In the heart of Essaouira, this hotel is in a house dating from the 19th century and is decorated in a traditional Moroccan style.
Score from 569 reviews Very good
Located in Essaouira’s medina, this seafront riad offers stylish rooms with a traditional Moroccan décor and 2 terraces with sea views.
Score from 147 reviews Wonderful
Next to the ocean, the Mimouna is a traditional riad (Moroccan house) offering peaceful accommodations and a large terrace with panoramic sea views in Essaouira.
Score from 141 reviews Very good
In a traditional and authentic 18th-century riad located 330 yards from the beach in Essaouira, Maison du Sud is in the heart of the medina (historic quarter).
Score from 120 reviews Very good
Fish restaurant, superb food, excellent service, great views. Location good if into water sports. Would suit surfers.
Hotel atrium it was in need of an overall, it felt dark & oppressive.
What did you like? Essentially everything. The location may be a 20minute or so walk from the ramparts but it is wonderfully close to the beach, some restaurants on the beach and you have access to beach activities like camel / horse riding, quad biking or windsurfing right at your door step. The staff here are phenomenal, very professional while being friendly, helpful. They are all incredibly welcoming and nothing you ask is too hard. They are also very multi lingual. Too be honest though our highlight was the pool, or rather a) sunbathing around the pool, or b) admiring the turtles and tortoises that call this riad home. I think everyone of all ages ends up being fascinated by the creatures at one stage or another. I can whole heartedly say that any one visiting Essaouira should make Riad Zahra their first choice for accommodation.
The only two minor negatives was the shower head, it squirted water everywhere but on you and most would consider the beds to be quite hard. Very small things though.
Close to the beach and 15 min walk from the Medina excellent restaurants on site friendly helpful staff. Value for money Very clean and well laid out
The only thing I can think of would be that the wifi drops out.
We were treated so well by all the lovely staff here that we felt very welcome all of our time here. A beautifully appointed hotel with good breakfasts and meals in the restaurant.
Maybe if anything the pool was a bit cold even in July. Very very windy ( even for here) .probably had a lot to do withi it!
Staff were amazingly helpful, they organised anything I wanted. Very relaxing poolside and the food in the restaurants was great.
Extremely kind staff, great breakfast and perfect location, within 2 minutes of the beach and a 20 minute beachwalk to the medina. The staff makes you feel right at home.
Stuff very friendly and helpful, quite place
Staff were fairly friendly and happy to arrange taxis/excursions. Pool area was never too busy. Great view from the restaurant of the beach although the food itself was average and over priced.
Breakfast was lacking- yoghurts were often out of date and crepes were cold. The wifi connectivity was inconsistent (could only be accessed if at all in some areas of the hotel).
Amazing staff!! Excellent restaurant. Bed was a bit hard but overall a very good Riad. Very accommodating.
Fantastic fresh food, very calm and quiet area, close to the beach, very friendly owner:-) I recommend for everybody!
Everything- especially the staff. We got treated much better here than in a 4* hotel in Marrakesh
The owners and staff are amazing and really lovely and I wish I could stay longer. Nice pool with resident turtles (tortoise?) for kicks.
Wifi did not work well in my room but I was probably as far as one could be from the router!. All other parts of property worked great
Exceeded my expectations. - comfort - good size room and bathroom - clean - great breakfast with healthy options - hotel and pool areas very nice - restaurant - reasonably priced and great food - staff extremely helpful and kind
Staff were excellent always willing to help and would help with any requests. Breakfast was simple but pleasant with comfortable surroundings. Really enjoyed our stay.
Pool was possibly too cold mainly as it can get rather breezy. Minor issue really.
Our hosts were charming and the tortoises in the pool were a delight. The breakfast was the most varied we experienced in Morocco. The hotel is in quiet neighborhood very close to the beach.
There is a 20 minute walk to the Medina. However, the walk is charming as it is along the beach.
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay - the owners and their family are lovely and extremely helpful. Our room was huge, the pool was sheltered and a good size and the breakfasts were great.
They said you could get WI-FI any where in the Riad. Def. got nothing in our room.
It Ticked all the boxes across the board, I would stay there again!
That I couldn't stay there longer!
The staff (mum, dad and son), especially, made you feel part of the family! It was a beautiful place to stay, and after Agadir (I've travelled all over in Morocco since 1990), it was still a real bit of authentic Morocco. Much enjoyed. The owners could not be more helpful.
I just would have appreciated a heated pool. It looked so beautiful and inviting, but my English weakness, would prevent me from entering water too cold, I'm afraid!
The very friendly staff
a long walk to the town
The Riad is fantastic, very well located. Only few minute walking from the Riad and you are on the beach, also the old medina is just 15 minutes walking away. The staff is super, always ready to help you with a big smile on their face. The rooms are very well maintained and extremely clean. One of the best riad I never been to. Thanks guys!
Unbeliviable friendly staff and owners! Very nice menu and competent kitchen. And as an example: every morning the pool-guy almost polishes the furniture around the pool, and with a big smile! We recommend highly.
The breakfast is good, but they could vary it a bit....
Nice pool Rich breakfast Beautiful room, clean and nicely decorated Friendly staff Great value!
Bare in mind the Riad is a 20min walk from the Medina
Stayed for a week and the owners and staff were excellent. All extremely friendly and helpful. Food good throughout the stay; the owners eat all their meals in the hotel restaurant which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. The upstairs grill restaurant was even more impressive. And the food costs are on a par with other locations, but typically better quality. 20 mins walk to the medina - but this is not a necessarily bad thing.
A lovely Riad with a beautiful and charming central courtyard. The owners and staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and the food and facilities were excellent.
