I can't explain how fantastically kind and accommodating the staff were. There's always someone to help or advise you with great kindness I can't recommend highly enough such kind generous staff, excellent security and such serenity ! I can't emphasise enough how exceptional the location of the riad is Our experience in Marrakech simply would not have been the same if we had not stayed here ! I like the location of the hotel and the hearty breakfast Really loved our stay in the riad. Thank you again !
This riad is in a perfect location not far from the main square. The staff were very friendly and helpful , they arranged tours for us for a very good price We stayed in the top-floor roof off of the roof terrace, and it was beautiful Comfortable, lots of light, clean, we wish we could have stayed for longer than 3 nights The rooms are big and clean and excellent value for money !!!
The riad was very central (middle of the medina) The bed was clean and comfortable and the breakfast large and very good Relaxed atmosphere that we appreciated Courteous helpful, friendly , very flexible and polite staff Spacious rooms with some very nice touches. A Riad that makes every effort to make customer's stay a memorable one We really enjoyed our holiday and we loved this Riad We will definitely come back again.
Perfect break and would recommend to anyone on a budget. Staff were excellent and room was clean tidy . The location is perfect just 15 mins stroll through the medina.
Really beautiful courtyard.
Our phones couldnt detect the free wi fi
Receptionist Ayub very good and looked after us.
staff went out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible, we wanted to stay an extra night and Aioub found us a room at another road as there wasn't a room available. Fatima made us great breakfasts and all in all it was excelent value for money in a traditional riad.
room was a bit cold (although we did go in Jan)and the heater didn't work, toilet seat was broken. I'm sure if we had mentioned it both would have been sorted straight away, but we weren't bothered.
The staff at the riad were lovely, hospitable and very helpful. The riad was in a great location, loved the roof terrace. Overall though it was the staff that made our stay pleasurable.
This Riad is beautiful! The location is excellent and the staff are super friendly and helpful. We loved it here and hope to come back again!
This is no Sheraton. But then, this is not what we were looking for. The Perle d'Orient is as real as it gets. A brilliant and extremely charming Riad in a quiet alleyway. To top it all off, the best ever staff you could wish for. Fatima, Simo ... and the irreplacable Ayoub are gems and will go to great lengths to make you feel welcome. An amazing place to stay without the frills!
Our bed could have been a little more comfie. And the wonky toilet seat ... which was a pain in the bum!!!
Cosy Friendly An oasis in the Medina Free wi-fi
No hot water (but there was supposed to be) Very small room Not siutable for family with children The pool was just decoration
The staff was really friendly and the location great!
Helpful staff members and english speaking manager. Close enough to all attractions. You get what you pay for in terms of amenities. Easy WiFi access.
Rooms were clean but lots of small things need to be fixed. Staff member did have toilet seat fixed on the same day it broke so not sure why they don't keep on top of things.
Lovely little Riad in the medina. A little bit difficult to find but once you knew where it was we had no further problems. Room was comfy with a lovely bathroom. Sitting in the courtyard with mint tea was very calming particularly after the noisiness of the medina We got a great deal on a room which made this a luxury stay on a budget price
Toilet didn't flush properly (continually filled up) but I have to admit we didn't mention this to the staff as were only there one night. Staff could sometimes be difficult to find even at check out Third bed in the suite was a small pull out and a bit uncomfortable
Location Breakfast (pancakes only on morning of arrival) Bathroom
Shower didn't stay at a constant temperature Wifi weak Aircon didn't work in one room and even after asking it was not fixed
The riad was very pretty with a central courtyard with small pool that was surrounded by comfortable, well maintained rooms. It was clean and good value for money, we only paid £90 for 3 people for 3 nights!
Our flight was delayed and we arrived around midnight. The shuttle collected as from the airport but then just dropped as off in a dark, unlit street, with a quick"just turn left down there and you'll find it". The riad is located down a series of winding alleyways and is not easy to find, we ended up being picked up by a teenage boy that inevitably wanted paying to take us too our destination. It would have been nice to have been escorted to the door by either the driver or "security guard" especially being 3 young women at midnight. The security guard we met on arrival was friendly enough but took one of my friends aside when she was catching us up one day and said "you are very beautiful, be careful out there" which made us feel less safe rather than more! He was also really unhelpful when we tried to arrange transport back to the airport, saying it would cost us a lot because we were "white" and being unable to come up with a reasonable price to help us barter. It was a nice place but it felt like they weren't going to go out of their way to help you feel more comfortable. Perhaps it would be more appropriate for people who know the city or have visited before and do not need much help to find taxies, places to eat, directions etc because they aren't forthcoming in offering assistance. I was pleased to be in a group as would have felt unsafe to stay there alone.
The staff is really polite and friendly. Clean. Quiet. Good internet. Good location. Good breakfast.
