Pascal was very helpful in giving us the basic guide to marrakech and few places to go. Rooms were well maintained. Azzadean was very helpful in telling us all the local tricks.
The Location is good, And The staff is extremely nice. The building is original and beautiful.
A little bit cold in winter. The room had the bathtub/shower right next To The bed without any separation, not even a shower curtain; being a group of 5 people it wasn't easy to take a shower in private!
Location is perfect if you like to walk around and enjoy the medina. Jemaa el Fana is 15 mins, Bahia Palace 2 mins, El Badi Palace 7 mins. The walk to the square can be a bit daunting, especially when walking back at night as the shops tend to close around 9-10pm. The actual riad is beautifully decorated, if somewhat dark. We stayed in the biggest room, Zanzibar family room. This had a single and double bed on the ground floor and another double bed on a second level just above the entrance to the room. It also has a private entrance to the riad's rooftop terrace which was great and very handy. Bathroom and room was cleaned every morning. They provided free mint tea and coffee whenever you want. Staff were so lovely! I don't understand how some people had difficulty getting through to them. Pascal the owner was very informative - at first seemed a little off but you warm up to him very quickly. He helped with suggesting local restaurants and how to get to places. We had return transafer booked, both were on time. The staff (I don't remember their names unfortunately but were brother and sister) were so friendly. Their English wasn't great but they were still very helpful and tried to cimmunicate. Think the brother was practicing his English with my father! All in all beautiful riad, would definitely come back here.
Room was very cold, unfortunately we went during the cold season. Heater in room worked for the top level bedroom but the lower level never got warm so wrap up or take a few extra layers. The shower pressure wasn't always too great.
It was really close to the big square and The staff was wery polite and helpfull.
Pascal was very helpful when our flight was delayed and he had his driver pick us up from train station well past midnight. Izzeddine was very helpful in many ways. The location is great, just few minutes walk from Jemaa El Fnaa. Overall it was great experience staying at Riad Zanzibar.
I think the only thing that probably needs to fixed is the bathtub in middle of the room. This was not practical for our family.
great location, very quiet but central in the medina. Beautiful riad, very authentic.
watch the stairs if you have small children. For kids above 5 years it's no problem. Like most riads, somewhat chilly in the evenings but warm bedding compensates.
I was looking for a cozy little place near the old city (Medina) which would offer use authentic Moroccan experience and Riad Zanzibar did not disappoint. It's a lovely Riad/Villa/Haweli within Medina (just a few minutes walk from all the main attractions and the big square) with a lot of period details and a lovely team (Azaddin, Mellika and Wafa, who went out of their way to ensure that you were comfortable). Pascal, the owner/manager is very hospitable and puts you at ease almost immediately with his 'welcome to Marrakech' speech. He is very knowledgeable about the place and knows exactly what a visitor needs and provides the right level of advise and assistance. Pascal also gave us a free upgrade for some of the nights we were there, when a better room was available. Breakfast is decent and lounging in the lovely terrace, basking in the gentle sun and looking out at the Koutubia tower was a pleasure. They provide a free transfer from the airport if you stay for more than 3 nights and the return transfer is also easily arranged for 150 Dh. They also run day tours to Ourika valley (highly recommend) and other places. The driver, Ehsan is very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall - great place, great location, great service at a reasonable price.
Great location and the owner was very helpful in providing a great deal of information about Marrakech.
Although very knowledgable about Marrakech, the owner was also very absent-minded. We almost missed our flight home because of his inattentive action on hotel-provided transport to the airport.
Traditional decorated, friendly staff, room available for group of people.
Not enough socket, sahara trip was at an extremely high price comparing with agency, bathroom is poor especially shower head.
The location of the Riad was perfect. We had 4 young children with us, the hospitality of the staff was unbelievable. We left feeling like we were leaving family behind. We will be going back next year. Pascal was very helpful right from the booking up until we left. Many activities to partake if required or just relax on the terrace. Highly recommend staying here if visit Marrakech.
The looks of the hotel is cute, bright and authentic but not worth the stress.
The owner was overly micromanaging. Guests are not allowed to talk to the staff and we had to get a hold of him (not easy) for anything and everything. He would give a casual answer that would not help! When I asked for a tour map and site locations he hand scratched something ridiculous on a white paper pointing tens of ATM machines!!! cause he won't take credit cards :)))) You will feel like him and his strange minion always watching you. No privacy, so uncomfortable. He told us that we have to be very quiet... but his toddler screams and cry all day long starting early in the morning. He will badmouth night venues in the city and suggests you to stay in the hotel and enjoy some rose! It is not complimentary as he makes it sound like :))) Don't listen to him, go out and enjoy your night out. I would have more fun and even more privacy if I stayed in a hostel like my other friends did. Oh! one more issue, the water pipes need to be updated, the shower water is extremely weak.
