Located in one of the oldest parts of Essaouira, the Medina, near Moulay Alhssan Square, the Riad Dar Latigeo welcomes you to a comfortable and refined environment.
Score from 274 reviews Excellent
This Riad is in the center of Essaouira just steps from the port and beach. Each traditional Moroccan room at the Riad Chakir Mogador has a private bathroom and a sitting area.
Score from 445 reviews Very good
In a small riad located in Essaouira, the Maison du Vent is now a charming hotel mixing traditional features with comfortable amenities. The hotel has 6 double or twin rooms and 3 suites.

Very friendly hosts! Good location in the medina, and cool decor. very happy with our stay here!
The rooms are definitely on the small side, but with great bathrooms and nice decor. If you have a room with a window to the street below, you will hear some street noise at night, although this did not bother us.
The French couple who own this riad and their staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. We loved the location in the medina - an easy walk to everything in Essaouira. The breakfast varied each day of our 3 day stay. (The water concerns affect all of the raids in the city - and it did not bother us.). We look forward to another stay here on our next visit.
Nothing - loved the city and the coolness and quiet of the coast and this riad!
Great and very helpful staff, very good location, nicely renovated rooms, breakfast included. Would go back there if I travel again to Essaouira
Our room had the toilet inside the room only separated by a small wall, which might not be really comfortable. However, other rooms might be different.
Quality of the Riad (water, electricity, toilets, beds, furniture etc.). Everything is in "European" condition. Very nice French owners and personnel. Very good breakfast, good WiFi, perfect location. Nice top roof and even an Haman in the Riad.
Absolutely nothing! Talking with the owners is very good for your French
Excellent breakfast and hospitality. The room was tiny without door in the bathroom but no problem for us. Good location just in the center of Medina.
A bit smelly in the room because of the bathroom.
The breakfast was very good, freshly prepared for the guests. The staff was nice and it was clean enough.
There is no ventilation. Even if it's cool and nice outside, inside was always hot and damp. It was uncomfortable. The plumbing is also an issue; there's a shutter for the shower drain that you have to open before you take a shower and close afterwards. The second you open it it starts smelling like sewers. I really wonder why they don't use a p-trap.
Perfect central location. Great, friendly staff.
Wifi was spotty, didn't work the first day I was there. My room was a little damp.
Staff were wonderful, so helpful and kind. Breakfast was delicious. Room was small but perfect. We loved our short stay here!
The staff was professional and helpful. They met us at the bus stop to lead us to the Riad (definitely would suggest as not to be hassled by taxi drivers, hotel/hostel touts, and people with carts) The staff did our laundry and didn't charge us, but asked for a tip. Breakfast was great. Rooms are unique. Water pressure is good and you can open & close the drain in the shower (which helps keep the drainage smell out of the rooms.)
In our bathroom there was not enough light and a brown shower curtain so the showers were quite dark. There was also just a thin see-through curtain as a bathroom door and the toilet faced the bed...not a huge deal for a married couple, but could be awkward for other travel companions! Unfortunately, the room windows face inside the Riad, so if you have them open, there's no privacy and can raise the noise level (if there is noise). There's no air conditioning (which is not necessary) but a fan would be nice to have in the room to help circulate the air, so we can keep the windows closed.
- location - staff - breakfast
- staff could speak better English - windows opening to inside of the building = hard to get fresh air (typical to Riads)
The staff were lovely and couldn't be more helpful. Lovely breakfasts too. It was very peaceful inside the Riad and it felt very homely
Nothing negative to say. Although some rooms had a very open-plan en suite bathroom which didn't allow much privacy !
This was a really wonderful place to stay in Essaouira. Easy to find from the bus station with the map that they send. The door is a bit inconspicuous, but has a small sign on the door. I stayed one night in the Nejema Double room, and it was clean and cozy. I was able to take a peak at the other rooms, and each looked fresh and unique. I would have been happy to stay in any of them. The manager and housekeeper were very friendly and accommodating. Even though I don't speak French and they don't speak English, we muddled along! Breakfast was delightful with coffee, fresh juice, pastries, breads, yogurt, and fresh fruit. I asked to take it on the terrace, and that was no problem (I would highly recommend, it was lovely!). Overall, I couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay while traveling on my own. Thank you Riad Thais!
The employees leave for the evening around 2 or 3 (which wasn't a problem at all). What was a bit strange was that there were no other guests staying - so I was the only one in the whole Riad for the night! Not a bad thing, just a bit unexpected!
The two ladies running the place are a joy, so welcoming and friendly. Loved the building, and how all the rooms have a different theme. A small riad, only 5 rooms, roof terrace is great, you can hear the sea and the seagulls
I spent 2 nights in this Riad with my mother. It is really beautiful, quiet, great location..but what really makes the difference is the staff! Fatimzahra (the manager) is a great girl, she helps you with all your questions and requests! Also the girl that serves breakfast is really nice! thank you girls..hope to come back one day!!
Really friendly staff, stylish Riad and room, good breakfast. Would definitely recommend a stay, especially at this price.
Room was quite small but still excellent value.
Very nice riad ! We were greatly welcomed, perfect service !
The host, Fatimzara, was wonderful. We place was beautiful and in a great location
small, familiar, beautiful riad with delicious breakfast, the staff was very friendly and helpful, wonderful roof terrace, well-sized rooms which are lovely decorated
bathroom is integrated in some of the rooms and not separated by a wall
We spent three nights in this beautifully appointed Rian. Everywhere you cast your eye was evidence of a warm, welcoming space. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Most of all we were appreciative of the enthusiasm, grace and intelligence of Fatimzara and the hard work and dedication to service of the other employee (sorry we do not know her name). We recommend this accommodation without reservation. We will hold very happy memories of our visit to Essaouira.
We absolutely loved our 2 nights stay in this beautiful riad. The rooms are veryyyy clean and well maintained, with clean and fresh sheets and towels provided. the manager and the housekeeper are the friendliest people you can meet in Essaouira always smiling and ready to help, they made our stay very nice and they were very helpful (thank you Fatimzahra and Fatima). Each room has a different, unique design, which made it more special, and also the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended !!
The staff is verry nice! The breakfirst is huge and verry good ! The Riad is beautiful! It was a verry good choice for us !
Great sense of style. the room was morroccan style compact with attention to detail. The staff were attentive and the room was very good value. lovely breakfast too.
Nice location, good interior design and delicious breakfast.
Overly price and quite pretentious. Small and bad smell bedroom, w.c. bath and shower built-in closet, shower running out fast of hot water. No Wifi coverage in room.
We loved the riad. The room was cozy and comfortable. The room had no heating but the blankets were thick and good and gave us one of the most restful nights in the trip. The host was very pleasant and helpful. She provided us with a ton of useful information about things to do in town.
The bathroom is part of the room and gives no privacy. The water of the shower comes straight from above and it is hard to avoid wetting your hair.
Bedroom very nice, beautifully decorated, simple but beautiful. Very helpful and nice staff. Delicous breakfeast, and no problem to have it on the rooftop! We appreaciated that.
Toilet-closet is open in the room, maybe not so much privacy.. depending of the people. Nice rooftop but not really a big view bc it's not the highest building.
