- great localisation in the quiet, historic Senglea - incredible view from the terrace - modern, well equiped kitchen - very comfortable bed - helpful owner
everything was perfect
Comfort, view, quiet, to relax on the roof top terrace in the evening, perfect for our stay.
Location in Senglea is brilliant ~ easy walk to great restaurants and wonderful atmosphere in historic old town. Self catering kitchen is really useful. Breakfast on the terrace is superb - the most amazing panoramic view across to Valletta takes your breath away. Greeted on arrival by Liliana who made us feel very welcome - she is a wonderful host. We loved everything. Would we go back? In a heartbeat....
Parking can be tough - take the first place you find and walk a short distance
Liliana and Susannah were very helpful and welcoming our room was lovely, the view from rooftop was extraordinary. We cannot wait to return
Wonderful view, very helpful and friendly owner, well equipped
Non touristy neighbourhood and waterfront views Personal contact with Liliana, a caring hostess Boat ride to and from Valletta- a nice change from all the bus rides Friendly local grocery store
Just about everything. It's a lovely quiet spot with fabulous views across Grand Harbour from the roof terrace. Liliana is so helpful and even drove us down the street I used to live in in the mid 50s to see if I could recognise the house we lived in when she collected us from the airport. I have no doubt that our first visit will not be our last!! It is so handy for both the bus and the ferry and even though the ferry stops early the busses run till much later. There are some good and very friendly restaurants along the front within a 10 minute walk and if you want to have your dinner on the roof terrace they will do any of their dishes as a carryout for you. So a lovely dinner at the Sally Port and no cooking to worry about. Win win comes t mind. Thank you Liliana..
Leaving, but we will be back.
The warm and friendly welcome from Liliana and the location among a genuine community. A memorable holiday; the roof top terrace with harbor views are breathtaking and endless fascination of the changing scene overlooking the busy marina.
Sunshine and high temperatures come with high humidity.
Great location in quiet Senglea, close to bars and restaurants. Ferry can take you to Valletta in 10 min. Perfect spot for exploring the "3 cities". THe view from the terrace is simply amazing. A kitchen (shared) is available, making you feel like at home! The hotel manager Liliana is really friendly, always available to help you out and suggesting places to go and things to do.
The roof top terrace view over the harbour. The enthusiasm and passion by Liliana for her Country ,was very refreshing. The welcome was next to nothing with a mini tour thrown in too. Accomodation and the weather was equally good to us too.
nothing.every thing was perfect ,even the weather.
Excellent location for those not wanting to be right at the heart of Valletta. Water taxi very convenient and enjoyable element. Wonderful opportunities for dining, snacks and drinking locally. Vittoriosa also very convenient, only 15 minutes walk away. Lovely terrace as well.
Can't think of anything
You will never know it's a hidden getaway until you step inside. Naturally blending into the neighburhood of Senglea. View of Valetta from the terrace is simply breathtaking. Several good seafood restaurants are located within walking distance.
No telephone in the room. It would have been better if they provide two room keys for guests.
location, view, attentive manager
The accommodation has a small kitchenette inside the room with sink and basic utilities, the room is airconditioned perfectly for those hot nights, and it is located in a very quite street in Senglea. I enjoy the morning trips by the water taxi to Valetta and enjoy the feeling of 'coming home' after adventurous days to the small city of Senglea. The hotel has few restaurants near by the waterfront only few minutes walking distance. Liliana has helped to comfort me on my first day to the country where i knew no one and knew very little of. Sally Port Senglea is very clean and the cherry on top is the balcony overlooking excellent view of Upper Barakka garden and the city of Valetta. Love, love, love.
Transportation wise, the water taxi does not run until late so i had to decide to go back to the hotel and stayed in Senglea all evenings--but that is also because i travel alone. Would consider to stay in Sliema if i would travel to experience the night life.
The property was comfortable, well presented and gave an experience of a traditional style of Maltese house. The upstairs kitchen and terrace gives disconcerted living space and a beautiful view which removes the sense of being trapped in a hotel room. Free wifi and a kitchenette in each room makes the experience welcoming and comfortable. Liliana the owner was very helpful sorting out airport drop off and pickup. She also allowed me to keep my room for several extra hours as there wasn't a booking that night with no thought for payment.