Owner very friendly and gave great brief if what to visit. Brilliant rooftop area for breakfast and lounging. Nice roof plus patio Pool a bit small
Traditional decor throughout the hotel was perfect and shared roof terrace as well.
Bathtube located in the middle of the bedroom is not a good idea.
Going to Marrakesh is not for the faint of heart. Its fast-paced, busy, and overwhelming at times. Coming back to Riad Zanzibar was finding an oasis in the desert. When you walk through the doors you are immediately relaxed and at-home. The owner is friendly and very helpful. Right when you get in, you get mint tea and incredibly helpful information getting around the city. The rest of the staff is also very friendly and helpful. I can't recommend this place enough.
location, guest, breakfast, wifi, cleaning, bed, bathroom, furniture, everything was perfect, thank you pascal
Interior design was nice, and staff was friendly. The location is good, close to the Djamaa El Fna. Neighborhood is also ok (despite some commentaries I read).
When we arrived we waited for 10 minutes before a closed door (the concierge had fallen asleep). The breakfast was standard Moroccan except for the bad coffee and we were served tap water by the waitress. No dining facilities. Swimming pool looked dirty. On departure payment by card not possible, only cash. The owner is French -but not present when we were there, only local staff.
Location was excellent, the place was very clean and the staff were so friendly, I would fully recommend staying here. If you want a clean and friendly place to stay near the square, then this is the place, fully recommend.
All positive, no negatives.
The location was very good and the riad was mostly clean and comfortable. Hussein with whom we dealt mostly was extremely useful and always tried to help. If only he was in charge!
The owners were not what we had expected after reading other reviews. The female owner was not particularly polite and welcoming, but at least she was accommodating, and was kind to organise my trip back to the airport at no cost as agreed. The next day, the male owner who had been away until then was plain rude to my two female friends. Even though it had been agreed the day before their departure that the transport to the airport would be free (as advertised on the website), he bullied them into paying for their own taxi. It was the first contact they had with him and needless to say it left them with a rather bitter taste. There are many nice riads in town and I would not recommend this one because of its pretentious owners. A real shame as our few days in Marrakesh were excellent otherwise.
I really loved the style of the Riad, very cool - it even had an open firepalce beside the reception which gave it a great ambience. The breakfast was lovely and changed each day - I really enjoyed the same changes, as we had eaten pretty much the same breakfast everywhere we had been.
We had travelld over 18 hours to get to the Riad and we were exhausted. They have a real coffee machine and a juicer for breakfast (which is lovely don't get me wrong) but the shape of the lobby allows the noise of these two appliances to travel upwards. We had wanted a lie-in but didn't get it on either day, as the noise was loud. The rest of the day/evening, the Riad was totally quiet. Not much you can do about it , but I felt it affected my sleep/stay.
It was a wonderful time that we spent in the Riad Zanzibar. Everything was great, I highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice, quiet, clean place with a 100% Moroccan atmosphere. I was very sad that I have to leave this place.
a very nice riad, good location, fantastic breakfast.the staff were very helpfull, and plesant,as was the owner Pascal,he gave us lots of advice and tips on safety and prices.would recommend this riad.
there was no where in the riad to get cold drinks, could have done with aircon in bedroom, otherwise everything was very good.
Beautifully decorated, nice room, great breakfast at roof terrace and nice little pool. Friendly staff. No noise from the street and yet centrally located. Tip: you can park your car in a guarded parking area and one of the car park guys will bring you to the entrance of the riad (which is just a door in a wall in an alley).
The bed is pretty hard, but this is rather typical for Morocco, we found.
It's beautiful and tranquil. The plunge pool is a nice touch, and our teenage kids used this plenty. The rooftop terrace is superb. Staff were more than helpful, and so friendly Location perfect. Can't recommend enough
This riad is perfectly located for exploring Marrakech. Pascal the owner is very happy to help and guide you on how to get the best from your trip.
This is a lovely Riad, not too far from the main square. It has a delightful terrace and a small pool under its open roof. The room was great and the bathroom luxurious. We would definitely stay here again. Staff were really helpful too
It is a little dark on the ground floor, but that is the nature of Riads. They only have light coming in from the square hole at the top.
