The Riad Mandalay was like stepping into a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the streets and alley ways outside. The atmosphere of the Riad was lovely, very tranquil and relaxing. The courtyard was shady and quiet and the plunge pool was great for a quick dip to cool off. The roof terrace was great, particularly in the evening when the sun went down on the hot August days. Our room, which opened onto the courtyard, was spacious enough for the three of us, with a good big bathroom. The staff at the Mandalay were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and they helped us with information about the city, a day trip to the Atlas Mountains and transport to Essaouira. All in all we had a great stay and can't recommend Riad Mandalay and it's staff highly enough.

The Riad is in a good location close to the Medina, (although up a few small back alleys). The room was absolutely beautiful, very comfortable, very relaxing and quiet. The Riad is absolutely stunning and the staff were also very helpful. Overall a lovely Riad & great staff so close to the city centre. The Spa Facilities were not great, it was dissappointing the Jacquzzi was not working. The breakfast was a very basic continental but there is no set time which is good and I'm sure if you had requested the staff would have made something a bit better. Overall this Riad is a bit overpriced but a lovely experience.

The Hamman and massage were excellent, the owner spent a good amount of time on arrival telling us local interests and good eating areas. They also did meals which were very tasty. and arranged Morrocan cookery lessons in the Riad

staff very friendly and helpful although close to centre, having to go through the kasbah and in particular the meat market was on occasions a challenge. This was mainly at night when there were very few tourists around.

Staff were lovely and very helpful, the decor and style of the Riad was lovely and felt like family home, negative comments had been made about the breakfast but we thought they were really good, transfers were arranged smoothly for us, Giorgia sat us down with mint tea on arrival and ran us through a few points about the city which was thoroughly helpful, he and the other staff were always on hand and made sure we could ask for anything we needed we would definitely stay again. Lack of hot water, though we were warned about this, bathroom was very cold.

The Friendliness of all staff, from the cleaners to management. everyone made our stay memorable. And walking from the taxi to the riad was enlightning, but entering the riad was a big suprise !!!! The bathroom smell of damp wandered in to the bedroom, my partner and I just closed the door turned the heater on and it was fine..

Relaxing homely feeling Smell of cat urine and cat excrement in the dining room and the roof terrace.Think cats should be trained to use a litter tray on the roof terrace

The service was exceptional, the personnel was very gentle and available at all times. This quiet riad is just perfect after some harrassing hours in the city. Rooms are comfortable, the decoration is wonderful, special mention for the sunny huge terrace on the roof. The food is very tasty and very cheap for the quality. I surely will come back and thanks again for the wonderful stay ! Hot water in the shower is is not sufficient, so hot showers must be quite short. There is no heating in the rooms and in the riad so it is quite cold in the winter.

The Riad was absolutely fantastic, as with most Riads not the prettiest outside but once through the door it was great. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff (Claudio) with a great explanation of the city, where to go and how to find your way around. We were grateful for the transfer from the airport as think we would have struggled to find it the 1st time around. Definately recommend

Yassin was a really friendly and helpful, likeable host. The rooms were really spacious. I think the roof terrace could have been really improved on, as it is has such potential- seemed a bit unloved compared to how lovely the rest of the riad.

The people. Such friendly and welcoming staff that I felt immediately at ease. Ready to please, and did so in a most genuine, pleasant way. The place itself has plenty of character. More artistic touches being added. Definetly a home away from home. Thank you so much for everything!!

If you are wondering which Riad to go for in Marrakech, Riad Mandalay is the one Not only your basics such spacious & clean rooms, friendly staff (thanks for the free cab, we made it to the train) and proximity to all that's of interest, Mandalay is the key example of Maroccan friendliness. Thanks Claudio and friends, all the best!

Very competent, friendly, helpful, multilingual experienced staff. Very nicely designed rooms and patio, fantastic location, close to everything we wanted to see.nice atmosphere, rooftop terrace and the pool. Elegnt and low key at the same time. Once cen get good massage there as well. Breakfast rather basic for non-mediterraneans. That's only disadvantage, perhaps nor for everyone.

Very relaxed atmosphere, friendly informative staff, especially Claudio who gave excellent information about the area as well as the services provided at the riad. Organised our transfers to and from the airport, trip up to ourika valley which was excellent, just wish I had brought walking shoes. We also had a cookery lesson which he translated when necessary and served up to us in evening with a glass of wine after our massage.

Riad Mandalay is an excellent oasis of peace amidst the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. It has a good location not far from the central square and it was a real treat to enjoy the peacefulness inside the riad while still being close to the action. The two owners are very friendly and ready to help and advice. I can warmly recommend this place to anyone wishing to visit Marrakech.

We found Riad Mandalay online and are sooo happy we did so. We initially stayed for 4 nights and then did a tour, and it was so great that we booked for another 2 nights after our tour. This review might say we stayed only one night, but it was a total of 6 with both our bookings. The location is in the Kazba, about 10-15 min walk to the main center, depending on the people traffic. Once you are taken there the first time, it is fairly easy to find. We walked back around midnight a few nights and felt pretty safe, although I probabley wouldn't go without my husband at that time. The rooms are spacious with big bathroom. Soap, shampoo and lotion was provided which is rare for europe, let alone africa. Breakfast is adequate. The staff are super nice and Georgia and Claudio are fantastic. They share stories, make the best mint tea I've had in Morocco and Claudio's italian cooking was awesome. They also were helpful when we needed a clinic and medicine. They are always there to give help and guidance. The place is truely an oasis after a day spend in the chaos of Marrakech. There is free wifi with decent connection. The rooms have ac and heating, we were able to borrow a hair dryer and we even were able to do our laundry. I really enjoyed our stay, already recommended it to people we met in Fez, and would stay there again without hesitation.

Great location of the Riad, just inside the labyrinth of the old medina. Once you enter all the rush from the street disappears. The Riad manager Claudio is very friendly, he helped as with everything we needed. Peaceful & friendly place for anyone who want visit the medina or the Marrakech surroundings incl. Atlas mountains. We were not here during the hot season but the big terrace and pool are available for relaxing ;-)

Quite, clean and relaxing. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Walking distance to most sites and very close to the markets. The street location, as you have to go through very crowded, often smokey lanes, which could be decieving.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The courtyard (and pool) was the perfect place to relax after a day in the city, a real oasis of calm. And the room, although quite basic, was spacious and comfortable. Air conditioning was quite noisy, so we had to keep the windows open during the night.

An Oasis of secure calm in a superbly frenetic area, close to all the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. The proprietor Georgia and her staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for her in particular and she made everything feel easily sorted. The Riad room we had cannot be said to be luxurious but for the money it was very good value. The Riad's main area is a very pleasant place to sit and drink mint tea.... We liked it and stayed for the full week instead of the 2 days we had booked - Georgia just quietly said she would move her bookings around to help. And the place is a good base to hire a car and take a day or two in the Atlas mountains. They are wonderful. There is nothing not to like! Don't go there if you want hotel style pools and restaurants, vast choice at breakfast etc. Go there for the experience of bed'n'breakfast in a brilliant location and ... well, a Riad.

“The staff at the Riad were absolutely superb and could not do enough for us. They provided exceptional service and arranged everything we wanted to do with utmost efficiency from picking us up at the airport to taking us back. Breakfast on the rooftop was really nice and a good start to the day. The evening meal in the Riad was probably the best we had on our trip so if you go make sure to have at least one meal there. We would definitely return. There may be cheaper out there but not worth the risk - we know this is value for money.” Tracey, Mazarron |
