Hotel Phoenicia Malta    

As always a wonderful stay at our 'home from home' in Valletta. A lovely hotel and great staff.

There's nothing phony about The Phoenicia. What a superb hotel; full of genuine Art Deco furniture and décor, striking original sculpture, sublime paintings and cruelly witty graphics. The perfectly tended 71/2 acres of gardens. The heated pool. Everything is genuine and honest, stylish, excellent and understated. Staff? Helpful, warmly friendly but never familiar. All in all, flawless good taste in an oasis of peace, luxury and relaxation.

The l-o-n-g wait for our excellent, main course to be served in the Pegasus Restaurant. (Otherwise attentive, knowledgeable, friendly service from John, the Maitre d', and all staff).

Location, pleasant staff, agreeable ambience.

We paid extra for an upgrade. As usual, this 5-star hotel (like many others) has rooms that are no more than 4-star quality, even 3-star plus.Ours was small but impeccably clean (but lacks glitz). So, a good hotel but not one of the greats.

Charming old syle hotel. Public rooms excellent as was location

Stayed in room on 2nd floor with balcony. Given the cost of the hotel the rooms are rather small and in need of updating but overall comfortable.

Bathroom facilities in our room getting a bit dated, mould in places, tiles plugged where fittings replaced previously.

The lovely building and garden; the amtmosphere; centrally and beautifully situated. Very nice rooms, polite staff.

The Brasserie could have a better standard, it is quite dark and without view, the waiter was somehow dominating, the tiramisu desert hardly to recognise as such. I would have loved to frequent the Brasserie more often.

Location very good for Valletta . Staff friendleness . Public areas are very impressive. Our room a harbour view suite was very good.

Bathroom did not match the quality of the rest of the room. Lack of wi fi in room.

we liked the location ,the helpful staff and the terrace and garden .The location of the main bus terminus right outside was very useful also . The driver that the hotel organised to pick us up at the airport was very polite,friendly and helpful and set the tone for the rest of our visit.

the city is under extensive construction at the moment so its a bit noisy especiallly near the pool area . All bars and restaurants close at 11pm in the city itself which we found a bit early . The bar in the hotel also closed about that time also .

The atmosphere of an "old " hotel, with Miss Marple entering any moment. Breakfast excellent.

Food ok, not very special. Noise because of external works at swimming pool

The location could not have been better. The hotel from the outside and approach looks very imposing and everything that you would expect from a 5* hotel. Once through the front door it still looks good. The down side come when you get to your room. Please see below.

I had booked a classic room and was travelling alone. The room wasn't cheap but I was expecting more than the box room that I got. The bathroom was well out of date and in need of quite a lot of attention. I asked to be moved and was granted the facility to move to a suite, much more than my requirements but that was the only upgrade offered for which I had to pay and extra 80 euros per night. I reluctantly agreed. All thing considered, this hotel charges 5* prices but is barely worthy of a 3* rating. There are 2 other 5 star hotels within a short distance, both of which I have stayed in recently and which knock spots off the Phoenicia

Staff and atmosphere and the garden. Clenliness of room. Excellent service in obtaining tickerts to the Hypogeum, we liked the proximity to Valletta without being too close, excellent parking.

Dirty windows caused by condensation inside the double glazing- "impossible to clean"

Great location, excellent restaurant "Pegasus braserie", comfortable room and perfect breakfast with champaign every morning.

Beautifully designed hotel, relaxing and luxurious atmosphere, terrific location next to central bus stop and entrance to Valletta, extremely helpful and friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts.

Carpet needed shampooing, room was rather small for a 5* hotel. Breakfast wasn't included in price of hotel room.

Good location - local buses in Malta are best way to get around and the hotel is near the terminus. Elegant hotel, lovely bar. Relaxing garden and pool.

Slow service in the Pegasus brasserie and fish poorly filleted.

Nothing. It was all very good.

The position next to the walled city of Valletta, the staff who do their best to make guests comfortable and breakfast!

Everything else! It's a very old- fashioned and faded hotel and the bedrooms/ suites are quite depressing. Cleaning of the rooms is well below standard, cupboard doors and drawers do not close, the towels are like cardboard etc. etc. A reasonable business hotel with a rating of no more than three to four stars.

Excellent staff providing outstanding service. Great location for enjoying the many attractions of Valletta and for visiting the remainder of the Island of Malta

The Maltese are the friendliest people to all Nations...Nothing is too much trouble
