In a small riad located in Essaouira, the Maison du Vent is now a charming hotel mixing traditional features with comfortable amenities. The hotel has 6 double or twin rooms and 3 suites.

The owners and the staff were so nice. Above and beyond attentive. The place was so clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately the structure of the building and the rooms with large Windows facing into a center column made it so every noise from every room could be heard. Being intimate here would either be rude or awkward which is a shame because it's so lovely. Even just having late conversations made us worried to wake other guests.
I can't really fault our stay. We were received a warm welcome, the room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had everything we needed including sound recommendations of the local attractions and restaurants. The owners are a wonderful French couple who are passionate about the area and their Riad, reflect the chilled out vibe of Essaouira and made us feel at home. Thanks for a lovely stay!!!
It is very stylish riad in the medina, location is excellent, the staff are very helpful and friendly.
The staff was friendly and nice. The breakfast was also good.
Hard to find. We booked this last minute the morning we left Marrakech for Essaouria. We didn't see the email from the Riad with the map to find the Riad and as result it took us forever to find this place. Don't use Google Maps in Essaouria! Not many people knew this Riad so that made finding it even harder. We spent good 30-45 mins walking around the town finding this place. Anyhow, this was not there mistake but something you keep in mind if you still want to stay here. The room was overall okay but it got quite stuffy and started smelling bad after a few hours. We initially booked the room for 1 night but we liked Essaouria a lot and decided to stay one more night. We were too lazy to change the hotel after the long day we had. The housekeeping lady probably forgot her phone and it kept ringing the whole night. We woke up early because we wanted to see the sun rise but to our surprise the housekeeping lady only came back to the Riad around 8 am! We didn't mind as the housekeeping lady was nice to us. The second night luckily was quieter with no phone ringing through the night. When we checked out we were surprised to learn that we have to pay 5 euros extra for last minute booking! Not sure why. We booked last minute for the first night using booking.com and where not charged anything extra. For the second night, since we booked directly, it should have actually been the same price, if not lower!
- French owners were very polite and helped us any time if we had questions - breakfast was tasty - the architecture of the house is lovely
Difficulty understanding English, thats also my fault. Would not accept Visa payment
Location was perfect, the staff was really friendly and helpful and its really cheap.
Rooms are very small and bathroom is separated by a courtain, and room was a little bit smelly due to bad ventilation. I wouldn't stay more than a few days.
We had to leave early in the morning but the owner left our breakfast prepared in the kitchen. She was very kind.
We felt a bit o humidity, but we think it me be typical of Essaouira.
Very friendly hosts! Good location in the medina, and cool decor. very happy with our stay here!
The rooms are definitely on the small side, but with great bathrooms and nice decor. If you have a room with a window to the street below, you will hear some street noise at night, although this did not bother us.
The French couple who own this riad and their staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. We loved the location in the medina - an easy walk to everything in Essaouira. The breakfast varied each day of our 3 day stay. (The water concerns affect all of the raids in the city - and it did not bother us.). We look forward to another stay here on our next visit.
Nothing - loved the city and the coolness and quiet of the coast and this riad!
Great and very helpful staff, very good location, nicely renovated rooms, breakfast included. Would go back there if I travel again to Essaouira
Our room had the toilet inside the room only separated by a small wall, which might not be really comfortable. However, other rooms might be different.
Quality of the Riad (water, electricity, toilets, beds, furniture etc.). Everything is in "European" condition. Very nice French owners and personnel. Very good breakfast, good WiFi, perfect location. Nice top roof and even an Haman in the Riad.
Absolutely nothing! Talking with the owners is very good for your French
Excellent breakfast and hospitality. The room was tiny without door in the bathroom but no problem for us. Good location just in the center of Medina.
A bit smelly in the room because of the bathroom.
The breakfast was very good, freshly prepared for the guests. The staff was nice and it was clean enough.
There is no ventilation. Even if it's cool and nice outside, inside was always hot and damp. It was uncomfortable. The plumbing is also an issue; there's a shutter for the shower drain that you have to open before you take a shower and close afterwards. The second you open it it starts smelling like sewers. I really wonder why they don't use a p-trap.
Perfect central location. Great, friendly staff.
Wifi was spotty, didn't work the first day I was there. My room was a little damp.
Staff were wonderful, so helpful and kind. Breakfast was delicious. Room was small but perfect. We loved our short stay here!
The staff was professional and helpful. They met us at the bus stop to lead us to the Riad (definitely would suggest as not to be hassled by taxi drivers, hotel/hostel touts, and people with carts) The staff did our laundry and didn't charge us, but asked for a tip. Breakfast was great. Rooms are unique. Water pressure is good and you can open & close the drain in the shower (which helps keep the drainage smell out of the rooms.)
In our bathroom there was not enough light and a brown shower curtain so the showers were quite dark. There was also just a thin see-through curtain as a bathroom door and the toilet faced the bed...not a huge deal for a married couple, but could be awkward for other travel companions! Unfortunately, the room windows face inside the Riad, so if you have them open, there's no privacy and can raise the noise level (if there is noise). There's no air conditioning (which is not necessary) but a fan would be nice to have in the room to help circulate the air, so we can keep the windows closed.
- location - staff - breakfast
- staff could speak better English - windows opening to inside of the building = hard to get fresh air (typical to Riads)
The staff were lovely and couldn't be more helpful. Lovely breakfasts too. It was very peaceful inside the Riad and it felt very homely
Nothing negative to say. Although some rooms had a very open-plan en suite bathroom which didn't allow much privacy !
This was a really wonderful place to stay in Essaouira. Easy to find from the bus station with the map that they send. The door is a bit inconspicuous, but has a small sign on the door. I stayed one night in the Nejema Double room, and it was clean and cozy. I was able to take a peak at the other rooms, and each looked fresh and unique. I would have been happy to stay in any of them. The manager and housekeeper were very friendly and accommodating. Even though I don't speak French and they don't speak English, we muddled along! Breakfast was delightful with coffee, fresh juice, pastries, breads, yogurt, and fresh fruit. I asked to take it on the terrace, and that was no problem (I would highly recommend, it was lovely!). Overall, I couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay while traveling on my own. Thank you Riad Thais!
The employees leave for the evening around 2 or 3 (which wasn't a problem at all). What was a bit strange was that there were no other guests staying - so I was the only one in the whole Riad for the night! Not a bad thing, just a bit unexpected!
The two ladies running the place are a joy, so welcoming and friendly. Loved the building, and how all the rooms have a different theme. A small riad, only 5 rooms, roof terrace is great, you can hear the sea and the seagulls
I spent 2 nights in this Riad with my mother. It is really beautiful, quiet, great location..but what really makes the difference is the staff! Fatimzahra (the manager) is a great girl, she helps you with all your questions and requests! Also the girl that serves breakfast is really nice! thank you girls..hope to come back one day!!
Really friendly staff, stylish Riad and room, good breakfast. Would definitely recommend a stay, especially at this price.
Room was quite small but still excellent value.
Very nice riad ! We were greatly welcomed, perfect service !
