We deliberately chose a location to get away from work, crowds, civilisation etc. and this is exactly what Domaine de Lokobe represents. The wooden lodges are found within a very scenic idyllic island beachside setting with very calm sea and coral at the beachside. The hotel management and staff were very welcoming, the food was extremely plentiful (lots of courses every meal time) and the pool and sea was always warm. Whilst we stayed here when it was at full capacity (only 34 people) we still felt very separated and able to relax in the open and peaceful location with no disturbances. Electricity in the countryside of Madagascar is generator driven and so is often turned-off at night-time. It was hotter than we were expecting at the beginning of April and we found the lack of ventilation and a too hot night difficult. But you can swim at 4am in the sea!!

The location is beautiful and the staff are fantastic. The hotel caters for Italian package tours. The excursions are really expensive. Its much cheaper to walk down the beach and negotiate with the locals for a boat.
