The location, the huge family room
unfriendly welcome at check-in
The view of the harbor from the room.
Lack of service at the hotel; quality of room furnishings.
We stayed on third floor which with heavy bags was an ordeal. Otherwise clean, spacious, very central and great view of harbour (as requested). Also, parking tricky in old part of town so check route before arriving, then grab close spot once there.
Location very close to city center and bus terminal, cleanliness, big room and comfortable (we were 3 people in a room for 4 persons), bathroom small but newly equipped, wonderful side view of grand harbor. To note that this hotel is for people willing to climb many stairs (hotel has 3 floors with no elevator, breakfast and check-in takes place very close but going up stairs).
Saturday night it was party under our windows and thus much noise (but other nights it was quiet). Mosquito device or windows permanently closed.
the location, pretty central in charmingly quaint old Valletta, a bit tricky to find, since check in must be done at Luciano Al Porto's restaurant, 2 streets up from the actual hotel's location. Check in is 2pm, but the lady in charge of Hotel cleaning is present in the building in the morning and let you leave your luggage there: early arrivers can then have a stroll around until 2pm. Breakfast included offers a choice between Full English and Continental breakfast, yummy!
Despite double glazing, the location remains pretty noisy, and despite the excellent quality of the mattress and bedding, you're in for a short night if you need real quiet to rest.
Large room with fridge, tv, a/c, fan and a safe, very comfortable bed, great bathroom (small but with a great shower), great view, just a few (well quite a lot actually!) steps into the very heart of the city. The cleaning lady was immensely helpful and super friendly!
Noisy bar beneath the hotel - great on a Friday night for jazz but not so good on a Saturday night when they are still putting tables and chairs away at 3am! Not enough information in the room (a welcome pack would be useful) and the 'freeview' box didn't work.
The atmosphere in the old house was unique compared to modern hotels. Breakfast outside with table service felt luxurious. All tourist spots and a lot of good restaurants within a few minutes' walk.
One night our electric key card stopped working. Someone from the restaurant had to come to let us into our room. I wonder how we had got into our room if this had happened after 10.30 p.m. when the restaurant is closed.
Big superb balcony! Beautiful house with its own energy in a beautiful city!
View from window mind blowing. Superb panoramic view of the Grand harbour and huge yachts. Enormous cruise liners would glide effortlessly by the window adding drama to the view. Wonderful 500 year old honeycolour limestone mini palazzo. Lots of ancient architectural features. Great location , 5 mins from centre and 20 mins or less from airport. Steep steps up to main centre could be a problem for less well abled. Cleaning girl very natural and friendly. Reception desk two blocks away.
Needs more furniture in room for storage, to lay case on. Bathroom tiles too dark, a 1970's shade of browny/beige, ugly. Need more rails to hang towels. Shower doors a bit rickety. Bitten by mosquitoes. Couldn't get more than 2 channels on the telly. No welcome manual/maps of city. No instructions for telly/ air conditioning.
- breakfast was good - location
- The room was described with 25m^2, it was maybe 10-12m^2 with the bathroom inside the room. we did not even have space to open our bags. when we confronted the hotelier, he said he can give us our money back and we can change hotel (very funny, it was still high season and almost everything was booked out) after a long discussion the owner, Luciano himself, came and gave us a discount. Still, too expensive and far too much stress. The hotelier was really unfriendly. - the door of the shower was broken - there was shaved hair in the sink when we arrived
Inside walled city of Valletta makes hotel close to restaurants , shopping & historic landmarks.
Can't get taxi or airport transfer service to Ursula St. hotel, due to narrowness of street and stairs. Also, hotel check in and owners are located 2 streets away on Merchant St. at Luciano's restaurant. People with roller luggage cannot get up/down all the stairs between the restaurant and the hotel. This info is critical to know in advance and is not made known during booking. This is confusing and not friendly for first time guests. If you have any physical disabilities or difficulty negotiating stairs, this hotel location is not for you.
Location and sea view from our room. Good breakfast at their restaurant up the hill.
Reception desk and hotel are NOT AT THE SAME LOCATION! They SHOULD mention it when you book a room. Luckily, our taxi driver told us where to go. Otherwise, it would have been a nightmare with our luggages.
Rooms with a harbour view. Breath taking...
Very nice location.
The room would be nice by Maltese way, but it is only keeping 2 star quality compared with european captials over all. Boutiq hotels must have a little better quality.
The position is superb.make sure to ask for the room that overlook the harbor. The place is very quiet at night and it is possible to sleep with the window open and a lovely breeze ( and you don'need the air con)
Not suitable for unfit /elderly/ wheelchairs. There is no elevator and the hotel is at the end of a long stairs that sometimes gets slippery
Well thought out room, everything you need, good view from room we had.
A bit impersonal, but functional for an overnight stay.
Excellent location and views. Breakfast very good.
Difficult to find. We were on the 3rd floor with no lift.very hard to take luggage up.you have to be very fit.breakfast was good but away from hotel about 200 steps to get there
In a great location with an excellent view of the harbor. Very nice stay with breakfast at a restaurant up the street included.
Parking would be nice!
We loved the views and its closeness to the restaurant and co-cathedral and the centre of town. The maid service was excellent. The full breakfasts were excellent and our one dinner at Luciano was very good.
We had booked a cab through the staff for 6:30 am departure. It didn't arrive becaused someone had neglected to call the cab company, who were very prompt when I called them directly. Perhaps a note in the room that the water is safe to drink although bottled water is better.
Beautiful view, great location, quiet yet convenient. Very reasonable price. Will be back. So good , should keep it a secret :-)
Ridiculously small shower cubicle, should just be a "wet-shower" with a curtain. Bar fridge not cold enough. Air-con sounded like it was shattering every 5 minutes.
Fantastic view of the Grand Harbour Excellent location Within walking distance of Valletta
The room was very nice and well-furnished. The AC made a weird noise every once and a while but it worked fine.
-Staff is horrible; they offer airport shuttle service but when I pre booked it the day prior to checkout apparently no one at the reception bothered to call the company to get us a car for the morning, making me and my wife late to the airport. All of the Maltese people my wife and I met during our trip were very nice; with the exception of the hotel staff and al-porto. the staff was pretty rude when I came to check in. -The reception and the hotel are about 200 meters apart from each other, and its in a pizza restaurant near the co-cathedral. It's not a huge deal just kind of annoying when you are checking in/out or have an issue. -The cleaning crew did a terrible job cleaning it before we checked in. For 107 euros a night I kind of expect the bathroom to be clean. - all in all its not worth the money they charge, there are a lot of hotels to choose from in Valletta; my advice is to go somewhere else.
Panorama, breakfast, wifi
Modern within old building and very clean.
Doesn't look good externally.
effective airconditioning and excellent view over harbour. Cleaning of room and provision of linen good.
key card was not available when we arrived. had to phone a number of times to get the key issue resolved. Had to walk to a cafe 2 streets away for breaksfast (this was inconvenient and also for older people it would have been very inpractical as the walk involved climbing 2 sets of very steep stone steps. Food was poor - choices poor - continental breakfast was stingy 2 slices of meat and slice of cheese with roll. No fruit provided at all. Cooked breakfast was adequate only. on the last but one day (a Sunday) we asked for a cooked breakfast - cook was not available so we were presented with a breakfast which was virtually inedible. not good value for money (I paid £588 for week). No ironing facilities even though stated in advert that iron would be availble in room. Also no water available when we arrived. I would definitely not recommend this accommodation!
