Beautiful building - well-kept yet with the air of a bygone era. Friendly, unobstrusive staff.

No mercy from management when stay had to be cut short by one day.

If you book by booking.com, you may arrive to the hotel and found they have no record of your reservation, apparently, booking.com send a fax to reserve the room, but it is Burma and fax are not working 100%, it happens to us, booking.com should really following up by a phone call.

Magnificent building, built in 1901 and many famous people have stayed there. Fabulous room/suite with lovely big bed. Fine dining restaurant is a must. The chef is from Oz - Chris Parsons I think he was called and we had one of our best ever meals in there. Recommend the carpaccio with white truffle snow and the black truffle risotto! Great service too.

For a top class hotel which alleges to have internet, it is absolutely useless. Impossible to work and the business centre has just one computer for the whole hotel! The bath water ran brown initially and remained discoloured throughout our stay. No fresh orange juice. No tea/coffee facility in room. No plug near a mirror or light to do ones hair. Welcomed with bottle of white wine which we cant drink but disappointingly was not offered an alternative. Didn't like the local bottled water but Evian is available.

Impeccable service, amazing location and one of the most interesting buildings in town.

The Strand is at the top end of hotels in Burma, its quite expensive and does not have a pool, the breakfast was excellent, however the evening meals were very disappointing and we had to send one of our courses back.

The food in the evening was not good, and it did not have a swimming pool given the heat. We also found the prices of the spa were beyond belief. I think you can get better value in Yangoon for half the price.

It is an Iconic Hotel with all suites. The staff were kind and gracious. The service was impeccable.Took us back to the 1940'S.

Old style luxury hotel. Great stuff.

We had a room with a connecting door to other room. Noises and cigarette smell from the other room came to our room. A bit overpriced hotel. Wi-Fi worked occassionally. 6% extra when you pay with credit card.

The Strand is a colonial landmark. No better place to travel back in time. Wonderful place, despite the high pricetag.

The rooms were really comfortable and the showers were a real god-send as it was the middle of the hot and dry season. We loved the high ceilings and the bathrooms too. We appreciate the little cakes they gave when we came in the evening to turn down the room.

The food in the restaurant and cafe were very disappointing even if the service was good. While The Strand must have been in the middle of things even a few years ago before the government offices moved out of Yangon, the area is now very quiet and somewhat inconvenient for visiting the markets and shops.

If you are going to Yangon, and want to experience the history and be close to the centre, and want to see something of the colonial history, this is the place to stay. We have stayed in some pretty nice hotels, but this hotel, was the most enjoyable, the most comforting and amongst the most beautiful we have ever stayed. The staff were so superior and nice compared to anywhere else we have stayed. The room was comfortable, large, airy, spacious, luxourious. The bath at the end of a hot day, sublime. I would love to stay there again!!! On our return to Yangon 20 days later we came with friends to High Tea, which was another decandant experience, and the fact the staff remembered me, speaks volumes!!!!

That I had to depart!!!

Friday night happy hour was fantastic. Along with well priced drinks and complimentary snacks, it had a great vibe with lots of interesting people to talk to from all over the world. We chose The Strand due to location and were not disappointed. It has old world charm in a country which is still relatively untouched or overrun with tourism. Highly recommended and if coming back to Yangon, would definitely stay here again.

It is an old hotel in old british colonial style. Very impressive.

The price is too expensive fro Myanmar. Even for New York or Paris it could be expensive as well.

強いて言えば、価格がもう少し安いと良い。

Man geht auf eine Zeitreise, hat aber den Luxus von heute. Alles ist sehr geräumig, in der Halle kann man gemütlich seine Zigarre rauchen. Freitag ist die Bar voll mit Botschaftspersonal - auch ganz nett, aber voll weil halber Preis.

Essen im Hotel schwer überteuert. Bar ist ok. Wenn man nicht Hotelgast ist machen sie Zicken mit der Kreditkarte.

I loved it, very nice, would recommend it highly to everyone. Bit pricey, but you have to pay for quality!

I hated having to pay the 6% tax for using my credit card to pay the hotel room bill. I wish bookings.com had mentioned this to me so i would have taken some extra cash with me. 6% is too much to just 'throw away' and i feel somewhat 'cheated' by your site.

All the staff were only too pleased to help with any problem and were very friendly to the baby. Lovely large rooms and very comfortable.

Quite a long way for the use of the swimming pool and had to pay for the taxi to get there. Food was very expensive for a child.

It is a very nice old hotel and really great place to stay

Man hätte sich gewünscht, dass das Türpersonal die Gäste bei absurdem Verlangen der Taxifahre unterstütz. Stattdessen hatte man das Gefühl, ein Teil des überhöhten Preises geht an genau an diesen.

老舗の高級ホテルと聞きましたが、まさにその通りでした。部屋数は32室くらいで、スタッフは、大変親切で- す。サービスが行き届いている感じです。また、部屋もすばらしく、広々としていて天井が高く、おいてある調- 度品もセンスが良く、本物のアンティークでした。床や扉はチーク材でできており、素晴らしかったです。 娘が体調をこわしたので、チェックアウトは１２時予定でしたが１７時までその部屋を使わせてもらいました。- その部屋の予約があったのもかかわらず都合をつけてくれたのです。また、追加料金の請求もありませんでした- 。本当に親切なホテルです。
