Mr Hassan and his crew provided excellent service for the time we stayed in this beautiful Riad. We can recommend it to everyone. Nice rooms, breakfast was plentyful, dinner on the roof terrace was wonderful.
This has been the best riad we have stayed in Morocco. Everything was perfect: location, staff, breakfast, dinner, rooms, internet, hamam. We were even upgraded to one of its suites. We can recommend this riad to everyone. Secure parking is also possible close to the riad (Place Batha) where M. Cohen, the manager, can pick you up. You may want to watch out for false guides when you come closer to Batha Square. We did the mistake and stopped the car for a second to look on our map and to call M. Cohen when a young guy offered to help. We tried to tell him in a nice way that we didnt need a guide/accomodation/etc. He told me not to be paranoid, that he didnt want money, just wanted to help and that a simple "schukran" was enough if he guides us to the right place. We were really lucky because M. Cohen was walking on Batha Square right in that moment and brought us to that secure parking space. That false guide then did not only insult me in English/French but also M. Cohen in Arabic. Apart from that little incident, I can only repeat how great this place is.
A beautifully restored ryad, perfectly located in a quiet street just a few minutes walk from the medina. We received a warm welcome from the manager Hassan and his team and were treated treated wonderfully throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. We highly recommend a stay here.
First time in years to hear no machine sounds at all! The decorations were magenifecent The hammam was great
Initially walking into Ryad Alya one is met by the most magnificent courtyard with beautiful ceramics and wonderful carvings. The welcome by the manager and his staff could not be warmer or more welcoming. The food was outstanding and our suite was a dream come true
Having to leave
The location, the central courtyard.
The room was very long and narrow, and the bathroom design was awkward
From the moment we arrived, we felt like special guests. Zoueha and Fatima were fantastic, Zoueha being particularly helpful and always with a smile. The Ryad was beautifully decorated, spacious rooms and very good breakfasts
That l did not leave a tip for Zoueha
Upon our arrival to Fez we decided to stay at this Riad and I have to stay this place has exceeded our expectation!! From the moment we walked in to the last day of our stay. The Staff welcoming and hospitality was amazing! The service and is excellent and there was no request that was not well taken care of! We even had the chance to assist to a Pre-Wedding ( Hanna ) and the experience was just memorable. I definitely would go back and not only for me but to anyone who's visiting this historical city.
Some places won't leave a special mark that endures over time, and without a doubt Ryad Alya is one of them. Hassan Cohen, the manager was so kind, helpful and best host.
Everything - right from the warm welcome by Hassan and his team, the hospitality, moroccon tea served at all times, sumptous breakfast, nice clean comfortable and spacious rooms, hammam - everything was simply excellent and has left us with great memories. Kids loved the place and the small turtle too! Hassan was very hospitable and I would recommend this place to anyone. Truly Moroccon!
Parking area is not at the building. However, it was in close proximity.
The location of the hotel is quite good, getting off the taxi from the train station, just a few minutes walk. It is not far from the medina, you can easily walk to shop around and dine in the restaurants. The staff is really helpful and tried their best to help us whatever questions we raised! You can enjoy your breakfast leisurely in this Morcco style hotel !
The hotel is not new and a bit worn out, but is clean and comfortable!
This place is really wonderful to stay. Great bed, great location, great quality breakfest, and people are warm!! This place is very morrocan so it was a memorable experience to stay. I also tried traditional morrocan dinner at the roof with extra 25euros pet person. I will definitely stay here again, If i visit fez again! No regrats if you stay here!
Everything was great! The location was at the beginning of the Medina in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The manager, Hassan and his team were amazing, polite, very hospitable and extremely helpful. The amazing moroccan dinner, the guide to the Medina, the massage and hamam which Hassan recommended were definitely worth our money. We loved the delicious and fresh breakfast. The decoration of the Ryad and the Rabat Suite we stayed were excellent. We would definitely recommend it to everyone! Thanks for everything! :)
The staff are very friendly and helpful, from giving advice on tourist attractions and organizing activities to helping with light illnesses. The hotel manager deserves an award for the personal attention he gives every guest. Ryad Alya is unique in that it has a team of dedicated, professional staff that truly care, and that´s what made our stay so very special!!! Thank you for an unforgettable experience!!! Also the interiors are absolutely spectacular, decorated with great taste, rooms are very spacious, the beds are big and comfortable and the hi-tech air-con works wonders :-) Overall, Ryad Alya is a gem well worth discovering!!!
