One of the highlights of our trip to Morocco, this extremely beautiful riad was an absolute gem. From the free delicious breakfast, to the traditionally decorated rooms and common areas, to the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, our experience here was second to none. The setting is very romantic. There is access to a massive roof terrace, pool, hammam and massage rooms. The owners helped us organize tours around Fez and Chefchaouen that we enjoyed greatly. Don't hesitate to book it, the pictures alone do not do this property justice!
I have travled 34 countries ... Stayed at 100's of different 5 & 4 stars hotels ... Riad Salam Fes Staff for sure so far Tops them all
Some may not like the location but for me it was perfect
We had supper in the hotel the first night, and it was so overpriced we had to laugh.
the place looked amazing
I was so excited to stay at this hotel but I felt everything was a let down. Starting from the room. I was so tired but the bed was so hard and uncomfortable, the tv didn't work properly and then the shower took at least 20 mins to warm up. Later on in morocco I stayed at different hotels which pretty much had similar designs and were half the price of salam and had better services.
The shared rooms are beautiful. Very close to the Medina.
The bedrooms on the website are the premium rooms. Our room had mouse droppings in the cupboard, the lights kept flickering on and off due to a short in the wiring system. Front office tried to double charge us for many items. They did not have our booking so I forwarded to them and they made us pay the booking premium. Would not recommend.
the decoration is amazing
the riad is stunning, beautifully decorated and the staff is very nice
too much noise in the morning but you have to put up with it as in the medina that s the way it is
BEWARE!!! The location was terrific, and the riad itself was beautiful, but every other part of my experience at Riad Salam Fes was so horrible, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!
Did they tell you they're doing construction on the roof? NO! The noise is constant, and echoes throughout the riad from the moment they start hammering each morning, including weekends! You can't even relax in the courtyard because the noise is so deafening, and they could care less that debris from the construction falls on the guests. I was there in April, and they were just starting construction on a rooftop playground for kids. I'm expecting at the rate they were going, that it's going to take all summer. In addition, the staff is absolutely horrible. The woman at the reception desk, who apparently is the manager, had no personality whatsoever. Every time I went to see her, she was on her cellphone, it made it clear that I was interrupting her personal calls. When I mentioned that I was unhappy about the construction noise, she said I should have mentioned something earlier, because she could have moved me to another room. I told her that she could have moved me to another riad, and I still would have heard the noise. When I asked why they didn't inform their guests about the construction prior to their arrival (which another riad did), she said that it wasn't her responsibility. She refused to do anything at all to compensate my for my inconvenience. In addition, my room had a horrible sewer gas smell coming from the toilet. They obviously knew about the problem because they put all sorts of camphor deodorizers around the toilet to mask the smell. My room was like a toxic dump. The smell was so bad, I had to sleep with the window open and the bathroom door closed, and then when I needed to use the bathroom, I had to air it out for at least 10 minutes or else the smell would make me dizzy. Oh, did they tell you that you have to turn on the hot water at least 5-10 minutes before you need to use it? When they told me, I thought it was a joke. But it's true - no hot water.
good location at edge of medina, near the main streets, easy access to petit taxis if needed beautiful courtyard/lobby area
airport shuttle arranged only for inflated fee room was in horrid condition - door jammed, tap not working, air con blasting at bed. we requested for and got a change in room fortunately, but it was still substandard - doors and cabinets that don't fit, no comforter (had to ask for one), freezing bathroom. riad is probably too big/understaffed. attitude of main manager was lackluster/uninspired and did not engender a feeling of trust there are so many riads in fez, there is no reason to stay here. a real pity when the place is actually rather beautiful
