I upgraded to a one bedroom apartment at the bayview with a balcony and sea view. The hotel and apartments are well located facing the sea and yachts and boats so every morning and evening we had great views. There is also a 2 mile beautiful promenade a long the sea shore right in front of the hotel/aptm. The bus stop is literly outside the front door with a regular bus service. It only cost 47 cent to get to Valletta (capital). The buses are well knackered, but did the job. We found a gem of a restaurant nearby called Maneri's. Lots of high street stores - next, bhs, debenhams, m&s etc.

Loved the location, fantastic views on the harbour .Close to Valetta, take the ferry across in 5 minutes for 1 euro.We were upgraded to a penthouse apartment with a see view for free, shops and restaurants all around.Malta's new bus system is perfect.Bus stop in front of the hotel brings you everywhere on the island, a day ticket cost only 2.60 euro. Close to all the departures of the tourist boats and buses also to Cozo. Staff at the hotel very friendly and helpful.Loved it!

Nice view on top of Bayview hotel over Sliema and Valletta and the bay area. Walking distance to many shops/cafe/restaurants and 5 min boat to Valletta center. The apartments up the hills (room 7905) are brand new (aug. 2011) and very nice and relatively quiet at night (opposite on The Strand). Bayview have many anexes in the city area, and they will not tell the adresses of them via mail. Only the hotel and some anexes 5 min walking. No seaview (as sold) in room 7905. No free WiFi (only at McDonalds and a few others down the street). The noice from neighbour chairs moving, dogs, hens, cats etc. early in the mornings. But then again, it's city center and you can use earplugs.

Very nice staff.Very good location. It is not 5-star hotel but very clean.Hotel bar is very useful as alcohol is not available in Malta from 9 p.m. To pay some extra pennies for Frontal Sea View room is a must! Only one tiny lift which was very slow.

Location Housekeeping was very poor, almost non-existent. Reservations can be deliberately dishonest about what you are actually getting - asked several times for clarification and the reservationist lied (in writing!). Rooms are very basic but you get what you pay for - this is no excuse for lazy housekeeping however.

The hotel was in a good location, the hotel staff was helpful and kind. The room we got was in accordance with the description on the site. I think a 3-star hotel - mostly at a seaside - should have a hair-dryer in the bathroom, not only for a 10-euro deposit (mostly as we were individual guests with our C.C. nr in the sytem so even if I steal it - which would make no sense as it was huge with a british plug no use in continental Europe- they can charge me then). We also had problem with the air-conditioning but that was fixed by the next day. Bed and pillow is not comfortable.

The view from the seaview bedrooms. It was spectacular. The bathroom was extremely strange. You had to squeeze through a small gap between bath partition and wall. Very dangerous for young and old. A rediculous setup. No hairdryer in the room had to leave deposit and hope one was available. Safe you had to pay for. Even small hotels have hairdryers and safes in their rooms free of charge. A money making exercise by the hotel

A good location, near to shops, seafront and restaurants. Glorious weather. Although the apartment has everything you would need for basic self catering, it was very drab. The shower was tiny, any bigger that a size 12 and you wouldn't get in it. The balcony was tiny and overlooked a dumping ground for builders rubbish, scaffolding, a bath etc. Was very overgrown and had become a cats paradise.

Good location, cheap price, free upgrade! Very dirty room. Wasnt cleaned when I got there. Advised to come back an hour later even though it was past check in time. Even after the room was 'cleaned', it was very dirty.

Location straight across from one of the harbours Full of teenagers of various nationalities, pushing and shoving you out of the way in the dining room, at the bus stops outside. Also on the afternoon we arrived we went straight onto the roof to have a swim; lucky we did because in 20 mins the place was heaving with teenagers who just filled the pool, (we counted 23 at one time), standing in the pool drinking lager out of glass bottles. All rules written up by the hotel are completely ignored eg only 18 in the pool at any one time/no smoking etc. Didn't make for a very relaxing 5 days, were glad to go out each day.Breakfast not up to much in the way of food, had to queue for a seat.

Horrified that a modern hotel charged so much for wifi when even the smallest hotels have free wifi. The charges were ridiculously high.

Our rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Location is good with lots of places to eat, and no late night noise. Bus stop is outside the hotel for Golden Bay and other places, boats to Valletta are 5 minutes walk. Breakfast and dinner buffets were ok and cheaper than eating out. No kettle or coffee in the rooms!

