Riad La Porte Rouge is in the heart of the Medina, next to the Royal Palace Gardens. It features a hot tub on the terrace, with views of the Atlas Mountains.
Score from 173 reviews Wonderful
This riad is located in the center of the Medina (historic quarter), 10 minutes from the famous Jemaa Fna Square. It offers a hammam and rooms with free Wi-Fi.
Score from 46 reviews Excellent
great location, close to the main square. Rachid, the staff guy, nice and friendly, kind everytime.
The riad was clean, spacious and the staff was very helpfull. You have a room with your own toilet and shower and good beds. The noise of the city is very low, but your are very close to the center. The way to the medina is save. Even as 2 girls alone, we could walk home in the night. Staff gives you good advice about trips. There are tourist books and maps in the Riad you can use. The roofterrace is cosy. You don't really have a view over the medina, but that's because you sit low, and there's a wall around the terrace. If you stand up, you'll see a lot. The breakfast is nice! And the wifi works great.
We had the one room where the toilet was behind a small wall, so it was in the same room as the beds. That was a bit awkward sometimes.
Beautiful place at good location and extremely nice and helpful staff!
This jewel of a Riad is in the heart of the Medina, 2' away from both Jemaa El fna and the gate to the outer city, absolutely quiet during market hours being located in a clean and elegant Derb, fresh when the city is roasting, and stunning in its beauty all the time. The interiors are decorated in a dream-like explosion of colours, cleanliness rules everywhere, and just take a look at the terrace and it's view on the roofs of Marrakech, and you'll be ready to ask for a 2-month reservation. All this would mean nothing without the kindness and spontaneous friendliness of the guys working there. Youba and Rashid welcomed us as friends, helped us all the time, cared after us as brothers when we underwent some organisational accidents, woke up at dire hours in the night to spare us trouble and prepared unforgettable breakfasts. They also spent loads of time with us in conversation, and their conversation is definitely more than professional touristic chat. Not to mention the tajine we cooked together last night. They organize trips to the desert as well, so we're planning to go back to Marrakech next holidays just to enjoy again their hospitality and this experience we couldn't try last time. So much we trust their professionality, we already know it will be a treat. Thank you, guys.
Not living there :D
The staff (Ayub) is awesome and very helpful. He tries to make your stay great. The location is within 10min from Jamaa Alfna and 5 min from both main street (taxis) and souks. The riad is quiet and nicely decorated, the rooms are spacious and the breakfast was tasty.
The airport pick was not good as they dropped me off the main street and didn't help guiding me to the riad after midnight, got into the hassle of the fake guides. I found the excursions (the company they deal with) gave higher prices than other riads but cheaper than those you find in the street, so it's not riad's issue but excursions unclarity.
Good breakfast and helpful staff :-)
It would be better if the bedroom and toilet were separate rooms.
It was a part of our honeymoon, and we had a relaxed place - lovely roof, nice room. We loved all minutes there, from the brekfest, which was served in traditional Moroccan plate, till the barhroom, which was also nice. Ayoub made everything for us, thanks again for all the informaitons what you gave us, from the directions till the tradition. Dzsama el Fna is really close, but the riad is quiet, we had everything what we needed. I read in another comment about the wifi broblem, downstairs was very good, and we enjojed to be there in that environment. Anyway, in another hotels in the country, we did not had any wifi, so we were happy to keep in touch with our family from that riad, in the nice backround. Thanks for everything.
First of all thanks to Mirjam, who gave me the direction to get there. In the Riad Ayoub was looking after us very well. Fantastic moroccan riad with a pretty roof, nice rooms, very good brekfest. Ayoub gave us all informaitons what we were looking for, nice, clean, traditional riad. We spent 8 nights in the country, we had another bookings in Casablanca and in Ouarzazate as well, but we loved this Riad, would be happy to have a same flat at home.
After an awful stay at another Riad in Marrakech, we were warmly welcomed by Hassan and Rashid to Riad Naya. It was cozy and the rooms were air conditioned which was a must in the immense heat. Very close to Jmna el Fnaa and other attractions in Marrakech.
Nice people are working there, there is a cool terasse to chill out... Nice atmosphere there!
A short walk through Souks to Jamaa el Fnaa square, Riad Naya provides refuge from intense street heat and animation in its shaded silence and warm rich colors. The business is family owned and life in the riad is like being part of this family: we cooked together and ate together exchanging stories of life in the desert, insights into the real life of Moroccan people and society and helpful hints about prices, scams and tourist traps. For going beyond the tourist façade where most visitors stop, my Moroccan friends have been a conduit to a deeper understanding of Morocco, its history, its realities and its every day struggles. The place is clean, comfortable and a great value for the money. Rooms are large, airy and well cooled by air-conditioning. In-room Wi-fi is also a great convenience.