The staff is not informed on reservations and prices! NEVER book the room by paying in advance, you will have a problem in the riad... they will try to charge you again.
Simon is the man of the hostel. He is kind and reliable. Ask him!
You cannot bring guests of any kind to the hostel, at day time or night time
Not a nice owner who does not speak English very well. Riad is quite far from the square and is somewhat hidden in a dark alley with obscure people in it (one guy harassed my girlfriend).
In Marrakech there are a lot of nice riads. This is not one of them. The owner was very rude to us and hardly speaks any English. Because we decided to stay an extra night in Marrakech we asked the owner whether we could add an extra night - he insisted that we had to do this via Booking.com - but of course the WiFi was down (again). We were flabbergasted; not being able to book an additional night at the reception? We told him this and he said that the next day a repairman would come and fix the WiFi, and since it was already late we had to go back into the city centre to find somewhere else with WiFi to book the room. When we booked it we told the owner and everything was ok. When we came back the next night (at 21.00/22.00) we were told that the room was not available anymore for that night, although we showed the email with the reservation, and we had to leave the riad immediately and we had to find another riad. We had to pack our bags and stroll the medina (not fun!!) to find another overpriced riad.. Would not recommend. Furthermore it was very difficult to find the riad from the road, there were no signs whatsoever. Besides having a room where quite some things were broken and dirty. Very bad experience.
Simon is the key person in this hostel, very nice and kind. It is a moroccon hostel, so forget about bringing girls to your room during the night, they do not allow anyone to come in. Nice choice
Very clean, close to Medina, rooftop seating (breezy in one area and another to lounge in the sun), airport pickup really handy. The girl who served breakfast was very friendly as well although she didn't speak any English and my friends didn't speak French.
Having nothing to compare the Riad to as it was my first time in Marrakech and Morroco I didn't want to write a review until I'd been to other places in Morocco. Now I can comment properly as we stayed in a couple of other Riads and Dars. I want to give Riad Perle D'Orient a great review but I can't. The Riad is lovely but... The Riad: is very clean, the room was great - air con, fridge and airy as on the top floor. Bathroom spacious but no toiletries and towels / bedding not changed while we were there. It is in the Medina so well located but if you were by yourself you probably wouldn't want to walk down all the little alleyways. But then again you wouldn't have to because every time you come back to the Riad you have a guy waiting for you (your security) to walk you home. We were 3 three people, one man over 6ft so didn't need security and I told the manager so. We also didn't have a key to the Riad, only our bedroom. One key! So each time we went out we had to tell the manager what time we would be back! I'm not used to a curfew. Staff: As our flight was late and we didn't arrive at the hotel until 11pm the manager Samira straight away asked us for our booking confirmation, passports and money and as my booking had changed a number of times I had to search through a long list of emails. This is not normal! I used to run a guest house!!!! We had been travelling since early morning so should have been shown to our room and it suggested that we go downstairs with booking once we settled in. I don't know if it would be the same if we had arrived earlier. The owner Hatem was great though! He picked us up as arranged. He even had to wait for 2 hours - the passport control took that long. Our flight was not delayed. Food: Book without breakfast if it is an option. The breakfast was awful! I expected to be full after breakfast from what I've heard of other Riads, reviews and friends. No!
Clean place with friendly staff in a reasonably safe part of the Medina.
Hard to find initially, especially at night. Doesn't quite live up to its own description.
Location is brilliant. The riad itself is very beautiful although spoilt by a huge TV screen in the yard by the pool.
It is very badly managed: 1. When we arrived (with a child) after a long international flight we were not offered either tea or water. When we asked if we could buy some water, the manageress told us that no water was available. How can they claim that they run a restaurant on the premises? 2. She then tried to claim that breakfast was not included in our booking. Thankfully we had our booking.com confirmation with us. 3. The first night was very cold and we asked for some extra blankets. Her initial response - they are just enough blankets for the rooms but she did give us extra blankets in the end, 'since we had a child with us'. 4. Before our arrival the hotel could not get the details of our visit right. They confirmed the booking for the wrong kind of room to begin with, then came another email, confirming the booking for the wrong dates! 5. I wrote to the hotel several times asking to send us the name of the hotel in Arabic, so that we could show to a taxi driver (we did not want to use the more expensive hotel pickup). These emails (four of them!) were just ignored by the management. This has a potential to be a wonderful place but it is not welcoming at all, as it is very badly run.
Lovely place and location - 2 minutes from one of the rear entrances to the Souk, but quite. Great value for money. Lovely Staff
-Bugging by the local boys who offer to help and pester for money. They expect to be paid even for a small help like direction for a shop, pharmacy,..etc. -Finding the Riad initially is difficult, so would suggest the Riad put up directions right from the main road.
