No wi-fi in rooms Old-fashioned rooms
Clean rooms, good breakfast, nice peaceful setting
Rooms and bathroom somewhat dated
We had the most lovely, peaceful stay at Ta'Cenc during our honeymoon!! Our favorite place we stayed during our 10 days in Malta. Absolutely beautiful hotel set amongst nature with views out to the sea, laid-back luxury. They upgraded us (at no additional charge) to one of the 'trulli' rooms that had an amazing view and outdoor terrace, absolutely lovely and highly recommended if you can book one! Staff lovely and attentive, we had 3 delicious dinners and great breakfast selection too. Spa pool is also lovely.Everyone made us feel very much at home in this special Gozo retreat, really can't wait to visit again!
The hotel's beach was closed for a film shoot, but obviously this is a rare occurrence! Bathroom's are a little outdated, but completely functional especially as our room's furnishings had been recently updated.
Every year for the last 9 years we choose this hotel again & again. We love everything about this hotel: location, architectural design, spa, food, facilities, hospitality of the stuff, etc. This hotel is number 1 on our list. Would highly reccomend.
The lagoon/pool, the friendly staff, the surroundings and the unique set up of the hotel.
Some rooms need a good refurbishment. Our room was far from the main hotel/ reception and the passage way was not lit, therefore at night we had to walk in the dark.
The lovely view of Malta - Will ask for the same room the next time I will be at Ta' Cenc. The late evening swim underneath the stars in the heated pool. The tranquility of the place. The wonderful walks and lovely scenery around Ta' Cenc cliffs
Unfortunately Ta' Cenc, like all places I visited in Gozo, is no exception to flies and mosquitoes.
We were a family of 5 and booked 2 rooms. We were offered 2 rooms which were far away from each other. it was only after 30 minutes of bickering with the receptionist and mutiple phone calls to a colleague that we were given 2 rooms which were in the same area
The environment is beautiful and very peaceful. The heated pool is marvellous and the glass sauna is extremely relaxing. Food is excellent.
The rooms are old and require a facelift. The coffee which was available in the room was rotten and this is unacceptable in a hotel of this rating.
Very friendly, relaxing hotel, good food too!
No internet in room unless you paid
Situation, chalets, staff, meals, outlook, pools. Sitting, looking out over the valley to Malta, with hardly a sound to be heard!
Wi-fi at a charge (freein hotel Cêntre).
Great location, beautiful setting nice quiet adult pool. Good food and staff at the beach resteraunt.
Needs a little bit of up keep.
BEATIFUL LOCATION, VERY CLEAN HOTEL AND WONDERFUL STAFF. THANKS
Ta Cenc should be a wonderful hotel. The beach is probably the nicest part of it and has an idyllic setting and beautiful water to swim in - although it's not suitable for young or unfit. The hotel has a lovely location, pretty buildings and grounds, decent swimming pool areas - but it's just all too tired and the service ranges from ok to awful. We had stayed here 13 years ago as part of out honeymoon. It was a bit rough around the edges then, but other than some room refurbishment there has been little recognisable improvement. When I say room improvement, the soft furnishings and furniture had changed but that was it - and we probably had one of the better rooms. The food was generally good - even if the waiters were busy arguing amongst themselves a lot of the time!
The bathrooms are still unchanged - and I doubt have been re-done since the place was built. Whilst are room was nice, the air conditioning and fan were the loudest I've ever come across so I needed to use earplugs. The window frame was rotten and had a chunk of wood missing so any insects wanting a way in had an easy entrance! Service - I come from a Maltese family and have spent a lot of time there over the years so know service is generally bad and painfully slow at times, however, this shouldn't be the case in a "5" star hotel!! The girl with probably the hardest job of taking drinks orders around the pool and going back and forth in the heat, could have been there a bit more often but at least she was charming and smiled when she did come. Some examples of unacceptable service: 1) Arrived at hotel reception and checked in. As it was about 30 minutes before check-in the room wasn't ready so I said that's fine, we'll head to the pool. Nobody said welcome to Ta'Cenc, nobody send we hope you have a nice stay, nobody said "the pool is that way". We just went off and found it ourselves! 2) When you are using the restaurants and reception area there is only one set (male/female) of toilets for guests to use. One day at breakfast I went to the loo - no loo paper in the ladies so I took a bit from the gents - neither had been cleaned. This was 9am, I went to reception and told them, they said they'd send somebody to clean it. Roll on to lunchtime - 1pm, back to the loo, still in absolutely the same condition, nothing had been done, told reception who said they'd get it sorted - not that they seemed remotely bothered. 2pm - went back, still nothing. You get the picture!!! Seriously, how hard is it for someone to find some loo roll and give the place a mop. Just useless. 3) Check out - again, no element of charm, yet alone good service. Large bill produced, no thank you or have you enjoyed your stay.
This hotel is good, if you just want to relax and sit by the pool. Breakfast was nice. The location is good if you have your own car.