We had Marrakech-wide wifi problems a couple of days. No fault of the riad. Hard to find on the map but a porter will take you on your first day.
Friendly staff, quiet neighbourhood
staffs are friendly and very helpful very special decoration with Morrocan style
nothing btw, people would like to go old town in marrakech must call the hotel once you arrive, staff from hotel can pick you up outside the old town, which taxi cannot go though. we had an experience that we took a taxi from train station to edge of the old town, he charged us 50mad, once he arrive to the edge , he transfer us to some young gang, around 8to10 years with very good english, taxi driver said these gang are people from the raid, last of all, the gang charged us 100mad with 10mins walk distance.this is really really ridiculous !!! of course , we paid only 20mad finally and staff from riad help us to send them out. i remember the young gang said 20mad is nothing to them, that is terrible. this is not a con for the riad, but please bare in mind this point if you want to visit Marrkech and live inside the town.
Lovely comfortable road with very friendly staff.
A bit difficult to find. I suggest thoroughly google mapping prior to your arrive at the medina.
Good for a couple like us that spend more time outside exploring!
The toilet and the room were only separated by a wall, no door.
Staff was friendly, room was clean
Difficult to find
Staff was really friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was good, but (see "-")
We booked a double room with private bathroom. When we came, a lady said that we have private external bathroom, which is just for us, so it is private. I don't know what she said to other couples but everyone was using this bathroom :) There was no toilet paper (1 day) in the bathroom.
We liked it a lot: very good service (thanks, Hassan!), facilities, location and ambient
The map is wrong. If you look for Riad Naya in Google Maps, you will be (wrongly) addressed to a lane starting at Derb Sidi Abdelaziz/Rue Amsafah. Actually, the riad is at a lane (Derb Snane) starting from Rue Sidi el Yamani, very close to Mouassine Mosque
It was our first trip to Morocco and we can recommend this Ryad to everyone! We felt looked after and most welcome. After a long day of traveling we found peace and great atmosphere in the evening which was just great and gave us excellent conditions to discover the beauty of Marrakesh every day. We will definitely go back and stay a bit longer :)
Superb! I stayed with my teenage daughter. We loved Riad Naya. It was easy to find and perfectly situated in the medina very close to the square Djama el Fna. The rooms were a substantial size, comfortable and nicely appointed with authentic Morrocan decoration and it was nice to have a hairdryer and a beautiful hot shower! We had a lovely breakfast and Buchra was so accommodating by bringing us mint tea and coffee throughout our stay. My daughter loved sunbaking on the terrace and watching the medina from the sunny rooftop. We learn't a few arabic words from Hassan the owner which helped us in our walks around the bustling medina. Hassan also recommended a great restaurant so we were truly happy and over indulged... Overall, it was such an overwhelmingly positive introduction to Morocco in a clean, safe environment - as a mother and daughter travelling around Morocco we weren't sure what to expect!! I would happily recommend Riad Naya to any travellers who wanted to see the sites of Marrakech in a perfect location. Thanks again!
Wish we had more time to stay.
The position of the riad is perfect to walk through the medina.
Breakfast could be better (maybe a little more bread and jam..). There are no glass windows, just wood to keep the room dark and it's not a problem until it gets cold because of a one-day storm...
The guys of the staff were extremely kind and they treated us as friends as soon as we got there. You can rely on them for help and information about the average prices of goods (you know moroccans make higher prices to tourists). The guy helped us buying a shisha and offered us some tobacco to relax on the terrace... And they offered us tea whenever we wanted some.Fantastic!
We were only a bit scared by the damaged house on the street, but I am quite sure it will be fixed soon.
We spent 1 night in Riad Naya. The guy running the place is very cool, ready to help in everything. The patio has a great atmosphere, laidback while preserving the authenticity of the style. The breakfast was nice, the place was clean. A huge plus is the location as it is in the heart of the medina. We arrived late, it was no problem at all. Overall we had a great time there.
The map on google is a little misleading, it's a bit tricky to find it. The bathroom is outside of the room.
Riad Naya in Marrakesh is like our second home. Very friendly and helpfull staff.
Location, decoration and above all Ayoub. He can help in everything. Thanks!
First time I was not sure about the Riad Naya location, because it is on a wrong place on the Booking.com map. But the address is correct. Booking.com please put the accomodation to the right place on the map!
