The only downside of this riad was having to leave.
The staff the charm of the riad, great breakfast and the location make this riad a great place to stay.
nothing really bad, but it would be nice if the wifi also reached the rooms.
I really liked the vintage atmosphere of the hotel, the room was gigantic and I also liked that there was NO television. I think, televisions in general should be optional in hotels, not mandatory. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
I liked everything really no complaints will visit and stay next time
The room was great plenty of space for 3 friends we shared a decent size room, comfy beds clean bedding and towels... Nice warm showers and a heater for chilly winter Eve's when we got in late, breakfast was really generous and tasty we had on the roof , coffee was strong and good ... Everything was perfect ! Thank you Siad and the rest of the staff ... Really welcoming and and lo
quiet riad right in the center of the old town, good athmosphere in the rooms around the two courts, nice view from the terrace
Dead roses as decoration throughout gave the common areas a tired, worn-out feel. Because we were in the medina we knew to expect the prayer call from the mosque early in the morning but one night the noise from across the street went on until 3am so it was impossible to sleep without ear plugs.
Traditional feel; friendly, helpful staff; located in the medina; good breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice; we had a fantastic room with a large comfy bed and two sitting room areas.
Great location centrally in the medina, nicely furnished riad with roof terrace, pretty big rooms with sitting area, friendly and helpful staff
Some of the rooms and common areas were fairly musty so keep that in mind if any of your group are asthmatics as one of our group was affected. The terrace was a lovely place to sit with fresh air.
Excellent location right in the souk! Lots of common areas and wonderful terrace. Very helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. We were disappointed with the meals we had outside the riad, so try dinner at the riad.
Large cozy Riad located central to everything. Nice staff and good breakfast. We will come back to this riad.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is excellent!
Our First impression was a bad smell of humidity in our rooms and lot of dust in the rooms, especially in the bed. The worst experience ever since we have been traveled to many places around the world is that we found a lot (a lot a lot) of bed bugs in our beds. We have eliminated them out of our beds before we went to sleep but you know what... At 2-3 am we couldn't sleep and we woke up and found itchy red rash on our neck, two arms and part of face. We started to find the bed bugs again. We were shocked when we moved the pillows up and foung a huge family of bed bugs are walking. We didn't sleep at all. In the morning we show the bed bugs which we collected during the night and showed to the person at reception. He wan just said you found them in the room right? Ok we will change the room! Without any sorry or and care feelings from their staffs. Two people in the group were allegic to the bed bugs and they suffered a lot during whole trip. The rest were not allegic but had an itchy red rash left for a month. They didn't offer us any medicine or anything. We had a very bad feelings and will never go back again. Whoever is going to stay in this place, make sure you are not afraid of bed bugs that sucks your blood during night hours!
We stayed there 2 nights, 3 rooms. Breakfast is the only thing we are fine with.
Hotel in the heart of the Medina. Nice and friendly staff, good service.
Everthing, the staf, the food the beautiful.rooms, the furniture ,even the curtains. The place in the souk, i love this place it is cloce to the harbour, the beach and the souk. I will come in Riad Maison du Sud again. Dorrit Bruselius.
Few negatives as far as the hotel was concerned, although note that parking can be difficult in the town. We finished up parking a 20 minute walk away and dragging our suitcases. It was only when we got near the old part that porters started hassling us to ask if we wanted help with the luggage. As we had walked three quarters of the way by then, we declined the offers. Also note that Google maps does not show the correct location for this hotel.
Hotel location very good, right in the heart of the town, room was good, with a nice gallery on which the double bed was located, and the general ambience of the hotel was great. The staff were also friendly and helpful.
Room facilities were so basic. We paid less with a room with much better facilities in Marrakech.
Location is good. The public spaces of this riad are so inviting and lovely.
the noise. the room had an opening in above the entry door and we could hear every slamming door outside.
The position in the medina
riad was in a excellent position.
The staff was not very welcoming and forthcoming with information, you had to ask for everything.
The riad was right in the center of the medina and we had a very large room for a family of 4.
in the centre of the medina nice staff good breakfast
Lousy wifi from room. I had to go downstairs to the central social area for internet access.
Helpful staff and management. Good location and easy access to sights and eateries.
silly tourists who act like tourists without respect or understanding...learn some local phrases , say no if you want and stick to it , haggle a bit with the good retailers and flick those in "true" need a tiny bit of money...If in doubt watch the locals and see who they do give to.
The atmosphere , the myrid of rooms , the fabulous central old medina location , the hustle and bustle of the hassle the tourist atmosphere , the smells , the food , the experiences just outside the medina walls,,, Its a revisit after ten years and tragically not much positive change has happened for the people , but for the tourist lots of lovely ( be careful !! ) experiences. A place is as good as you allow and make it.Essouira has history. I like the place lots for its own personality.....look beyond the street vendors to the history and how it must have been before..... ask permission for photos and buy the mouth painting cards off the disabled boy ( his classical name escapes me only at the moment ) near the square. You can't miss him. He has been there everyday for at least the last ten years...deserves every $ he earns as do most of the hardworking people. Explore the back streets and observe...Makes you value life and your ability to travel ..... Ooops the Hotel/Riad ..I would return for its authenticity and location in a heart beat...
It's a very comfortable hotel, lovely room, great facilities, super breakfast (the honey was the best I've ever tasted) and to walk out of the hotel straight into the heart of the old town and so close to the harbour with its fishing boats, fresh fish cafes etc was superb.
