Score from 51 reviews Very good
In all the ryads where we stayed the hospitality and personal attention was impressive, so there is a tough competition. Yet, DarSholmes won! We felt so much at home that we came back at the end of our stay in Morocco. The staff, and especially Hafid, was great!. Hafid is very attentive, professionel and like a friend. He has the perfect touch to make guests feel comfortable. Thanks, Hafid! Moreover, we got an upgrade for free and we were offered the use of a room during the day before leaving to the airport. Very kind!
The staff made every possible effort to make are hoilday enjoyable. A perfect mix of friendliness and professionalism. Everything about Dar Sholmes was of the very top order.I would recommend this Riad without any reservations. Perfect.
Inside, the Riad was clean and nicely decorated. The staff were amazing, really nice and did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was brilliant and then Owner took us on a great trip into the Atlas Mountains.
Unfortunately it was cold when we were in Marrakech and the beds or rooms are not equipped for cold weather. The AirCon didn't have proper reverse cycle and didn't heat the room and there was only a sheet and very thin duvet on the bed which kept slipping off due to the covers being silk. As a result we didn't sleep well at all as it was freezing and no additional blankets were available. The Riad isn't in an easily accessible location from the main street and I wouldn't say completely safe. One evening we noticed a lot blood all over the ground from a fight which could have been from a dispute between the owner and his ex-wife (Not actually fighting between them but as a result of). It was also a bit uncomfortable to see a sign protesting against the owner of the Riad directly outside the front door due to the treatment of his staff and although we didn't know the full story it was a bit strange.
We really enjoyed our stay in this Riad! The staff was very very kind and helpful with all our problems! :) Thanks to them we had two nice visits to the cascades of Ouzoud and the Ourika Valley! We loved the traditional breakfast and the morrocan tea with biscuits! After a busy day in the souks it was lovely to come home to such a quiet and calm riad. We will definitely come back to Marrakech and we are already looking forward to visit this riad again! ;)
this was our first time in marrakech and were made to feel at home from the minute we arrived. we would highly recommend a stay here. you are just a short walk from the medina and far enough away from the madness that is marrakech.
super place to stay luc is excellent! we'll be back soon
Wonderful hospitality of the owner and staff Delicious food and wine great entertainment arranged for a Morrocan evening Lovely spacious room and ensuite Hot tub and roof terrace
No faults at all
Luxurious and very spacious bedroom & bath room with a huge bath-tub*. Good breakfast (with freshly squeezed OJ). The reasons why I scored "Good" instead of "Excellent" for Facilities & Comfort: * I am not sure if there would be enough hot water to take a bath as water became cold within 5 minutes of having a shower. My room was on the ground floor and a courtyard, where some guests were dinning, was small: Slightly lack of privacy (not a big issue at all, though).
It was not easy to find this riad. Some kind of signs could be helpful.
The Riad is great and the service is just excellent. If you look for a Riad in Marrakesh, this is the place to go.
The only thing I would suggest is to improve wi-fi in the second and third floor.
Even before you arrive in Marrakech, the staff is preparing your stay. They help you to organize transportation from any point of the city. The smalls and busy streets to get to the Riad are misleading, but when you get there, you are welcome by the friendly staff, especially Luc and Sara. The Riad is well decorated in every detail. The rooms are fantastic! Everything you could ask for in Marrakech. The breakfast is really nice and you can take it whenever you want. The hotel provides you with a cell phone, which can be really helpful when you do not know the language. The roof has a great view over the city and has a Jacuzzi. Unfortunately, I went during winter and did not use it. But I can’t wait to go back. And if I do, I will definitely stay at dar Sholmes.
The owner asked us to feel at home, and we did. Our stay in Marrakech was a wonderful experience, in which Dar Sholmes, Luc and his wonderful staff played an important role. We highly recommend this riad. The high score is absolutely well earned. The neighbourhood is safe, friendly and clean.
We were absolutely thrilled with our stay here. The staff were very helpful, efficient, and friendly. Luc the owner and Sara the Manager were most charming. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with top quality toiletries. Breakfast was amazing and really set you up for the day ahead. The location couldn't have been better, only 10 minutes walk from the centre in a quiet residential area. Will definitely stay again next year and can't wait.
A fantastic experience staying here! The Riad itself is exquisitely decorated, attention has been paid the minutest detail, from the shawls on the terrace sunbeds to the lovely fluffy towels in the rooms. Our room was beautiful, very nice to come back to after having spent the day walking round the chaos of Marrakech. The courtyard/dining area is a treat to eat in and wonderful to relax in; although this space is quite small we felt at ease relaxing here in close proximity to other guests who were using the area. Breakfast was of a very high quality and having extra warm, fresh bread was never too much trouble for the very friendly and welcoming staff. Luc is an incredible host, he is warm, generous, informative and will go out of his way to ensure that guests have the best possible experience. Thank you!
The information guide in the room gives a list of prices for excursions the Riad arranges for guests – we found out upon checking out that if you pay by card or travellers cheque you have to pay VAT in addition to the prices listed which is not stated. Also, we were slightly confused about the excursion pricing structure as it also does not state that the prices are per trip and not per person.
Nice owner. Staff is friendly. Good facilities. Great signal of wifi.
We had a wonderful & memorable stay in Riad Dar Sholmes. Luc, Sara and the team were fantastic from arrival to departure and nothing was too much trouble for them. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel not only very welcome, but valued guests. The location is excellent and the Riad itself is beautiful. The rooms are large and spotlessly clean and there is a superb roof terrace with great views (which is also handy to get your bearings). Breakfast was most enjoyable and the evening meal that was prepared for us on arrival delicious. We would highly recommend staying here.
The whole experience was exceptional from arrival to departure! We were treated like old and truly valued friends by Luc and his staff throughout our stay. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and arranged everything, such as car rental, smoothlly to our full satisfaction. Breakfast at the roof in the early morning sun with snowcapped Atlas mountains in the distance was a true delight. The location is in a typical Marrakesh living area with narrow alleys (no cars), friendly people and no noise. We will come back for sure!
The owner Luc did not only explain but demonstrated the difference btw hotel and Riad: very personal, helpful and friendly. Terrace is awesome to eat or chill and staff is attentive and fun.
Luc and his team provided exceptional service from the moment we landed until we passed through passport control to return to England. We were met at the airport and driven to the Riad. Once we were settled, having been provided with refreshments, Sara the hotel manager escorted us to the Medina and offered us lots of useful information. The level of service and comfort we experienced during the whole of our stay was exceptional. Luc's knowledge of the area enabled us to make the most of our trip to Marrakesh. The team at the Riad Dar Sholmes are the most warm and friendly staff I have ever experienced in my may years of travelling, I thank them all for making our trip PERFECT I would have no hesitation in recommending this experience.
Everything was Perfect
We loved the atmosphere of Dar Sholmes. The kindness and outstanding service of Luc and his charming staff. The safe area and closeness to the main sites in the city. EVERYTHING
Staff were excellent, accomodation was beautiful. Also a great location. Couldn't recommend highly enough!
After spending some days in Rabat and Casa, we choose Dar Sholmes to feel and live in authentically designed Moroccan house and it was a good choice despite we had 2 days to spend in Marrakech. We had good time with the help of friendly staff, good service and assistance, clean rooms, excellent location to explore city during our stay.
This Riad was so amazing. + Clean + Quiet + Very, very friendly and helpful people
