Score from 351 reviews Very good
The Riad looked lovely. We received a warm welcome and tips on tours and restaurants.
The hot water was intermittent and we needed to use the shower in one of our friends room because we had absolutely no hot water! Not ideal seeing as we just returned from a tour camping in the desert. I was charged for the room before checking out. That would not normally be a problem but as I booked rooms for my friends too, I was charged for those rooms too without any notice.
friendly helpful staff food breakfast overall accommodation
room a little tired in places find the place was hard on our first night
Big room with enough space for us + 2 young children. Staff very welcoming and fond of children. Enough space upstairs and on the roof terrace to stay clear of the pool in the patio (beautiful but not so easy to manage with young children!) Delicious breakfast! We didn't stay long enough to try another meal!
Very good location, nice and friendly staff
There was no fluffy white towels as advertised but some with dark marks and holes. Very small room.
This is a great place to stay. Right in the heart of life in Media. While inside you have the peace and tranquility you need for a relaxing stay. Staff are excellent, very friendly.
The only thing I personally didn't like was the breakfast. I don't like eggs, so only choice was cold bread and jam. They could put some cakes, cereal and fruit for people like me and toast.
The hotel in general was comfortable and to a reasonable standard.Good value for money. Location was excellent. Food at the hotel was very good and the breakfast was more than adequate to set you up for a days sightseeing.Staff were very pleasant and attentive and spoke a variety of languages
The design of the hotel does leave it open to being noisy if guests are not aware of their surroundings and others. Otherwise it was very peaceful.
The staff were amazing. nothing is too much trouble. .The Riad itself is charming, very comfortable, peaceful, welcoming and very well located. It offered good value, good food and some lovely personal touches. Would go back tomorrow without hesitation.
Water pressure not good, but believe this problem is being addressed. Also you need to know there is a local hotel tax per person. We were not aware of this, but it really wasn't much.
Good location. Walking distance from main square. Excellent customer service from supervisor Mohammed - really took care of us and our needs. Felt at home.
Nothing about the Riad, but if anyone in the area offers to show you around for free, just politely decline. The riad staff can arrange excursions for you.
Nick, Mohamed and Aziz could not have been more helpful. Delicious dinner. Lots of special touches like free tangerines and mint tea. Nick and his team have got it just right - the attention to detail was first class.
The team at Riad Africa made our group of 4 girls feel really welcome in the crazy city that is Marrakech. They were really helpful and sorted out any requests that we had, going above and beyond to make us feel at home! We use the Riad as a base for our 5 days in Morocco and went on a day trip to the mountains which was all organised for us by the Riad team. The Riad is a relaxing home from home near to the busy markets but not slap bang in the middle of the madness, which we loved!
Bedding and towels were not changed as often as we would have liked, but staff were really helpful when we requested a new set so this was not an issue!
From the moment we arrived at the Riad, the staff were very friendly and helpful and this continued throughout our stay. Mohamed provided us with a very useful map and explained how to get to places of interest. Our room was lovely, very clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, especially when enjoyed on the lovely roof terrace. The location is great - 2 minutes from the taxi drop off point (recommend you pre-book this) and around 5 minutes walk from Jamaa el Fnaa. Really enjoyed our stay, Marrakech is an amazing place.
The roof terrace. Looking down on the pool from above. Being close to everything but in a very secluded street.
The bathroom floor needed reprinting and the hot water was so erratic that you were alternately scalded and chilled under the shower. We'd advise visitors to take an adaptable plug and have a bath. It wouldn't use any more water than Trying to use the shower.
Close to Jemma el Fna yet quiet. Well kept and clean. Helpful, friendly staff
Useless gadgets in the room, yet no Wi-Fi. Booking should include instructions on how to find the place.
Location great, loved the sun terrace, staff were very friendly and helpful, good food too
In the first room the beds were not great, better in the second
Great location, loved the roof garden, nice place to chill out. Food was delicious, we ate at the riad 4 nights out of 5. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, would recommend.
