Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast ok but not great in comparison with other places we stayed in Morocco.
The place is quite old and there was a weird smell everywhere. We were in a room on the ground floor that has a terrible bathroom. We asked to be moved to another one and it was a bit better, as well on the ground floor.
The hotel is situated in the old town of Fez, the medina, and close to the main streets and the colorful lively markets. We recommend asking the hotel to arrange for someone to pick you up from the airport and bring you there; it may be difficult to find the hotel the first time. The inside of the hotel building is beautiful, and the rooms are very nice, comfortable, and cozy. Everything was very clean. We slept very well and comfortably. Ahmed was very friendly and helped us out in any questions we had. His family and staff were very nice as well. We felt very welcomed and well taken care of. The breakfast on the roof terrace was amazing, you have a wonderful view over the medina from the roof terrace, and the food was so delicious! As was the home cooked dinner we decided to try on our last night. Our stay at the hotel was just a very nice experience. We are really happy we chose to stay there and we truly recommend this hotel.
If you want to experience real moroccon riad and hospitality this is the place to go. Excellent value for money in Fez with best location.
Ahmed, The manager , made us really feel at home. He and his family really treat their guests as their own family.
The riad is beautiful and really traditional with a lovely family atmosphere. Breakfast was really good on the roof terrace with the canary for company! Really enjoyed our stay here.
The tour guide! This was through te tourism agency and not Ahmed's fault though. The tour guide just wanted us to spend loads of money at his mates market stalls.
We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel, the staff is amazingly kind and helpful, and the hotel is decorated beautifully. Strongly recommended.
Riad Meski is a perfect spot to stay inside the medina to experience the real Fes in comfort and style. We were met at the nearby gate to avoid confusion through the labyrinth of turns inside the medina, had fresh breakfast every morning, were given a map of the local area to use and were even walked to and from the nearby restaurant for delicious traditional Moroccan so as not to get lost in the dark. The riad is authentic in decoration and a true peace of Fassi history. I would recommend to anyone looking to experience Morocco.
Kind, reliable staff.
No air conditioning.
Fes (both the new city and medina) is a very dirty place with people trying to rob you at each step. We went to many cities/villages from Marroco and Fes was the most unpleasant. We don't recomand staing in the Medina. A better option would be to stay in Meknes and make a 1 day visit to Fes.
Mohammed and Said were amazing! They met us at the gate to bring us into the riad, provided us with mint tea and were always helpful and so friendly. We felt so well taken care of. Mohammed even taught us how to play rummikub on our last night! Loved our stay at riad meski, great hospitality and warmth.
Location is a bit far but it's easy to find (near the main road) and there's great food in the market nearer the riad.
This riad was very well located on a quiet street easily accessible to the main road in the medina. The owner was very helpful about giving directions and arranging guides from the gates, as well as a local tour.
There was a kind of funny smell on the main floor, but not in the room. It's really like staying in someone's house, so some noise travels. The family conversation and baby did quiet down by around 10:30, though. Rooms are clean, it's just all a bit old.
Host and family very friendly and helpful. Communication easy as host had very good English. Delicious breakfast. Riad was very impressive, with 3 story internal atrium, and beautiful tile work everywhere. Location convenient for main thoroughfare through medina, and main sights.
Bathroom in first room on ground floor was very basic - needed renovation, and small flies an issue. (Moved to another room on upper floor, which had a nice new bathroom, and no flies!) Walk back to the riad in the evening somewhat intimidating, as it was in side alley a fair distance from the main medina thoroughfare - although we felt more comfortable with time.
Amazing 500 year old building with spacious rooms, great reception and very nice atmosphere throughout the stay. Overall, a really great place in the heart of medina.
The facilities The staff was extremely helpful Great location Clean Authentic The breakfast
Wifi could be stronger in certain rooms
Ahmed is a very pleasant host. He was very eager to arrange everything for us for the short time that we were there: airport pick-up, dinner at the riad, guides, etc. Very nice breakfast on the rooftop. A peek over the wall gives you a nice view of the medina. The riad is very close to the main street of the medina, which is an easy start for a journey through the (narrow) streets.
The bathroom could need a small upgrade. Our room was right next to the main place inside the riad, so you could hear everyone coming in / going out.
You feel at home the moment you walk in. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent homemade food. Beautiful riad. Great experience!!
Ahmad is a very nice guy and gave us warm welcome with a cup of mint tea. The breakfast in the morning was very rich and was served on the roof with beautiful views on the medina.
The noise coming from outside the room - the walls are probably too thick. We did not see any signs in the street of medina so it´s really hard to find the right door.
Well, Everything OK: very nice people (Ahmed and his brother Joussef were so attentive), The breakfast is perfect to start the day with energy (cooked by their mother) and the room was huge and clean. Familiar vibe that make the experience more authentic.
The main problem was the shower. I didn't know how to keep the hot water enough to take a relaxed shower (Ask them to receive instructions at the beginning because i received them the last day... ;) ). Be careful with the "official" guide and if you contract him, make him know you are not interested on buy anything
Staying with a Moroccan family in their house located in the Medina is a special experience. The very warm welcome outweighed the cold evenings (we stayed there three days in December 2013). We also appreciated the opportunity of having dinner there.
increadible friendly staff who will welcome you in their own home as is you are family! Ahmen and his brother Youssef are great hosts. their mother prepares a home cooked meal for you if desired! (let them know on time if you want to eat, since all ingredients are purchased upon order) a real authentic riad!
Very nice staff Wonderful food - dinner & breakfast