Our apartment was moist and smelled bad, it was located in a very desolate area. The room cleaning was superficial, there were stains on the sheets, on the pillows and on the covers. In the floor of the bathroom there was a hole for the passage of water of the drainage. One morning someone entered our apartment while we were sleeping

The check in process took more than 30 minutes which is TOTALLY unusual for a hotel standard. The staff who were manning the counter didn't know how to manage it. It was chaos all the way. The apartment that I booked apparently located in different building. Instead of giving direction to find the place, I was asked to wait for another staff to bring me to the apartment. The waiting time took another 15 minutes. They hotel could have just given me a direction of where to go to. Anyway, the staff who took me to the apartment didn't have an access code to the building (which I was not given one either), so he had to wait for another colleague to arrive to give him the access code to the security system. All in all, I have to say this particular hotel needs to learn a lot about hotel management and customer service.

It was a great price and location, our apartment was v comfortable with a lovely sea view. (It's worth paying a bit extra for this!) The pool on the roof was clean and the staff were nice and helpful. It's not luxury but if you're looking for cheap comfortable accommodation in Sliema/Gzira this is a good option.

Nice location I Sliema/Gzira, beautiful view from the top of the hotelbuildning were the pool is situated. The 2-bedroom-apartments are spacious and perfect for a group of friends or a family. However the balconies are really small, don't expect to have any meals there. The staff was not serviceminded at all. Grumpy faces and no interest in giving thier guests that "little extra". The apartment-floors were really dirty, I don't think they scrubed the floor at all while we stayed there for almost a week.

Helpful staff and good location of the main hotel on the frontage road. Apartments tucked away in nearby side roads (appeared to be at least a couple of separate buildings). Rooftop pool on main hotel with excellent views. Although staying in an apartment this was still cleaned daily. Whilst the location of the apartment was generally quiet, a small taxi business appeared to operate from an opposite garage - which could be a bit noisy. The kitchen was generally well equipped - but a drying towel or cleaning cloth would have been useful - only minor issues.

We were three adults staying in a two br apt with a fantastic sea view on the 7th floor. The apt was very spacious and comfortable. Location was terrific with public bus stop/ferries just meters away. The staff were all very helpful with any queries and/or problems that arose during our stay. The two young ladies at reception were especially helpful and welcoming. The traffic was noisy, but this was expected as we were right on The Strand.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the spacious apartment and had a relaxing weekend. From the balcony we had a nice view of the Sliema city and in a five-minute walk we could reach the main road. We already miss our stay there!

It was in a very central area, for most things, shops, buses and water cruises, The pool area seemed a bit run down.It would have been nice to have a nice bar and chairs there to watch the stars and people strolling along the street.

I booked a luxury two bed apartment with sea view, and when we got there at no extra cost we were upgraded to the penthouse apartment, which consisted of a lift that opened up into the apartment, 3 double bedrooms a kitchen, a large flat screen two bathrooms, a lounge and a dining area with a massive terrace that overlooked the sea!!! What more could you ask for this was a fantastic apartment and luxurious!! A massive thankyou to the staff who throughout our stay were courteous, friendly and spoke fantastic english, we got left alone as we knew Malta so was not pushed into dining inhouse, but when we wanted a taxi there very own drivers took us to our locations for set prices!!Fantastic. The one and only qualm is that it isent walking distance to st julians were the nightlife is as previously thought, but that was no worry as we really got value for money!!

The fact that I got them to ring "booking com" to obtain a refund. Somehow I was double booked at the hotel. Perhaps greater clarity/ease when using your web site should be considered. Anyway the mistake/error was accepted and I got my refund. Thanks. The hotel is split in three parts, main hotel and two separate blocks of apartments. The apartment blocks are away from the seafront down back streets. We were therefore more or less pushed into self catering vacation.

This hotel is the worst hotel in the world. The hotel’s staff is very arrogant. According to their web site, guests can use internet in their room, but the fact is that I could not use it at all even though I booked it beforehand. Also I could not use a hair-dryer because they had all been lent out even though I asked for one in advance. The staff never said “ I am sorry” I believe that they do not know the word “ I am sorry”. In addition I found a cockroach in my room! However, I did not want to talk with the arrogant staff any more, so I did not tell them about it.

“We really enjoyed our stay at The Carlton and will be back. It is in close proximity to all amenities, with a bus stop close by. There are pubs and restaurants all around and paceville is not too far away. Breakfast was fine with a varied selection. Shower was good with a good flow, and there were fresh towels ,toilet rolls and soap replenished daily. The view from our seaview room was spectacular as were the views from the breakfast room. Lovely staff completed our enjoyment of this hotel. Thankyou Carlton.” Grace, Glasgow |
