I really appreciate a place that is away from the rushing crowds. This was the Riviera's main attraction for me. Its very quiet and our "ocean view" room was fine for visual aesthetics. The staff was very accomodating; top rated for me. I was not looking to spend a lot of money for my two night stay in Macau, and I don't gamble, so the Riviera was just fine for my needs. There was nothing distinctive about the hotel -- I did not see anything in question number 2 that jumped out at me. The furniture needs to be upgraded soon -- very beat up . The mattress had a little moldy smell; but I'm have a good sense of smell and my wife could not smell it -- still, it should have been sealed up better. I only ate in the Amigo for the buffet breakfast. This was only fair -- fruits were under represented and so were the egg dishes. The place is rated as a five star in some of the guides. I think that is overly generous. I would rate it a four star.

Very nice hotel, but on the outskirts of the town proper. However the hotel provides a free shuttle that drops you off at different places in the city and at the ferry terminal and the shuttle runs all day long, so the fact that the hotel is away from all the bustle and noise is actually a positive thing. Nice staff and pleasant appearance of the lobby and breakfast area. Our room was a bit worn but certainly decent. A good value. Only negative was the room was a bit 'worn' and the hotel was a bit far from the main area of the city. But well worth a stay.

Centrally located, so we could walk to the Macau peninsula casinos and the Tower. Beds are smaller than they look and very hard. Very noisy in the mornings- lots of Chinese yelling going on. English level is rather low.

The food was good and the shuttle bus service is useful. The service was really poor. None of the staff we encountered was remotely customer service orientated,eg, I had to practically beg to get a cup and saucer to take to my room. The room service meals we ordered arrived in stages, forcing us to eat separately.

Good location away form the casino's and within walking distance of the old city centre. Nice view of the Macau Tower and sea. Shuttle bus service to the ferry terminal. Staff's English was very poor. They did not seem to listen to what we asked, giving answers that were incorrect or just not regarding the topic of our question. We asked when we arrived if we ould have breakfast the next day and the receptionist told us that we could just walk into the breakfast room and tell the staff there our room number, so it would be charged to the room. The price was said to be 45 hkd. The next morning, we had to explain to 4 different people that we were hotel guests and therefore we did not nees a breakfast coupon as we would pay for breakfast with our hotel bill. Also, the price for breakfast turned out to be 75 hkd. When we could finally sit down for breakfast, immediately a bill of 150 hkd was placed on our table, making us have to explain everything again. There seems to be insufficient communication between the hotel reception staff and the breakfast restaurant staff.

Overall, the hotel is comfortable and the room is clean. I think the travellers are not in room most of the time, and the free service bus is half an hour per trip, most of the time , we need to made call for taxi to town, and if the hotel rate can lower further , the better and attractive.

As the hotel was located on a hillside and was free from gaming and other entertainment venues the conditions of the surroundings were quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Although out of the town centre and hotel stretch it had easy access to downtown restaurants and shopping etc. I The front desk staff seemed to be a bit raw and inexperienced while handling check-outs and settlement of bills possibly being just out from hospitality training schools. It would also have been ideal if they were equipped with a nice and quiet spa to relax and unwind in

Good position, minutes walk into the old town; Nice sea views though need to climb a hill to the hotel but free shuttle bus is provided to town and back so not a problem if you don,t like walking up hills. A lot of services (eg pool) were advertised as closed, but be aware the wifi can be unavailable and the self-service drink machines have a mind of their own. First night was charged holiday rate and was not worth it. Second night was half that price and that is a more reasonable price for what you get.

Spacious Room 1. All-pervading smell of cigarette smoke. The Sintra & Pousada de Mong Ha for example have smoke free rooms. 2. Internet is extra - you have to buy cards from Reception.. When I am in & out of my room at all-hours that was annoying and inconvenient. Again, the Sintra & Pousada include internet access in the room rate.
