Score from 283 reviews Very good
Rooms Decor Reception and concierge staff Excellent large pool
Food and drinks could be of a higher standard for the price. The restaurant ran out of all steak and most of the white wine one night which I found quite unbelievable for a 5 star hotel. Food at breakfast also needs improving - selection is OK but when compared to the Sule Shangri La I have to say the quality is not as good. Other than the food needing to be improved, this is a lovely hotel.
The Club Lounge facilities and staff - excellent!
The Spa - they do not know what Reflexology is - wasted 1 hour. Another worse experience - a masseur there tried to rip us off an extra USD50 in cash- we did not pay as the manager there intervened. We are never going back to that Spa again!
Chatrium Hotel I believe in Fair and Honest review and that is what you will hear from me today. I will do this because if you are going to travel to an unknown location, your "home" may make or break your experience, and if you're going to spend the money, time, and effort in reading reviews and booking your stay; then the review should be fair and honest. The Chatruim Hotel may have one of the VERY BEST views in all of Yangon and an equally as impressive pool. Unfortunately, much like any place in Yangon, you are going to have to spend a good bit of cash to get that view. The hotel itself looks like a 1990s version of an expensive hotel. The rooms smell like mildew and the bathroom walls look like they could use a makeover. The beds are very comfortable and the sheets are top notch, but you should expect that from the price. The breakfast is incredible for Yangon standards, with so many options to choose from you will find something that suits your taste buds. You will have a choice between Asian, Indian, Wester, and more. Lunch and dinner will set you back uncomfortably as typical meals are around 20USD. Across the street is an incredible authentic Thai Restaurant with fantastic prices. Also nearby is a fun Hot Pot Restaurant called SK Hot Pot. The pool is fantastic and they have a gym in the same location and it has more than enough for you to get a good workout including very good treadmills and a smith machine. They were kind enough to let me stay the following day as my flight wasn't leaving until midnight, so I spent the entire afternoon around the pool and fitness center. The staff is exceedingly kind and friendly, as expected. My only true complaint about the hotel is the cost and the smell of the bedroom. This is a 4 star hotel with 5 star prices. If you don't care about money, then stay at the Chatrium. If you want to get the most value out of your money, then I would recommend staying at The Loft.
Wifi was not free after your 1100 checkout. Food was expensive. Bathroom looked old. Smell in the rooms.
It was a wonderful experience. Great rooms, very helpful and courteous staff, and nice location.
Excellent choice of restaurants Food excellent Nice bedroom (got upgraded to suite) Good quality all the way round Location good unless you want to be in noisy central city Room price very reasonable
Pricy food by Myanmar standards
Too noisy from the neighbor. The rooms are needed to be update. The TV position in the room is very inconvenient to watch.
VERY ATTENTIVE STAFF FROM BELL BOY TO RESTAURANT WAITER/WAITRESS, FRONT DESK TO CONCIERGE, ALL OF THEM ARE VERY HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE. BUFFET BREAKFAST IS VERY GOOD. ROOM IS VERY CLEAN AND THE AMENITIES IN THE HOTEL ARE VERY ADEQUATE.
THE BED - NOT COMFY WITH UN-EVEN SURFACE. I HAD TO SLEEP ON THE EDGE. BACKACHE AFTER SLEEPING FOR 3 NIGHTS. FRUITS WERE NOT DELIVER TO OUR ROOM AS PROMISE EXCEPT FOR THE 1ST DAY.
Considering the price of this hotel, I was expecting a lot more. My room looked out onto a loud construction site that operated from before 9am until after 6pm (despite the hotel's reassurances that these were thetimes between which it would operate). The constuction won't be done until April 2015. Pool is nice and gym ok, but service is atrociously slow and my request to move rooms was ignored.
Room with good views (Lake or pool) and High speed Wi-Fi and it’s free. Hotel got a very beautiful swimming pool and a good SPA.. Good restaurant with outdoors seating and great breakfast choices. This hotel got a bar sill 1.30 am, where all other places around Yangon is closed by 11pm.
Room with good views (Lake or pool) need an extra pay.
Position Executive lounge Breakfast outside
No complimentary shuttle to and from airport.....extortionate cost.
Good breakfast , the swimming pool, helpful staff...
