Great location in Valletta. Charming gardens and pool. Reassuring colonial style. Friendly welcoming staff.
Some bits of equipment and infrastructure coul do with some tlc
Very good hotel, a bit old fashioned that gives him a very charming aspects. The swimming pool offers a splendid view. Very near the old town. good food
No towels at the pool, had to walk back to the reception to get some
Perfect location 2 mins outside main city gate Grand design bars and dinning room Comfortable and good value for money Breatfast is great value to start the day there
We were so impressed with this Hotel. The rooms were bigger than usual. Staff were exceptionally friendly. The location was better than expected and within walking distance to the sights, main street and shops, in Valleta
Foyer bar abd the 1930s 'period' feel as well as the associated staff service. Had a sense of old fashioned classy decadence that most modern hotels lack.
The ambience, the staff, the feeling that you mattered and any request would be dealt with to your satisfaction. As was mine when we were unable to get the room I requested on our first night but happily changed on the second night. Just a perfect peaceful break chilling out.
Nothing to dislike about this hotel and how it's run. Anyone complaining about the Phoenicia are just too hard to please, get a life.
Lovely room, very comfortable. Nice hotel, interesting, with good gardens and nice pool.
The staff at checkout when I wasnt happy with the bill as it did not tally with the booking.com reservation.
Everything about the hotel is first class. While the breakfast is steep E18 the Food variety is excellent
The location is perfect, the breakfast buffet is very good and the rooms are very clean.
Access to the pool and gardens was denied after 8pm. This was a shame as I never got to see them.
The hotel manager, Charles, was friendly and helpful.
Just about everything. Nearness to Bus Station is very useful.
A bit more light in some areas of the Bar and the Lounge would be welcome. Otherwise it is very difficult to read as some guests must want to do.
The location, the swimming pool and gardens and sense of history.
All a little tired and in need of decoration – our room certainly didn't look like the picture. Noisy road. Not very environmentally friendly - There could have been hotel filtered water in the room rather than a single bottle (not very environmental) on day one. A little over-priced.
The hotel is great. Nice rooms with views, tidy and quiet. Great food and live music. The location is perfect for Valletta and surrounding towns.
A bit dirty bathtub.
Bedding dated and had holes in it
The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel itself has a wonderfully elegant feel - easy to imagine yourself back in the 1920s - but with modern comforts! We particularly enjoyed listening to the pianist while sipping cocktails in the Palm Court lounge. All guests were invited to a drinks reception one evening, which was a really nice touch. The bedrooms were spotless, very comfortable beds, cool marble flooring - very welcome on a hot day, lovely wicker furniture and large washbasin in the bathroom. Breakfast was delicious, particularly large choice of pastries, as was dinner. We ate in the Club Bar one night, with subdued lighting and comfortable chairs, what seemed to be war-time photographs on the walls, very atmospheric. The barman shared his prize-winning cocktail recipe with us! All in all a wonderful short break and we wished we had had more time to actually spend in the hotel.
It's hard to find anything. There didn't appear to be wifi in the bedroom, though that didn't bother us unduly. Some newspapers/magazines/board games would have been welcome for the couple of evenings when the weather was too bad to go out. Apparently games and playing cards were available for guests use, but when we asked for Scrabble, it couldn't be found (apparently a previous guest had not returned it!) - however, the reception staff did go to some trouble to try to find it. The live music was lovely, but could have been advertised better (perhaps a weekly leaflet in each room instead of just being advertised on the screen in the lift) and the promised jazz evening did not appear to take place - not before we went to bed, anyway.
staff really friendly and helpful palm court bar ambiance of hotel location pool area
all was good nothing to report here
Location Pool View from room Palm Court lounge
Small fitness room
Gorgeous 1920's Art Deco bar with piano player. Lovely gardens overlooking Grand Harbour with swimming pool
I loved the style and decor of the hotel. The pool area is ideal for a break from the heat. The Club bar has fascinating photographs detailing the history of the Phoenicia. Location is excellent. Concierge was helpful and gave us good advice about local restaurants - he even booked for us. I will definitely stay here again.
There is nothing to dislike about the Phoenicia.
Friendliness and excellent service from staff. Excellent situation for visiting Valletta
Location & transport links. Ambiance: a bit of Art Deco luxury, lounge with music etc Staff attitude. Facilities - pool and gardens very nice, choice of bars and eating. Fantastic proper afternoon tea which was good value. Dinner on terrace was delightful.
A bit pricy, even at end of high season (Oct). "Harbour view" in Deluxe room was a bit limited
no balcony, v poor service in restaurant (breakfast)and bar. Fawlty Towers springs to mind poor English of many staff who were not Maltese, and came from other countries black mould in shower
Staff very courteous and friendly. Buffet breakfast excellent. Pool and gardens Location perfect for Valetta and buses to everywhere.
Piped Jazz music in the bar that the barman couldn't change even though we were the only two in.
great location to old city proximity to bus/transport nice pool with spectacular views room with a balcony relaxing atmosphere within hotel lovely lounge area with live eve music
