Good central Location in Sliema, convenient for local bus. Had it's own swimming pool and sun deck. Entrance lobby was architecturally splendid. Rooms were rather bland, and suffered from traffic noise at front of Hotel. Breakfast menu was repetitive and generally unappetizing. Some staff were quite unhelpful and not very welcoming. Beds had no under blanket, i.e. bottom sheet immediately on mattress, which is not hygenic! |

It is a lovely building, with a nice garden and helpful, friendly staff. It is well situated for buses to most points in Malta. Its faded gentility - it could be made into a more light and airy place, and could be a really stunning hotel |

Cleanliness, quiet, good location. Good discount presumably for late booking. I would not have wished to pay the full price in hindsight. The breakfast was the worst I ever had. I would have preferred to pay for something edible instead of having poor quality food for free. Cold bake beans, 3 types of "spam", cold hard boiled eggs only, no fresh juice - just squash, etc. |

Room was clean and tidy, spacious, and quiet so had a good nights sleep. Shower was off the bath, maybe an electric shower would be better but it worked ok. Breakfast was cereal, toast, assorted meats, scrambled egg, tomato. It was quite nice and the staff in the restaurant were friendly. Certain reception staff were not that knowledgeable about local events and some were not that friendly. Also hotel was mainly geared/marketed toward an older clientelle. |

The staff were all helpful and frendly although the front desk were less so. The hotel looks tired and needs updating. Its location at the top of a quite steep hill means that the elderly residents (I am elderly) had quite a climb up from the sea front and shops, or had to wait for the one bus that served the hotel. So I cannot recommend for older people. Unfortunately, it seems, older peole are attracted to the hotel. Dinners were satisfactory but breakfast choice poor. |

great location, near the bus routes and harbor. beautiful lobby with lots of sitting areas. great pool. rooms were very basic and well-aged. two mornings in a row we returned from breakfast to find all our towels gone. when i requested a towel from the cleaning staff, they were not pleased but eventually gave me one. |

not much its location and the state of the rooms - in need of some serious updating and definitely not worth the three stars status |

The room was large light and airy with effective aircon, comfortable beds and everything clean. We may have had the best room in the hotel however since we were on the top floor with views over the pool and out across to Valetta. The food was truly diabolical. Really there is no excuse for it at all. Poor selection, poor quality, poorly prepared and poorly presented. The rest of the service was really more like a guest house than a hotel with customers being told they could not take food outside, keys being confiscated if aircon is left on when you go to breakfast, the list is endless. A true Fawlty Towers experience. |

Lovely, impressive building, everything we needed. We had a 1 year old child and the staff were very helpful. They also provided a clean, large decent cot at no extra charge. We couldn't check in before designated time and had to wait around, dififcult with a young child. |

Nice large room (triple). A large balcony opposite the room for just sitting quietly to read a book. Nice gardens to sit in. I did not think the food was quite up to scratch. The breakfast was very mundane mostly bread, cold meats etc. Paying extra for cooked breakfasts and yoghurt. The vegetables were mostly frozen and soggy. Nearest restaurants are a fair walk away. |

The public rooms were charming and on entering the hotel there was a certain wow factor. I think the hotel could do with some decoration. Certainly the view of the outside of the hotel form the swimming pool was not great. I also think that in summer the rooms were fine however I do not think I would stay ther in the winter months as they lacked any cosyness which I think is required |

Position of the hotel. If I am looking for beaches, it will be probably not the best, but for me it was very nice. Mosquitoes - many of them. |

The pool, the foyer, the location were good. It was quiet too. The breakfast was very boring and cheaply done. Whistfil deco with a British army undertone. |

The swimming pool and the air-conditioned bar The food was terrible, particularly dinner. Our room was shabby. There were cracked tiles in the bathroom and a bad smell was coming from the drains. |

All solo travellers are placed in the same area, which the worst rooms are in the hotel, mainly to the street where some work are under way. Large rooms but poor in conformt. No recommend this hotel |

Nice older hotel at a good price. If you are looking for an "british imperial" hotel feeling with high ceilings and antiques, this is quite nice. It's also a little off the beaten path but close to everything you need in sliema. Quiet. If you are looking for a modern hotel recently updated, this is probably not it. Everything was functional including air-conditioning, and the pool looked nice (thought we never went in it as we were busy with other things to do in malta). |

Hotel was in a solid location 5 or so minutes from buses/ferries. Parking was available, helpful as we had a car for a few days. Structure and entrance had a lovely character along with helpful staff. Cost was right on budget. Walking to the hotel was up hill at the end of the day, not a problem for us but might deter some folks. Breakfast was one of the worst I've experienced and we ended up making tea/coffee in the room after the first morning also brought in bread/cheese. Beds were uncomfortable and we actually preferred moving mattresses onto the floor so they shifted less (two single beds) and closer to fan. |
