back again.
mould on the walls mattress was to hard ...
I stayed there for 11 nights and I didn't regret a single one. The staff is charming, the breakfast does always have a twist for something different each day and the place is cleaned up so thoroughly everyday... . Its in a great position in the medina and I felt completely good - I'd return anytime
It certainly helps a lot if you have some command of French (or Arabic...).
The view from the terasse is amazing. So the is the buildings atrium.
A rather large smell of gas fills the building at certain times.
The Riad is lovely and the staff very kind and helpful. The roof terrace, where the delicious breakfast is served, is one of the highest in Essaouira and the view is amazing! I totally reccommend the riad!
The room was dark, dank and smelt mouldy, the shower sprayed water directly onto the floor flooding the bathroom, I was attacked by a mob of bees on the terrace at breakfast, but my main complaint is that when I returned to the hotel before check out time to pack my things to leave I found several staff members in my room and all my belongings gone. They had entered my locked room, and also a locked cupboard in my room, and removed belongings such as my passport, money, laptop, clothing and personal items and had packed it in my suitcase which was downstairs. I was furious and have never been treated in such a way in any other hotel anywhere. No apology was given.
Great looking Ryad, Nice breakfast on top of the Ryad, Location perfect to visit the city
Room without ventilation (= too much humidity)
Excellent breakfast and very friendly and staff and owners.
Staff Breakfast Location Roof terrace
Really noisy riad Some dark rooms with no windows to outside No wifi in the rooms
moisture in the room
