Situated in one of the most quiet streets of Essaouira, Dar Assalama offers a warm and friendly welcome in a charming renovated riad.

Close to the beach, Riad Zahra proposes simplicity and comfort only 15 minutes walk from the Medina. Located in the residential district, the Zahra offers calm, relaxation and a peaceful stay.

As well as breakfast, dinner was included with menu options. I had the most delicious, unusual plate of stuffed sardines. Still thinking of them.
Clean. Good wifi. Nice roof terrace.
10 minute walk from the medina. No English spoken so not possible to get directions or recommendations. Single room was very small for €25.
Staff really friendly and helpful, helped us rent bikes one day. Lovely roof terrace with nice views
very comfortable, well designed, friendly staff
Hotel is tucked away in residential area, which is quite quiet at night. The hotel lobby is cosy with log burner and comfy sofas. My bed was really comfy and I slept there very well.
The reviews I read said that there is a sea view from the roof terrace. I climbed as high as I could go and still could not see any water ! All I could see is the sea of roof tops of the area ! There was some 10min walking to the Medina and another 10-15 min to the harbour. There are no restaurants or cafes in the area and it feels like you're not in Essaouira...there is no spirit of the city in the area of the hotel. I liked the hotel but it was a bit of a trek to the centre of Medina. Also, the hotel doors were locked at all times and you are only given a key to your room. So if you were to come back late at night you had to ring a bell and wake up the owners, who open the door for you (with forced smile). I also read in the reviews that staff speaks English but again it was lie...hardly any English at all and so our communication was very basic ! When it came to payment I was charged some city tax, which I wasn't aware of and also 10DH for cup of tea, which I shared with other hotel guests (and which they ordered and I'm sure were also charged for as well). This silly bill for tea came so unexpected and it felt so pathetic I thought I needed to mention it. There was no free hospitality and yet again I felt like a money cow, being milked by the owners of the hotel. Not for the first time in Morocco !
friendly people Enough for one night stay
The rooms were fantastic. The beds were comfortable. The terrace was a nice place to relax.
It was difficult to find. The fire that the managers built daily smoked out the house. The managers were a bit unfriendly.
Wonderful room, bed very comfortable, great terrace, free parking, walking distance from the medina.
We called to announce our arrival at 8 pm, we called again 5 min before arriving, but we had to wait 15 min before someone picked us up from the public parking, as agreed.. The staff does not speak good French or English, difficult to communicate. Breakfast with limited pancakes, bread and jam. No credit card accepted.
The service is great and very personal. You can have breakfast on the roof top in the sun. Parking is free and secure.
Fine hotel, friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Very nice atmosphere.
Loved this place! Very clean and friendly. The room was nice and spacious with a large bed and an amazing bathroom and shower.
Was a little hard to find from the bus stop, even with the map the hotel emailed.
We stayed at Tweets for 3 nights. What a warm welcome, friendly and extremely helpful (even though we couldnt speak a word of French they managed to make us feel right at home. We stayed in the Facebook room which had a private terrace which was glorious. Tweets is set in a quiet street outside the medina walls, a 5 minute walk to the medina gate. We had a very comfortable stay. Thanks:)
A very warm welcome and the hotel felt more like a riad than a hotel. Very nicely designed and the room was very cosy. The best bed we had in all Marocco. Very nice breakfast each morning too.
Nice terrace to be enjoyed during sunny days. Good location just outside medina with parking possibilities. Good breakfast. Very good wifi coverage. Excellent value for money (37€ per night with a smart deal).
No hot water the first morning. No hairdryer. No heating system even if not needed during our stay. Staff not aware that breakfast is served till noon. English/French to be improved.
- good morocan breakfast - calm and lively neighourhood - very close to supratours and medina First we booked for two nights but as we liked the place we decided to stay one more night
- the rooms are not very good isolated you can hear people talking donwstairs
+ Very clean. Nice building. + Nice for families with young children.
- No key for main door. - Very clairaudient. - Language skills very basic.
1. Simple but tasteful breakfast 2. Two Lovely hosts 3. Great terrace and bright, clean rooms
1. No door between the bed and bathroom
The hotel was cheap and clean. It was very close to the beach and medina.
No air con. No toiletries even though the website said they provided them- not even soap. Staff really struggled to understand and communicate with us. We are english and speak basic french but the staff did not seem to understand us at all or know any english which was strange as it is advertised as a french / english speaking hotel.
Anwar and family were wonderful. Very hospitable and helpful. They treated me like I was a member of the family. Very clean and modern place with unique charming features. Would definitely stay again. Thank you. Avdesh