The property is up a steep hill which you have to climb attaché end of the day. But so is almost everywhere in Valletta. The real saving grace is the weather taxi. 10 minute walk down hill and on the flat in the morning and takes you to the heart of the Valletta waterfront right by the bottom of the lift right up to the top of the town. And your water taxi ticket makes the lift free. S the inconvenience is much less than you would think. But if you don't like hills it might discourage you.
Nicely restored traditional Maltese House. You feel very safe and away from the tourist crowd in Valletta, however easy to get there by small ferry. Do not miss to explore three cities and narrow streets around the house.
Wifi was not efficient unfortunately and kept cutting out
Sally Port Senglea is a well presented traditional town house within walking distance of good restaurants (in particular Slaney's), convenience and fresh fruit/veg. stores. The roof terrace offers magnificent views of nearby Vittoriosa and Valletta. I was fortunate my trip coincided with Malta's anniversary celebrations following its accession to the EU, which included a spectacular fireworks display over Grand Harbour (30 Apr.). The owners are attentive, knowledgeable and helpful - a real credit to themselves.
Intermittent WiFi, but this was not a major concern. I chose Senglea to relax and was able to do just that. However, if you are looking for evening entertainment beyond dining out, please take note: the last ferry leaves Senglea for Valletta at 6:05pm. Then again, there is always the bus.
Liliana and Michael, the owners, were excellent. Renato the taxi driver arranged by Liliana was a mine of information and friendly. The location of the house was superb. Modern, quiet, oozing charcter, clean and superb views. We will return to enjoy Port Senglea again. The jewel in the crown is the top room and terrace which overlooks the harbour, Valetta and Vittoriosa... a wow factor!. This accommodation is a MUST for anyone staying on Malta.
Nothing we didn't like, just a few more cups, plates, etc. in the top kitchen would be great, especially at peak booking times.
The location, the view, the quiet, the house itself. Possibly the best location in the Valetta area. The combination of the water taxi and the lift into Valetta made sightseeing very easy. Tip - there is an interim stop for the water taxi on the Senglea side of the inlet (we made the mistake of walking all the way round to the terminus on the Vittoriosa side). A brilliant base for a weekend.
Self catering was a bit tricky given the absence of decent local shops.
The location in a quiet resedential area and only seevn minutes away from fascinating Valletta was perfect for us. The extra kitchen and sittingroom area on the roof combined with a big terrasse and a fantastic view over the harbour to Victoriosa and Valetta made this tastefully restored house a perfect choice for us. Liliana was a very helpful and perfect host.
Not so easy to get to Valetta in the evening
this place is just wonderfull- away from the touristy places you get the feeling how life could be living in Valetta! a very nicely rennovated house with a commun roof top terrase and a huge kitchen aera invite you to go and buy local specialities and tast them with a breath taking view! the owners are very friendly and helpful there is a couple of restaurants near by and a water taxi going directly to valetta! we had a wonderful time but made the mistake not to stay longer !!!!
Thanks for this amazing stay in senglea! The ferry boat is so close from the guest house : 7 minutes til Valetta!! The breakfast on the roof with Valetta's view is just awesome!!!
Nothing, all was greater
Lovely owner that made us feel welcome and very comfortable. Look forward to seeing you soon!
The communal dining kitchen with roof top patio with views over the harbour and out to Valetta was amazing! We stayed in January so even when the rain came the floor to ceiling glass sliding doors provided an amazing view. This additional room is great for meeting other guests or if you have a group renting the whole house out provides a nice social area-will be great in the summer for BBQ's! The kitchenette in our room was perfect for breakfasts and snacks complete with fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and sink. The whole house was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The location was ideal for all the tourist attractions in Senglea, Burga and Valetta, a water taxi takes you to Valetta relatively quickly and there are buses from the main bus station in Valetta which run later into the evening and stop just a short walk away from the accommodation, this enabled us to see a much wider area of Malta in a short 4 night stay.
The en-suite shower room is very compact, which for us wasn't a problem. The only slight issue was the hot water would run out very quickly, so the shower had to be very quick before it would run cold and there was only just enough hot water for one person to have a shower before waiting for the little storage tank to heat up again.
