Villa Amaryllis is situated on a very quiet location, just a few kilometers from Essaouira. The French owner is friendly, unfortunately she hardly speaks any English.
There were just too many giant cockroaches in our room. Staff was aware and tried to eradicate them, but the strong chemicals they used left the room smelling very bad. Sleeping in certainly wasn't healthy. During our stay the owner had friends visiting the place. They behaved as if they owned the place and it made us feel uncomfortable, as if we were in someone's private environment.
The room was very clean and nice Quite place Breakfast was good
1) The swimming pool was very cold even if very clean. My child who loves swimming couldn't stay in for more than 5 minutes without trembling and he was refusing to enter it because it was freezing. 2) This location is to be considered only if you have a car. If you don't, it is very difficult to reach it with normal taxies and you have to request special ones (4x4) - more expensive - because it is offroad. Other riads/hotels near this Villa were offering the guest during the day 2 or 3 trip - for free - to Essaouira. Also consider that on the area near the Villa there is really nothing except some very small local food shops, that you can reach with 20 mins walking. 3) Almost no English is spoken by staff, except for some few basic words. 4) Generally also the dinner, dispite food was good, but simple, it is very expensive compared to other valuable restaurants. 5) It is expensive considering the location and compared with similar hotels/riad.
Nice pool, fairly private rooms, nice homely dining room.
Distance from town. The management ensures that the gardens are well watered, but there's very little actually growing. With so much effort spent on watering the ground, just a little effort to plant some ground covering plants would produce a very nice result.
Very pleasant stay with very friendly owners and staff (also for our two energetic boys) and excellent complementary breakfast (especially the Moroccan pancakes!) and optional dinner! Very relaxing after an intensive trekking in the Atlas mountains!
Having your own car available to drive to Essaouira would have been a plus.
Villa Amaryllis was paradise It really was perfection, from the delightful surroundings, the great attention paid to detail in every way. The staff and owners were quite exceptional, so friendly and thoughtful, they really made our stay so special. The breakfasts and other meals were also outstanding. We loved Villa Amaryllis so much that we returned for a further few days at the end of our trip to Morocco. We will be back shortly rest assured.
great place for relaxing holidays. the staff in the restaurant was the best we had in our whole trip in maroc. he was absolutely the friendliest waiter, thanks. the pool and the room were perfect. you need a renting car. dinner and breakfast were delicious. absolutely perfect and great stay...hopefully soon again.
our internet broke down and we had some difficulties to find it. but the managerin was very friendly and explained the way on the phone. i am a non smoker and one evening while we ate dinner the manager was around the kitchen few minutes while smoking. i don't like the smoke while eating dinner. but it was only one time.
Very special atmosphere, restaurant is pretty cosy and they know how to make you feel a VIP. :))
Location is a bit remote, no TV and no internet in the room
The setting was very pretty. Yusuf, who looked after the guests, was absolutely charming. We had dinner - fish which was bought especially for us - and it was better than the smart restaurant nearby. We're very happy to recommend Villa Amaryllis.
Beautifully designed, comfortable with lots of character and a really nice pool area. Staff excellent. Fresh orange juice!!
A beautiful villa very tastefully decorated with a lovely tranquil pool area. We loved Yousuf, the hotel manager that waited on us during our stay. His service was first class and he always greeted you with a warm smile. The food there was delicious. A hearty fresh breakfast and, if you choose, in incredible home cooked moroccon dinner. We definitively recommend this villa if you have your own transport as it's tucked away - about a 10 minute drive from the town.
Location, courtesy of the staff, beautiful garden, clean rooms, comfortable and romantic atmosphere of the restaurant at dinner time, perfect service
Two or more road signs to better find the place could have been appreciated
Very friendly and welcoming staff, always ready to help, answer questions and tell about the region, surroundings, activities etc. The food as a rule was very good value, a couple of the meals were truly excellent. Villa Amaryllis is quiet and peaceful, something we appreciated. With a car it is easy to get around, go to Essaouira, to the beaches and to the surrounding country-side.
The beds and pillows were a bit too hard for our tastes. Our teenagers in particular would have liked a bathroom door and a shower curtain, for more privacy. The location makes it advisable to take a rental car if you want to be able to get around easily.
Beautiful little villas in lovely quiet grounds. Immaculately kept, very clean. Lovely refreshing pool. Fantastic food. Friendly, polite staff. 10min drive from central Essaouira (so out of the wind a little bit!) Great haven, would highly recommend staying here.
Difficult to find if self driving. Directions: Driving from Essaouira towards Ghazoua, drive past the hotel Damonte (on your left) until you reach a cluster of shops on your left. One of these is called "Tajine Café". Just short of these, turn right off the main road onto a gravel track. This track forks immediately-take the right. Drive for ~1.6km and Villa Amaryllis is a white walled complex on your left.
The food was excellent, with service to match. The facilities were clean and very comfortable.
Would like a play structure or some other entertainment for the kids.
Very friendly staff, they will make you feel at home.
No door between bedroom and bathroom.. (!)
Wonderful, friendly staff. Everyone was so kind to us when we arrived, tired and unwell. They did everything to make me feel better. It is a lovely place with great food and a very nice atmosphere.
We found it a little difficult to find, a sign on tarmac road would have been great.
Staff and general ambiance Breakfast Pool and table tennis Superbly clean with bed linen changed often Evening meals were generally really nice (but not to our teenagers taste)
Rooms not well sound-proofed: our neighbours got up at 05:30 to leave and could hear everything. No doors on bathrooms but this seems fairly normal in Morocco Bit isolated, but all these outweighed by positives