This is not a 5 star hotel and should not be advertised as such. The bathroom was very outdated, more like in a 2 or 3 star hotel. When you walk 10 meters from the pool, you'll see an old garden that has been neglected for decades and blocks the view to the sea. The extension of the car park is some sort of a landfill area and there were piles of rubble and garden waste here and there. Environmental issues clearly don't interest the owner. The restaurant was a huge disappointment: 5 star prices, but you'll get similar food in any corner pub. You don't expect to see cats walking around and begging for food in a 5 star restaurant/breakfast area. When you dine here you don't get any receipt or list of what you have orderer: so be careful when you check out and pay everything days later. An extra wine bottle had been added to our bill, but luckily we managed to sort that out. This hotel has a lot of potential, but unfortunately it is now quite a rip-off.
Location, helpful staff, breakfast
No free wifi in rooms, spa is getting old, rooms are definitely not up to a 5* standard in Western Europe. I would only go back after a serious face lift.
The location was good - being out from the main town & in a quiet area, however, none of the rooms have a sea view. There was a good range of food for breakfast, and they have baby highchairs and baby food available for dinner. We also had a baby cot available for our room. The adult and family pools were ok; could have been cleaner. The private beach area is not within walking distance, but it had a great location and view; The restaurant there had better food and service than the restaurant in the hotel and the staff were much more friendlier there.
On arrival no one was there to greet us or open the front door, which you would expect of a 5-star hotel. The staff were just chatting to each other when we approached the front desk & we had to interrupt them to get their attention. The lady who served us was not helpful at all; we had to ask her where things were in the hotel grounds & how to access the internet. We were not told that one has to pay for the internet in the room. We were not shown around. Their private beach was not signposted from the hotel, and staff did not know how to direct us there. It is a 15 minute drive away; the reception only had a very bad map with no text, showing a blue line which could be anywhere. Our room was a box, with no view and other guests always woek us up in the night when passing. We asked reception three times if we could have another room but they never got back to us. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on our first night; staff were not helpful. When we asked for a spoon a waitress told us we could get it ourselves on a table in their buffet area. For a 5-star hotel, I would expect them to get us something as simple as a spoon, rather than just chat with another 3 waitresses in the corner. We used their adult pool & their family pool; there are no waiters around if you want a drink or snack; you need to find a waiter at the bar and carry the drinks yourself to your pool bench. My husband had a beer at the bar and a waiter took away his half finished beer as he stepped away for one minute to chase our 1 year old son. My husband asked for his beer and the waiter filled another glass with a tiny amount saying this was what was left! At the private beach we also had to ask for and carry our drinks down several cliff-side steps to our bench - AND we also needed to return our glasses to the restaurant after. I am a pregnant woman with a 1 year old baby. I expect a lot more from a 5-star hotel. This was a complete joke!
Unfriendly staff in the reception and Spa area didn't work anything. Hotel very old, not clean enough for a 5* Not worth value for money at all! I will not recommend the hotel to anyone.
Really loved the place would love to go again
Bathrooms though need refurbishment. Was a bit disappointed with dinner.
The location in the more laid-back island of Gozo was perfect for what we were seeking: sun, sea and relaxation. Take advantage of the shuttle to the private "beach", but go early if you want to claim an umbrella and lounge chairs in a more isolated corner. Note, it is not a sandy beach, rather a rocky cliff, but the sea is sublime (you just need to walk down some steps). We had a larger cottage a bit farther from the main area, which was perfect! Some of the other cottages closer to the pool gets a bit more foot traffic. The restaurant was very good. Choices at brekky were plentiful and fresh.
The beach gets a bit over-run with loud motorboaters on Sunday.
What a beautiful spot! You need at least 3 days to check out the 3 different swimming pools, another to spend the day at the spa and a couple more to check out all the wonderful sights of Gozo! The staff were lovely and very accommodating and the gift shop had some lovely locally made Maltese silver at excellent prices. I'm already planning my return trip.
Staff, pools, location amazing with views
Didn't clean up around pool area very often and pool little dirty
Adult Pool SPA Rooms Comfortable Restaurant menu & quality of food Great breakfast
Bathroom dated & needs refurbishment. At times, staff try to be too friendly with guests
Big, Spacious rooms, with ample space for a child's cot. The children's pool is very big and ideal for families with children of all ages. Very good breakfast. We had lunch too which was also very good.
The room is a little dated, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was served only outside and it was too hot. Some fans are needed.
Great location and setting Very nice Spa pool
Noisy ac system Old decor and bathroom Room card reader did not work
Lovely environment; happy with the tea/ coffee facilities in room; nice terrace adjoining room; breakfast included quite a variety of options; pool within spa is lovely.
Though the hotel was generally clean, we were a bit disappointed with the spa area (next to indoor section of pool); we noticed that the area could have been cleaned a bit better.
