The grand Palais Des Remparts is in the heart of the medina (historic quarter) of Essaouira, only 3 minutes from the beach. It is a stylish hotel and serves traditional Moroccan cuisine.

This was my second stay, and I still think the design of the hotel is very beautiful and enjoyable. Stunning seaviews and friendly, professional services with attention to detail.
I had requested a quiet room, but was given a room right above the bar, with associated music between 4 and 11.30 PM. The hotel wasn't full at all, so I guess no attention had been paid to this request. A real shame as I did come to relax and catch up on sleep (I only figured out what caused the sounds after my second night). The hamam is only accesible through the spa which closes at 7PM. For a spa hotel I find this very limited. The hamam could also do with a good deep cleanse...
... This place was just what the doctor ordered. Great staff, location, food and accommodation. I throughly enjoyed my stay and would really rate this place.
Perfect location AMAZING BUFFET BREAKFAST! Helpful, friendly staff Clean and comfortable hotel. Plenty of loungers and couches
Outside pool too cold for swimming Indoor spa pool, wonderfully warm for two sessions, then cooled down too much "due to technical difficulties".
Loved location, room and view. So lovely
Beautiful property, well located and great amenities. The Hammam was the best one I have ever been in. Staff very accommodating and helpful.
The bathroom fixtures needed some work...the shower had low flow and one of the handles on sink kept falling off. We were in room 265. Would've preferred a room on the opposite side as the sun was shining on those balconies late in the day but didn't ask to move either. Overall, a great stay.
sea view, position, furniture, parking
The food, the whole hotel , furnitureetc.
We had a very relaxing time
We had one of the worst experience ever in the beach side restaurant
Location was great, rooms were lovely and comfy.
Paying for wifi in a hotel in 2014 is pretty ridiculous, in my honest opinion. The hotel should really work this into their costs and offer it as a free service.
location, loungers by the pool, loungers on private beach area
the pool was not warm enough
Everything-great value for top hotel
The welcome, the layout, the decor, the pool, the patios in each room, the wooden floors, the matress. The real French croissants.
The only feather pillows, the rude pool attendant, the careless service during breakfast.
Excellent staff, good food, amazing location. Beds were very comfortable and in short, we very much enjoyed our stay in this hotel.
Beach restaurant - overpriced, bad food (I had squids which I could not even finish, and I love squids). Other guests had similar comments.
The room was large, the sun loungers were comfy and one of the reception staff was helpful when my credit card wouldn't work and she let me phone my bank in the UK. Location is good - only a short walk to the Medina and the bus stop (we came by bus from Marrakech).
I had informed the hotel that I am allergic to feathers, and yet there was feather bedding in the room when we arrived. It took a long time to get it changed, and there was no replacement for the feather mattress covers and duvets, only sheets, therefore removing all the luxury of the beds. They also left us with only one pillow each, so when we asked for another each, they brought feather ones again! None of the feather bedding was actually removed from the room, only left in the cupboard, so it still affected me. We also had an awful lunch by the pool! We'd had the same the day before and it was lovely, but the second time the food was burnt but cold, took over 30 minutes to arrive, and the chips were soggy limp potatoes. When we complained the waiter didn't seem to care. He insisted we signed the receipt, but I added a note that I was not happy to pay the full price for the meal. When we came to settle the bill at check-out, the amount was there in full, so I asked to see the receipts and they had torn off the portion with my comments! Awful service, incredibly cheeky, and the receptionist, Ayoub, was very rude and aggressive. It took a long time to eventually get part of the bill reduced. The bad food meant we chose not to eat in the hotel for dinner or breakfast. It's so overpriced, there are much better and more affordable options very nearby. There was also a terrible smell throughout parts of the hotel and outside, often when the pool pumps were turned off in the evening. In the room, 3 lights and the hairdryer didn't work. The service received in the room varied each day - we got turn-down service only once in the 3 nights, and on the last day they didn't actually make the beds, only left our bedsheets in a pile at the end of the bed. A friend stayed here in June this year and had a good time, so we had gone on the recommendation.
Location excellent opposite beach, short walk to centre.
Had enjoyed the stay until when checking out the concierge produced an empty water bottle which he claimed was from the bin in our room and we had not declared it! We had not had anything from room bar and water was from shops, having spent quite a bit to stay in the hotel if we had taken the water would have said. Not impressed and no apology from staff.
Every thing, staff, comfort, position, weather really had the best holiday.
Gorgeous pool + private beach, clean and spacious bedrooms, friendly staff, midday check-out, great location: opposite the beach plus only 5 minutes away from the Medina
only thing to mention is that breakfast is quite expensive if this is not included with your room rate. But, it is an extensive buffet. Also, the hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the Medina where there are many cheaper options
Convenient location. Clean, comfortable rooms. Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely pool and poolside amenities. Very friendly helpful staff at breakfast.
Breakfast was very expensive. Dates left in the room by 'turn down' staff in the evenings attracted ants which sometimes got onto the beds!
The staff were charming and helpful. The hotel was well appointed and clean. The restaurants were good and decent value.
The bed was a little bit lumpy (minor complaint)
As advertised, the hotel is well equipped and the pool is a lovely centre piece. The beds were large and comfortable and we slept well. A relaxing stay.
The service at the pool wasn't very good, extremely slow.
Location was VG, on the beach and easy walk to Medina. Private beach sun baking area Windows that could open for fresh air
The mattress had a very soft protector, which was like a doña, so it was very warm to sleep on it. The extra cost of $29 pp for breakfast seemed very expensive. We chose to eat outside for $3
The pool and facilities are amazing and the location is great.
Location. And very nice staff
WI-FI. Is not good
I loved the location was right opposite beach with an amazing view. the lady karima at reception gave us a warm welcome and always asked if there was anything they could do for us. Hind who works there was so sweet her smile was so walm andkind like most people in morocco we felt it was home. Ghe food was average and very small portions for a 5star hotel though but all else was top class
Prett Much everthing. I found the thing the Hotel should be most proud of is it's staff !