This riad is well-located with very friendly and helpful staff. Tim the manager was great fun and had lots of useful info about where to go and what to do. Good value - we're intending to send our daughter there as a 21st birthday present and will stay there again ourselves.
For our final stop after a long road trip through Spain and Morocco we made a last-minute booking in Riad Africa. We soon learned that we could not have made a better choice, and were quickly made to feel like we’re staying in a distant family’s home. The feeling that you have a home to come back to at the end of a hot crazy day at the Marrakech market just cannot be beat. Comparing to other Riads we stayed at in Morocco, this one takes the prize. At the risk of using a cliché, we have to say we came to see it as a true oasis where the quiet rooftop patio provided a quiet break from the loud bustle of the streets, the cold pools a counterattack for the scorching heat, and the staff – a trusted support network (which I’m sure is not in their job description). We never locked our doors, loved sitting around on the patio and at the pool, and generally spent way too much time at the Raid considering we came a long way to see Marrakech. We had a beautiful room with homey Moroccan décor, and (I have to point out) some sort of Ferrari of an air conditioner that made no sound but quickly adjusted the room to the desired temperature. The manager and staff were incredible hosts, and every day we felt like they were going out of their way to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. We could not learn enough ways to say thank you in Arabic /French to keep up with everything they did. Some guests complained that it took long to receive breakfast, but considering we were all warned that if we choose to eat on the patio we have to give the staff time to bring the food up three flights of stairs, we didn’t mind. The place gets a true gold star for their dinners. We quickly learned that Moroccans eat traditional food at home, and few restaurants offer truly traditional home-cooked meals. The only place we finally found amazing Moroccan food (having travelled through Tanger, Chefchaouen and Rabat) was here.
on aurait aimé rester plus longtemps/we wish we could have extended our stay
The staff went above and beyond. The location is great. Fantastic Riad and would highly recommend!!
Welcome, Staff (particularly Tim the Manager) Location grear but very quiet. Roof terrace great best breakfast in Morrocco. pool very welcome to cool off in. Good to have tea and coffee making facilities in room
One out of two rooms small, shower not great.
The riad was a fantastic location, so close to the main square but hidden away in peace and quiet. The staff were so amazing and kind to my sister and I. We felt so relaxed and comfortable just like we were at home. The riad is a beautiful sanctuary.
All members of staff were extremely helpful and went the extra distance to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. The room was clean and tidy, light and airy. Situated within the Medina made it the perfect location for short excursions into the souks. The evening meal on arrival was excellent, so much so we ate at the riad every other night with service provided on the roof top in the well maintained garden.
A fabulous hotel. Tim and his team ensure you are well looked after. For slightly inexperienced travellers Marrakesh can be a daunting place but Tim is there to assist you and guide you. A welcoming English guy with a fab hard working team. The hotel is located 7 minutes’ walk from the square but is nice and quiet. Really easy to find. The terrace is ideal for relaxing in the afternoons and the bedrooms are well appointed and very clean. Will defiantly be returning as the team made me feel so safe and welcomed. Marrakesh is an amazing insult on the senses and is the perfect place to get away from the daily life and routine.
Having spent hours searching online, we settled on this lovely authentic riad. Location was excellent, very clean and welcoming. We felt safe walking to and from the riad and enjoyed the banter with local sellers. Staff are all very friendly and speak good English, among other languages. We celebrated a 'special' birthday while on holiday here and the staff were amazing, decorating the roof terrace with balloons and banners (at no extra cost), providing a lovely dinner and a tasty chocolate birthday cake personalised in Arabic. Above and beyond the call of duty. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Our arrangements with the airport pick-up were a disaster, leaving us stranded on arrival at the airport at night. Not a great start to the holiday and the only negative to our stay, but we realised taxis are much cheaper than the over-priced service the transport people offer although do confirm the price before leaving the airport!
The Riad Africa is excellent. The sort if place you never want to leave. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Their knowledge of Marrakesh was very much appreciated. Will return and would recommend highly.
Nothing to dislike
The staff were exceptional. Always happy and willing to offer help and guidance. The Riad is centrally located in the Medina. Breakfast on the roof terrace is a must!
