The riad enjoys an exclusive location in the Medina of Marrakesh, in the privileged district of Bab Doukkala, just minutes from the famous Jemaa el Fna Square and of the souks (markets).

We stayed two nights at Riad Matham and really loved it. We arrived by plane and used the airport pick up service, which we can totally recommend. Otherwise, it may be difficult to find the place if you do not know Marrakech yet. At night the chef prepared a fantastic dinner. The riad has a fantastic, peaceful atmosphere and a beautiful terrace, where we had our delicious and abundant breakfast. Thierry is a great host and the whole staff helped us a lot planning our first steps in the city. We can totally recommend the riad.
Very welcoming feeling, generous and helpfull staff, beautiful room, delicious breakfast, what else needed? Ah, and cute turtles :)
I didn't appreciate the guy with the red hat and arm band who insisted on following us to the riad every time we went back. He seemed to loiter at the barber shop near the riad and then follow us, he told us he was protecting us which really freaked us out. He even followed us to our taxi at 7.30am. The taxi man told us he was the area guardian but I think the riad owner should warn guests about him as he gave us the wrong impression. we knick named him "Dodgy Dave"
We are a family and stayed in the two suites on the ground floor. They are the only rooms on the ground floor, they open onto the patio and pool area. There are no tables out side the rooms and it felt very private unlike at other riads. One suite had a mezzanine floor with an extra double bed. This room would be ideal for families who want to share with young children, it was ideal for our teenage girls who need their own space.Very friendly host but not over bearing as in other riad stayed at. Super large beds although very firm which I like.
Great and quiet spot. Awesome breakfast and dinner cooked by the house chef!
The view of the Atlas mountains in the background was gorgeous. The breakfast was delicious. It was a comfortable, homy environment. The owners were friendly then left you to yourselves, which we appreciated.
some areas of the room were not covered with Wifi.. but i guess this is the price you have to pay if you get a big room! ;)
the room is absolutely amazing! really big and clean! we had a problem with the shower and the owner came to the room with some tools and fixed it in less than 5 minutes!
I thought the pool in photos was bigger. It's a plunge pool but I would get in it, its more for show and to underline the term 'Riad'
Room was perfect, staff all pleasent and helpful. Really really great place.
Communication was difficult for English speaking guests. Closest drop-off for taxi is quite a long hike from hotel. Expensive for Morocco.
Good location for walking through souk to main square. Nice roof terrace for breakfast and lounging.
A very quiet place in the middle of busy, bustling Souks. Thierry, his son Adrian and his staff could not have been more helpful.
Had to hire a porter to find this Riad even though we were moving from nearby accommodation. -Had to make our own map as the one supplied was inadequate to find our way back particularly after dark. -We accepted and paid for a room upgrade but there was no hot water for shower. -Mediocre breakfast- mainly bread and jam!. - Awful modern european music destroyed the ambiance on several occasions!
-Helpful staff. -Nice reasonably authentic rooms and atrium space. -Interesting artwork.
The riad is stunning. It is pure peace and tranquility and provides pure relaxation. The owner Thierry is on hand to offer help and advice... Nothing is to much trouble. His son Adrian was also more than helpful and friendly. The roof top terrace is great for catching the sun. We had dinner in the riad which was delicious and also easy on our first night. Would advise arranging pick up From the airport as riad is down alleyways and I think would be very difficult to find.
The calm and beauty of the riad; its peaceful central courtyard, its rooftop terrace, high ceilinged bedrooms, tadelakt bathrooms, the welcome, good local food beautifully presented, the cleanliness and lovely classic decor, the helpful (without being intrusive) host Philippe, the I-house hammam and massage, and the pet tortoises . I love the Arabic architecture and the layout, the keyhole doors and Arabic arches, view of the medina and snowy Atlas mountains from the roof. It is located deep in the medina within the ramparts of the old town next to the souks, a stone's throw from the vibrant colours of the spice souk and the artisans tapping away in their workshops.
the riad is superbly nice. Clean room and super service Inside th riad is quiet and tranquil Owner mr Thierry is so nice and observant Bed is so comfortable Decor is awesome
Wakeup pray of the muezzin, however, typical for arabian medinas.
Breakfeast in the sun on the terrace.
Nothing---it was perfect.
This was my forth visit to Marrakech and this is by far the best Riad I have stayed in. I loved the space, the cleanliness and I truely felt relaxed in here. Beautiful Decor, fantastic food and helpful staff. The bed was very comfortable and wine is available with dinner. The only Riad I intend to return to. Excellent value for money.
My partner and I stayed for three nights in the Mérinide room at Riad Matham and had a great experience. Everything was very clean and comfortable and we were amazed at how peaceful the riad was compared to the chaos of the souks! We loved the quiet roof terrace and our spacious bathroom, which were even better than in the photos! The staff, particularly the owner Thierry, were really friendly and helpful and made things like booking airport transfers and spa treatments really easy. We also ate at the riad a couple of times and really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. We'd definitely return on our next visit.
location intimidating at night
Marrakech is a mess. People "help" you find your way for money of cause. We were a little cold at times since it was in February.
This place is a Oasis of calm in crazy Marrakech. Very lovely french man running this place. Excellent breakfast and service.
A really warm welcome from Thierry, Adrian and the staff who helped us with maps, advice and orientation. Lovely atmosphere, quirky room, spectacular views from the roof terrace, delicious Moroccan food. Less than a ten minute walk from the souk. Could not fault it.
A beautifully restored Riad in a quiet restful location very close to the northern end of the souks in the Medina. The owner and staff were all very friendly and helpful nothing seemed a problem. A super place to stay in Marrakech.
Beautiful interior, with taste and style Great cooking and breakfast Very nice roof terrace with amazing view over the medina and Atlas Nice and easy atmosphere, haven of rest in the middle of the busy medina Very good in house-hammam and massage Everything clean and service is top! Thierry, merci beaucoup et bonne chance!
the discomfort to hear everything from the bedroom, plus the bad luck of having rude and loud door neighbours.
the riad was amazing with a magical bedroom! the location was close to everything and in a safe area. breakfast has been superb made with natural and healthy ingredients.
Thierry welcomed us in his Riad Matham and we enjoyed it from start to finish. Our 3 teenage children shared a comfortable, spacious room with 3 single beds while our room was small but very comfortable as well. We enjoyed our stay with Thierry tremendously and are looking forward to going back.
The location was superb and the whole Riad beautiful,
The hammam wasn't working when we were there
Perfect Riad, serene, calming and peaceful especially after a day out in the bustling souks. Very friendly and accommodating