The build work outside window created noise
The staff was lovely - offered us two different room types as we wanted a quiet room and the type we had booked was overlooking the pool area, so they upgraded us to a suite for the same price in order to accomodate that request. We lost the lake view, but loved the room. The hotel has different restaurants to choose from - we went to the Japanese restaurant twice and the food rivalled what we had in Japan. We also had a long stop over a week later, and they let us store a bag there, and we used their facilities on the stop over which was very convenient.
The hotel is just a little far out - you can't really walk anywhere and there are no good restaurants nearby. (Don't even try the ones at the lake!!). Saying that, taxis are cheap - it just becomes a bit more stressful as not a single taxi driver ever actually found the place they were supposed to take us (despite confirming upon departure that they did) so there will inevitably be some walking involved!
GOOD ROOM WITH A VIEW. VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY STAFF. GOOD LOCATION. VERY HELPFUL CONCIERGE.
All the hotel staff is very friendly, helpful... I got a beautiful suite overlooking the pagoda from the balcony and over another window view of the lake and pool. Very good and breakfast. Bed extremely comfortable.
I do not have anything bad to say about this hotel. Price could be a little lower, but this is a five star hotel.
Everything. We were there for 4 nights. Our grown kids had drinks at the bar but we didn't have time for the lovely swimming pool as we were too busy with our itinerary. The breakfast was very good too. We also had dinner at the chinese restaurant one night. Beautiful decor and the food was delocious and beautifully present. All the staff were absolutely lovely; always friendly and helpful. Definitely will stay there if we come back.
A very small thing. When you arrive at breakfast and sit down at your chosen table, no one comes up to ask if you want coffee or tea. I love my cup of tea but couldn't wait for the staff to come up and went up to the table to pour a cup of tea for me and my husband. The staff are there straight away and offer bring to us straight away.
Staff dedication Beautiful view of lake and pool from some rooms Lovely cafe terrace Fitness center Free shuttle to major sites
WiFi quality Noisy receptions in garden 3 of 4 nights Cost of airport transfer to hotel, take taxi for $10 instead of $60 for 3.
Staff spoke English and arranged taxi Good gym and nice staff.
WiFi was very weak, not good for business travelers who need wifi. Very expensive hotel.
Good location and facilities.
Service standards do not meet those required for a hotel of this standard and price. Staff very pleasant but not attentive or providing international standards.
location & view, balcony, breakfast (variety & quality), friendliness of the staff, room (space, facilities & cleanliness), safety
many items in the menu at the sunset terrace were not available & what we ordered in the end was just ok, not as expected in a hotel of this category; service at that same terrace was very much dependent on the individual: from excellent to simply poor/uninterested; room was not available yet at time of checkin (2pm), had to change room the next day
The staff were very helpful. Rooms were comfortable, quiet. Wifi was fast with no connection issues. Good value for money
Staff were friendly and welcoming. The view of the Shwedagon Pagoda.
Incredibly expensive by international comparison.
Great pool , big room
I like the privacy of the hotel
Good location opposite the Kandawggi Lake which makes an ideal morning or evening walk or jog, with a wooden boardwalk around about half the lake. Views over the lake of Shwedagon pagoda amazing if you are given a room on that side.
Big downside is the fact that every weekend and holidays there are big and noisy wedding receptions that effectively take over the pool area from midday. Management does not seem to have much control over what the wedding organisers do, allowing extremely noisy pop music to be 'tested' during the afternoon.
Highly trained staff at ALL levels. This is crucial for a hotel; I was V.P.-HR for 5 years with ITC ltd, India which has strong links with Starwood [Sheraton] so hopefully my views will count! Excellence in professional hoteliering. Smiling, courteous, helpful staff in all departments. Some names we recall with happy memories: Leo, Stephen, Thida, Mary Valentine, Kay & of course Ms. May Myat Mon Win the General Manager. The shop: Aye Aye Chen, Ma Hnin Yu Hlaing. All other staff in F&B outlets, Room Service, House Keeping, Bell Boys...I don't know their names but they deserve our sincere appreciation also. The 'Headline' above says it all.
Nothing at all. I heard some views of the loud music on 31st December night. I ACTUALLY ENJOYED IT!! The challenge to the hotel will be 2 fold: a] Maintain the current standards. b] Raise the bar of excellence.
