Score from 141 reviews Wonderful
The staff was tremendously accommodating, making me feel welcome and guiding me through the city on my first day. The riad is in a great location, tucked away through some alleys, a 5-10 minute walk from the main square. Mararkech is a very vibrant city, and can be loud and dusty. Dar Sholmes is truly a perfect oasis in the city, with comfortable rooms, good food, and all the modern amenities you could hope for.
Nothing at all!
I would like to record the exceptional experience I had with booking my family's accommodation in Marrakech this January through booking.com. Dar sholmes was welcoming and efficiently run. It was clean, cosy and a beautiful oasis in the old medina. We booked 3 of the 6 rooms so, effectively had a floor to ourselves
There was little to complain about. Nothing actually.
The while place was fantastic from the staff to the scrumptious food. The rooms were very comfortable with plenty of hot water. A fantastic stay, would definitely recommend it.
The only slight negative was that it is initialy hard to find, but once you find it, it's fine.
Everything was great, rooms were very clean, the location is very good. Very close to bus station for any direction in town, 5 minutes walking to Jamaa el Fna. Breakfast was also good, they change the food every morning. As a recommandation, maybe to put a TV in the room would be useful.
Friendly staff, clean
Very dat of markets, top deep in small street out the old City and away of markets, not authentic riad, very artificial, i was in 6 different riads in Marokko, this looks like riad. No hot water, and staff New it, could do nothing about it, couldnt shower and they couldnt give alternative because riad was full. Disappointement, i advise to go to real better located riads
We highly recommend this Riad. Hassan, the manager, was extremely helpful, giving us all kind of tips and advices for our stay in Marrakech, he provided us all the information and he was always available to answer our questions. A good breakfast served by friendly staff and we also enjoyed dinner in the beautiful courtyard of the Riad When I return to Marrakech, I will come back to Dar Sholmes. Hassan, thank you very much !! In all the ryads where we stayed the hospitality and personal attention was impressive, so there is a tough competition. Yet, DarSholmes won! We felt so much at home that we came back at the end of our stay in Morocco. The staff, and especially Hafid, was great!. Hafid is very attentive, professionel and like a friend. He has the perfect touch to make guests feel comfortable. Thanks, Hafid! Moreover, we got an upgrade for free and we were offered the use of a room during the day before leaving to the airport. Very kind!
The staff made every possible effort to make are hoilday enjoyable. A perfect mix of friendliness and professionalism. Everything about Dar Sholmes was of the very top order.I would recommend this Riad without any reservations. Perfect.
Inside, the Riad was clean and nicely decorated. The staff were amazing, really nice and did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was brilliant and then Owner took us on a great trip into the Atlas Mountains.
Unfortunately it was cold when we were in Marrakech and the beds or rooms are not equipped for cold weather. The AirCon didn't have proper reverse cycle and didn't heat the room and there was only a sheet and very thin duvet on the bed which kept slipping off due to the covers being silk. As a result we didn't sleep well at all as it was freezing and no additional blankets were available. The Riad isn't in an easily accessible location from the main street and I wouldn't say completely safe. One evening we noticed a lot blood all over the ground from a fight which could have been from a dispute between the owner and his ex-wife (Not actually fighting between them but as a result of). It was also a bit uncomfortable to see a sign protesting against the owner of the Riad directly outside the front door due to the treatment of his staff and although we didn't know the full story it was a bit strange.
We really enjoyed our stay in this Riad! The staff was very very kind and helpful with all our problems! :) Thanks to them we had two nice visits to the cascades of Ouzoud and the Ourika Valley! We loved the traditional breakfast and the morrocan tea with biscuits! After a busy day in the souks it was lovely to come home to such a quiet and calm riad. We will definitely come back to Marrakech and we are already looking forward to visit this riad again! ;)
this was our first time in marrakech and were made to feel at home from the minute we arrived. we would highly recommend a stay here. you are just a short walk from the medina and far enough away from the madness that is marrakech.
super place to stay luc is excellent! we'll be back soon
Wonderful hospitality of the owner and staff Delicious food and wine great entertainment arranged for a Morrocan evening Lovely spacious room and ensuite Hot tub and roof terrace
No faults at all
Luxurious and very spacious bedroom & bath room with a huge bath-tub*. Good breakfast (with freshly squeezed OJ). The reasons why I scored "Good" instead of "Excellent" for Facilities & Comfort: * I am not sure if there would be enough hot water to take a bath as water became cold within 5 minutes of having a shower. My room was on the ground floor and a courtyard, where some guests were dinning, was small: Slightly lack of privacy (not a big issue at all, though).
It was not easy to find this riad. Some kind of signs could be helpful.
