This is our second stay. Enjoy the location and friendliness of the staff. Food is nice. Gifts (fresh herbs) when leaving.
The room was across from main hotel so no wi-fi. Felt slightly pressured to go on boat trip, eat at hotel etc. Neither a real problem tho
The staff is always up to help you. This might be too much attention for some.
Very friendly staff, wonderful boat tour on the lake, nice and confy room, close to bus stop (avoid train station if you're on foot, it's too far from the village, you have to walk along the rail tracks and the highway), nice restaurant.
Some items at the breakfast buffet were cold (eggs and saussages) According to the description on booking.com they don't accept credit cards, just cash, thankfully there's an ATM on the spot
> quirky, family run atmosphere > great restaurant with good food > free WI-FI > free parking available on the street outside > really good breakfast buffet > To counter the 'negative': the fresh herb "present from Pelican" was actually a great car freshener - far better than a chemical one!
> Not really a negative point but be wary of the owner's desire for selling you the now infamous boat trips that others have mentioned. After a couple of firm but polite refusals he'll get the message! But good on the guy for trying: he's got a living to make so who wouldn't 'up-sell' in his position? The lake is beautiful and looks well worth the boat trip if you have the time & the weather is good (we didn't have either unfortunately) > Once again not really a negative point but just to flag up: the owner's elderly father is somewhat eccentric and will tour the restaurant giving "presents from the Pelican" which comprise fresh herbs, an envelope & Pelican themed stamp(!) at both evening and breakfast. You'll also find him in the street flagging down cars to give them a flyer on The Pelican. A nice chap - if a little mad - who won't remember how many presents he's actually given you!
Staff were helpful, our booking got somewhat confused but they tried their best to sort it out for us, and gave us free breakfast as a bonus. The hotel owner is quite old and gives out bunches of fragrant herbs to the guests every morning! A nice touch. We also took the hotel's boat tour of the lake, which made up for something else cancelled due to bad weather.
The Hotel is really nice, it's at the directly located at the lake.
The Hotelmanager will try to sell you a boat tour, but it's actually a bad offer, the tour is nice but you do not have to pay More than 10 euros for it! We paid 25 for the tour, the Hotel Manager offered!
Virpazar is a good base. Breakfast was good especially when a buffet was offered. Good air con and comfy bed and handy to have a fridge.
Slightly cramped and shabby room with view of unused land would have been acceptable bearing in mind that tourism is still being developed but at a lower price. We had paid less money for better accommodation in more touristy parts of Montenegro. The owner is a bit pushy with his boat tour but if you can handle a daily gentle brush off he is a friendly chap.
The young girl at reception was very friendly and helpful. Location in the town by the lake was good for exploring.
Owner was pushy and flagging down cars as they drove in off the highway (seemed desperate). Room was filthy and small, bed not comfortable. Had to change rooms because first one had no wifi signal. Rooms smelled like toilets or sewer. Old fashioned furniture. Bed cover was moldy. Absolutely do not recommend this hotel. There are a few other options in the town. Better off sleeping in ur car!
The hotel is very near the lake, which is fantastic. There are a selection of restaurants nearby and it's on the main Virpazar square. The staff are nice and rooms small but comfortable.
The hotel was the first in the area (founded 1960) and is well established. But you get the sense that it could modernise a bit more. The man shouting at cars on the road doesn't help, the pushy approach to boat tours is off putting and the wifi is a little sporadic.
Expensive compared to the quality of the hotel. Wi-Fi connection was poor. Breakfast was not good.
Virpazar is tiny so accommodation choices are limited but it's perfectly positioned next to Skadar Lake
If you're not accustomed to it, the hard-sell tactics of the owner for his boat trip can be off putting. He started before we'd even been shown our room!
Very friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast inc hot and cold selection, all for 3 euros each. Lovely clean room overlooking the square.
Maybe few more tv channels but not that much of an issue for short stay. Terrace for restaurant overlooks main road.
Great value for money. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, the food very nice and the surroundings beautiful.
Only annoying aspect was the constant hard selling strategy of the owner re local trips, restaurant etc - really left a bad taste in our mouths.
People were lovely. Good was good and clearly locally sourced. Fun boat trip offered.
Though good the in house food was a little expensive.
