Decoration theme Location
This one was not the best of our choice although followed by good customer reviews. Even if you book room in this Riad you can end up with one of three other Riads run by these same family (Subject of room availability), as it happened to other quests we had met. Two families were moved to the other Riad in their midstay. We have seen just two and every Riad has different themes (one modern and one traditional). There is no option to book a specific room online leaving an open window to allocate you whatever is free not necessary suitable for the size of your company or if you are travelling as a group you may be allocated in different locations of Medina. To run four Riads is a lot of work but it also means that there are lot of loose ends and upset quests. The Riad has definitely seen better times. It is cryng for bathrooms update, new towels (these were just discousting and I laughed they represented "50 Shades of grey" :)) with yellow "ish" and brown "ish" spots. The good scrub around would be recommended either. One can compromise the dirt being daily add on to the country style but we just moved from spotless, bright Riad with outstanding servise in Essaouira. Riad Swaka was a bit of shock. For the first two nights we were given a coffin of 2meters by 5.5meters for two adults with two children. There was no room to put our luggage - two suitcases and two hand luggage. Coffin was located on the ground floor consisting yellow glazed two narrow windows and door facing main hall area. Exit was straight to path connecting kitchen with dining area located on terrace. Walls were painted dark grey-purple colour. Shower room was under stairs. It has light making buzzling annoying sound. There was no room for bedside tables next to our 1.5 person (called double) bed so night lights were placed in designed wall niches. One of those didn't work.
A brilliant place to relax. More chilled and comfortable (this is important in Marrakech you need to chill ) than stylish although it has superb charm. Ideally situated for shopping and sightseeing Lovely team of staff Recommend it
Perhaps a little difficult to find a wall sign would help
Relaxed, quiet, located in old town, 10 min walk to Jamaa el Fna, next to the palace, comfortable bed, breakfast included, good coffee, additional payment we made to Riad was refunded through the payment to the taxi driver we hired. Friendly staff
Toilet paper has to be disposed in the basket separately, one early breakfast was not prepared due to the illness of the only staff, Jacuzzi has been broken, complicated payment process - Booking.com somehow charged less on the card than it is supposed to be & had to pay the additional balance with cash to match the advertised price.
Very nice boutique riad, with great staff
The staff were lovely. The Riad was charming and having breakfast on the roof top terrace was wonderful. Slept really well and the position of the Riad meant that it was very quiet. I was very touched that when I said about being coeliac, even with the language barrier, they produced foods suitable just for me. Thank you - we had a wonderful few days and hope to return one day soon.
The only issue we had was the taxi transfer, but this was soon sorted and all was well.
Family run riad, which treated us very well. Easy walk to the main square and on the doorstep of some of the other good visitor attractions.
WiFi a little hit and miss.....
Breakfast was very yummy. Gorgeous room. Beautiful roof top. Very quiet yet just a 5 minutes walk to Place el Fna. Super friendly staff.
Breakfast at the roof top was amazing and very good quality. Very quiet all the time. Beautiful setup with an eye to detail throughout the entire Riad Would definitely come again
clean and beautiful riad the boss Mr Walter explained everything i needed to know about Marrakech and excursions staff are nice and reliable at any moment of time I very much thank Latifa for the cooking class and nice and delicious food I really enjoyed being in Marrakech and riad Swaka and i recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Marrakech I thank the whole group, Mr. Walter, Faty, Latifa, Abdo and Mouna I hope to go back in the future
Owner very friendly and helpfull, helped us to found another very nice place to stay, lovely mint tea and cookies :), good internet conection. Definietly to recomend. Owners dont speak good english but we were still ok to comunicate. When going to Morocco you can't expect everyone to speak english,
they welcomed me with a smile and a warm mint tea. for like half an hour they explained me where to go and what to do in Marrakech. My room was great. So was the rooftop lounge. It's a oasis of peace in a very noisy and hectic city.
dirty jacuzzi on rooftop. i travelled in march and it was already hot. A pool wouldn't have been bad :-)
Location was perfect; just a short walk from Jemaa el-fna. Area was safe, staff was great--both Walter and Bryan were warm, friendly, helpful in all respects. Would absolutely stay here again!
Lovely staff, fantastic food, comfortable beds, great atmosphere. Walter, Faty, Brahim, and Latifah were all calm, helpful, and cheerful. Latifah is a wonderful cook (thanks for the cooking lesson!), too. DO stay for dinner at least one evening. DO ask Walter to book your transfer from the airport, at least (we'd never have found it on our own). DO visit the night market, but don't bother eating there, especially after experiencing Latifah's cooking.