Nothing... It´s a perfect place.
I don't usually write reviews but I felt that this one is well deserved. We arrived to Fes after midnight and right away Zouhir, who works there at night and also makes the breakfast welcomed us very warmly and showed us to our rooms. He made us feel comfortable right away. At breakfast the next morning everything was delicious. The breakfast was fresh and complete. We met Hassan, who is the manager, at breakfast. He is warm and makes you feel at home and always makes sure everything is going well. They are both very nice and constantly make sure the stay in both Fes and the ryad is a good one. All throughout the trip they both asked if we need anything or if they can help us in any way. I must mention that I have a special dietary need and they were really able to provide me with the right breakfast. The rooms were clean and the wifi (I know this is important to many people) had a strong signal throughout the ryad. The location is excellent as it is only a 5-10 minute walk to Bab Boujloud, which is the main entrance to the old medina. The hotel was very clean as staff was always cleaning the room and the downstairs patio. We stayed here for 3 days. I can say 1 thing. We traveled to many cities in Morocco but in this Ryad was by far the most welcoming and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this Ryad to anyone who is looking to go to Fes no matter how short or long the visit. Even after I left Fes, Hassan contacted me throught my trip in Morocco to make sure everything is going well and that we are enjoying our trip. EXCELLENT+++++
- excellent and friendly staff, always willing to help - amazing location, a short walk to the heart of the medina - fantastic rooftop view to watch the sunset and sunrise - great amenities, very comfortable place to stay
Alya is a beautiful Riad, traditional yet warm and modern touches. The staff were very helpful and the rooms are amazing for the price! Really recommend spending the money and having dinner there, the food was incredible.
there was nothing to complain about
We spent two nights in the riad in the beginning of August 2014. The manager, Mr. Cohen, was just amazing, very helpfull and friendly. He helped us to organise the whole trip from Marrakech to Fes by a very excelent driver and arranged for us a guid through the city, which we enjoyed a lot. We can only recomend this riad to everyone who is considering to visit the misterious city of Fés.
Extremely pleasant place with a wonderful terrace and a cosy hammam. Very nice breakfast and dinners Hassan is a perfect host !
Friendliness of staff nice and a pleasant place helpful in providing information
The staff, especially Mr. Hassan, were very attentive and professional. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the courtyard and breakfast was plentiful and fresh. We also had a wonderful hammam and massage in the spa downstairs which was very welcome after a day spent touring Fes. Mr. Hassan arranged an excellent guide for us as well as taxis to and from the station.
Though not an issue for us, the en suite bathroom was located up a flight of stairs which were quite steep and narrow. Also, as with many Riads, the taxi could only drop off on the road so we had to take our luggage along a narrow alley. Again, this was not a problem for us but worth knowing if you have heavy cases without wheels!
Riad Alya is beautiful, with a wonderfully restored courtyard and some spectacular bedrooms. As with all Riads in the medina, the street outside is small and unimpressive. But the inside is outstanding. There are a couple of rooms that would be extremely romantic for a couple and the rooftop deck is a welcome haven in the evenings. Staff are top-notch: friendly, helpful, and kind without being intrusive. The dinner we had one night was out favorite in Morocco.
You need to be in the courtyard to get good wi-fi reception.
Hospitality by mr. Hassan Warm welcome Beautiful ryad Dinner at the roof terrace Et cetera
The staff is absolutely wonderful and helps book any tours or drivers you may need, the rooms and center court yard are beautiful. Dinner on the roof is an absolute must- delicious with a beautiful view.
The wifi doesn't work well in the upper rooms, so you may have to sit downstairs to use it.
After travelling extensively through Morocco & Spain, my wife and I agree that Alya was the most beautiful of all. Not only the detailed beauty/architecture of the Ryad, but the attentiveness of the staff made our stay there the most amazing of our travels.
