In the center of Malta's city of Valletta and 215 yards from the harbor-view promenade, the Grand Harbour Hotel features free Wi-Fi throughout and a terrace. The front desk is open 24 hours a day.
Score from 953 reviews Very good
Set just outside the historic entrance to Valletta, this seafront hotel offers views of Marsamxett Harbour and Manoel Island. It provides free parking and large outdoor and indoor swimming pools.
Score from 1142 reviews Excellent
Set within Valletta's ancient fortifications, the Osborne Hotel is a 5-minute walk from Malta's St. John’s Cavalier and St. John’s Co-Cathedral. The rooftop swimming pool provides great views.
Score from 557 reviews Very good
Right on Sliema's seafront, Hotel Marina is just a few steps from Sliema Bus Terminus and the ferry port to Valletta.

St John's square was brillant location! As a solo traveller you are well situated for sight seeing as there is plenty to see and do in Valletta. The buses which are on the entrance to the city are easy to use and cheap.
The restaurant staff really. They were only interested in the workings of serving the eating public and were down right rude actually when I arrived - there is no reception - in all manner of the word. There was a lift but that was not always available and I struggled down 3 flights of dimly lit stairs with a heavy case at 7.30 am on my departure.
Location , view of St. John's from our room was amazing , helpfulness of staff very Accomodating organising 4am pickup and packed breAkfast
Springs could be felt in bed mattresses. Elevator only accessible during restaurant hours
The area and outdoor café facilities
steps on the upper floors!
The location of this guesthouse was excellent. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We had a duplex room overlooking the square which was brilliant.
The only downside to staying here was the noise from the cathedral bells. They went on all through the night causing a week of sleepless nights!
The room was spacious and very clean. Display of all things past very quirky, but wonderfully laid out. Spent some time exploring all the nooks and crannies, as well as the views from the rooftop area. We enjoyed the experience so much, we have booked in again for next year.
Might be an idea to check rooftop area for empty glasses and bottles from the night before.
location, roof terrace, breakfast
The restaurant was so busy, there was no sense of service for hotel guests. The bells of the cathedral made sleeping through the night impossible.
Location is excellent, staff is very friendly, room is clean
Access to hotel is through the bar - without knowing this beforehand it is very difficult to find it. Surprized that guest has to pay for AC separately- we've learned it when our AC stopped working. Nobody bothered to tell us this during check in which resulted in sleepless night. Elevator stops working after ten at night and is not turned on till after 8 in the morning, which was also surpizing. To get to the ground from the 4 th floor with heavy suitcase via spital narrow stairway was very non- trivial task, to say the least.
superb location, helpful staff, lovely rooms and great food
The location of the b&b is outstanding, right in the very heart of Valletta surrounded by stunning streets, passageways and squares. It's a very quirky property with lots of passageways, corridors, balconies and antiques of its own!
The staff were disinterested, bordering on rude. There was a night where the power was lost. I went to inform reception and was snapped at saying 'we know'.. Lots of eye rolling and tutting... Not professional at all.. The same was true at breakfast where we had to ask several times and wait nearly 20 minutes for a coffee and a juice..
Rooms were ok Go for English breakfast. Continental does not offer you much Great position, close to all attractions, to ferrys and to the bus terminal. Fast response from the staff to a shower problem.
Hotel is actually a restaurant that happens to have some rooms. The noise of the cathedral could be a problem for rooms that face it. We heard it, but it was not disturbing.
When I arrived in Valletta I felt like I had stepped back in time into a medieval century. My room was exactly like this with sandstone walls, balcony, tiled floors and old world furniture. This was a wonderful experience in life. Breakfast was wonderful in the restaurant downstairs below the accomodation. A life experience definitely not to be missed.
The heat of Malta in summer
I loved the located St Johns Catherdal across the way and easy access to sights cafes ext.
The shower is a bit small.
Locaton could not be any more central. Room was small but had everything I needed. Bathroom ammenities, aircon, etc.
Very noisy because of the inner courtyard, very poor reception as you have to check in at the restaurant bar (which wasn't made clear, so I travelled up and down the elevator looking for a reception. During mealtime, the staff has no time for you. Payment was demanded upfront. WiFi kept losing signal. Room had no outside window, so was very dark.
Quirky hotel with early 19th C household items - great atmosphere. A/C in the room. Decent shower. They sorted us out with snacks/ drinks instead of breakfast due to early flight. Ate lunch and dinner at the restaurant, which was excellent.
Paid for double bed through booking.com. Shown room with twin beds. Queried with girl who showed us the room - she commented that we could push the beds together. :-( Couldn't be bothered to complain further as we had an early start anyway.
Fabulous Staff. Hello Andrew. If you want a cookie cutter experience, this is not for you. This is a great hotel but is a little off beat. It is not a holiday Inn. You couldn't find a better place in Malta. Easy to find and is the real Malta with really nice staff!
Didn't want to leave.
Great room Flexible breakfast Great location Great staff Wonderful during a brownout
Location on Merchant street if you want to hear the heart of Malta beat!! Clean rooms and very nice building Nice service
The Church is right opposite the window and Maltese bells are in service all the time so you need to be "mentally" prepared to this..
Brilliant location, helpful friendly staff (we arrived an hour before actual check in, but no quibbles from them), lovely attention to detail in the style of the hotel -quirky and colourful. Roof top terrace gave an alternative location to spend some time other than the room, which was not massively spacious.
Located behind the cathedral of St John, the bells sounded all through the night. Even with the windows closed, and air conditioning running, it was impossible to get any sleep. Not sure if the bells are an all year/ all week thing, or just because it is the run up to a major festival in Malta. Roof top 'terrace' was a bit sruffy.
Location Restaurant staff Traditional building Able to leave cases prior to check in
Breakfast a bit bland
the decoration, the style, the location, the seize of the room.
Very good location Picturesque
No window in the room Staff not very friendly or polite
Great location. Beautiful and comfortable room. Amazing price. Friendly Staff.
The room was extremely clean and well maintained. The decor chosen was very stylish. The wifi signal worked well in the room.If you are looking for a central location in Valletta, this place offers a perfect location. The included breakfast was very good.
I understand I arrived far before the check in time, but it would be very helpful if early check in is allowed as soon as a room becomes available. I also was quite surprised that the room only offers a window onto the small walkway between the rooms. The window also does not have glass in it, so if you have the air on you must close the wooden doors effectively making the room very closed in. You must check in at the restaurant under the rooms.
Perfect location, great personnel, delicious breakfast and cosy room:)
