French owner Paula and her wonderful female staff create a serene and happy atmosphere in this charming traditional villa with its light airy rooms (recently refurbished), lovely tiled fountain and pretty pool area. The home cooked food is good too and excellent value. Situated in a relatively quiet, treelined suburb to the north of the city, the modern centre of Guéliz is easily reached by a pleasant 15 min walk off the main road or a short inexpensive taxi ride to the ancient Medina. Local buses are also fun and very cheap. A well kept secret which we return to again and again. Highly recommended for those who like a peaceful location after the hustle and bustle of a day in Marrakech.
Quiet location away from hustle. Interesting house with traditional decor.
Rather difficult to find. Had own car so had to negotiate traffic! When phoning for directions was told to hail a taxi and then follow it! Dinner was uninteresting and not very satisfying. Breakfast light also.
Pool and Riad Staff in office very helpful but not always there
No wi-fi connection in the room
Villa Amira is a very nice hotel. It is like an oasis in the lively city Marrakesh and we felt very comfortable there. The staff is very friendly and the owner of the hotel, Paola, helped us with organising taxi, made reservation for a dinner and gave us great tipps (places to see, restaurants etc). I very recommend this hotel
pool area and beds around pool.
breakfast was a bit simple. expected more. also, didn't like being told we couldn't pay on our card, despite it saying we can on our booking form. I was told we would normally be able to pay with the card, but the connection to the bank system was down. i didn't believe that for a second, as reviews seem to suggest people are always asked to pay cash. As a foreigner, we have to pay charges on our cash withdrawals, and you cannot draw much out at one time, so have to make numerous withdrawals to get enough cash out(ie extra bank charges).
Very quiet and pleasant villa. The swimming pool is nice. A little bit far from Medina. But I used a bus to get there (No 1, 13, 15) – 5 min, 20-30min by foot. In one review someone said that you can get the equivalent of 200 Euros out at a cash point, – that is not correct. You can get as min as equivalent of 10 Euros at any cash machine. And one of the cash machine is just around the corner from the villa. You can order a light lunch in the hotel. Not very expensive – 10-18 Euros.
Wi-Fi didn't work in the room, but was ok in the rest of the villa. The breakfast was rather very light. They offered tea or coffee, bread, butter, yogurt, jam, juice and fruits. It would be good to add some cheese, sausage/meat, eggs, ect. I booked this hotel because I thought it was close to Medina. I put the hotel address in the Google map and it showed me the wrong location. Keep this in mind. However the location in Booking.com is correct. Staff speak a little English except the owner.
Nice sunbathing terrace Very quiet and peaceful, despite being a few minutes from the bustle of the Medina Pool is small but actually very nice -- gets sun for several hours during the middle of the day Beer and wine for 2.50 euros
Wifi didn't work in our rooms, online in the common areas Shower / bathroom wasn't great but certainly adequate
Beautifully decorated and quiet. Rather far from the Medina. The credit card machine did not work and they wanted payment in cash. You can only take the equivalent of 200 Euros out at a cash point so this caused a lot of stress. Eventually it worked but the owner appeared to have no idea what a difficult position this put us in. Also our bill was just hand written out by one of the staff and so the formal side of our stay was stressful.
The massage was class!
We originally booked that Riad, but were put in the Riad of the Owner's sister, th Riad Amira in the south of the Medina. The price for that was somehow expensive, maybe overpriced, but the staff was more than friendly, the location is very quiet, even if the Riad's rooms are not insulated at all and you can hear every whisper in the Riad. There's W-LAN, you can get alcohol and they have an own taxi driver. Breakfast is plenty. Overall we liked it very much, aside from the price.
