Family-run, highly recommended, and perfect location. Visually, the most interesting place we've ever stayed!! Decor is interesting, quirky, and full of surprises, found myself photographing every wall and surface! Our room even had a spiral staircase leading to a mezzanine. Staff were v. friendly, helpful. Bathroom was v. spacious and clean, with wonderful shower, hot and strong. Their buzzy restaurant is excellent, and obviously popular with locals through the day. Generous portions of amazingly presented food. Would def. stay again, no question.
Can't really think of anything to dislike!
Friendly staff in the restaurant. Very central location. Beautiful decoration.
Unprofessional check in. There is no reception or anything, you just walk around with suitcases until the owner of the restaurant sees you and call you into the restaurant where you check in standing in front of the kitchen. The room was clean but not deep cleaned. The bed was super squirky and because the place is central and the windows old it is impossible to have a relaxing sleep during the night. I really felt that it was overpriced -paid 75 euro- we were only in Valletta 1 night due to connecting flights but it was disappointing.
Location good with view over Cathedral and square. In a pedestrian area, so no motor traffic.
Our first room they said had a view of the courtyard which was only the landing. The only window was on to the landing. However after 2 nights got a room overlooking the square which was excellent. Food was poor.
this hotel is great by means of location, all historical places are in walking distance. the hotel is pretty it is located above the restaurant, and the lift goes to the hotel from the middle of the restaurant so it is an interesting setup. rooms are fresh and nicely decorated. some of them don't have windows that look outside so be cautious about that. staff is very friendly and they help you for anything you want. there is the most famous church tight across the hotel and bells are very loud during the night. be sure to bring noise canceling ear plugs or beware of this. bells run every 15 minutes or so. the breakfast is served at the restaurant. restaurant's tables are a bit dirty and the restaurant doesn't feel as fresh as the rooms but the breakfast is delicious. you have a choice between English breakfast and continental breakfast. continental includes eggs, ham, cheese, toasted bread, 2 coffees and orange juice. they don't serve full breakfast on Sundays they give pastries instead.
no full breakfast on Sundays church's bells that run every 15 minutes during the night small and not so clean bathrooms
Location, quirky and charming interiors (authentic Malta experience) - including the starcaise to the night entrance, we loved it and almost never used the lift; good breakfast; staff mostly very helpfull
We had a room with windows facing directly to the cathedral and the bells were really disturbing, although it was OK with earplugs; sometimes a little confused staff, but nothing serious; cold eggs for breakfast (like refrigerated)
staff was great. Very central to old town Valletta
Church bells all night? checking -in at the bar while staff is serving dinner. Elevator only runs during certain time period-so had to carry bags down steep, no well lighted stairs, because we had to leave before 8:30 am
Big sized rooms with furniture in very good condition. The room was cleaned every day (including new towels). The breakfast is decent. The staff is kind and helpful.
The cathedral's bells struck every 15 minutes resting just for several hours in the night. There is great deal of noise coming from the street. The window we had in our room was small sized and started from the floor. There's no reception desk - downstairs restaurant is used for such which makes late check-in quite risky since the restaurant closes at 10:30
Just opposite Cathedral of St John. Very helpful staff.
Our rooms (3 doubles) had no windows whatsoever. Breakfast was OK, just make sure you ask for more and they'll give you.
The B&B was situated right in the heart of Valletta, shops and restaurants at your doorstep. The accommodation was pretty good for a family of 4.
The evenings are pretty quiet in the area, so by 10:30 there isn't much open within walking distance
Really helpful staff, excellent food, lovely room, great decor.
Modern but with old character features. Great location and staff.
The church bells chime every 15 minutes all through the night!
Location, food downstairs
The bells of the church each quarter during the night
Very accommodating friendly staff, nice room, great roof top with amazing views. Highly recommend
No problems whatsoever
The location was excellent and we very much enjoyed our stay in Valetta, everything we wanted to do over our short stay was within walking distance and we thought we received great value for money
Nothing to report
The restaurant below the rooms was excellent. Great location - easy to get around not just Valetta, but the whole island. We met the owners 1 day out of 7 and they were so friendly and helpful - I would have liked to see more of them for recommendations, advice etc.
Very small high up window in the room, very stuffy and dark. They have a great roof terrace with amazing views, however it was in need of a good tidy up and some TLC to make the most of it! Staff seemed to focus more on the restaurant side of the business rather than the rooms.
The hotel is right in the centre next to St. John's Cathedral.
The noise that the clock chimes make regularly 24/7. We coped with this by wearing earplugs for sleeping.
* the location is excellent, i guess this is what you are paying for. * the staff was nice and friendly too! * the room was also clean and nice, had an authentic Maltese feel to it
* the breakfast tasted well below average. both continental and english * flies, flies, flies, flies. i haven't seen a single uv-lamp to take care of the flies. * the terrace has a great potential but instead is filled with junk * the price is unfair for the provided services... i understand that this is because of the location, but you're just getting a generic nice clean room for the price of a villa room with a pool
Being in the hustle and bustle of the centre of the city. Masses of interesting memorabilia on the walls and in corridors around the hotel. Lovely staff and good reasonably priced food.
St John's Co-Cathedral clock chiming throughout the night - but we were warned!
Location was excellent. Handy restaurant on the ground floor.
Only window looked onto the common internal courtyard, so no fresh air. If you wanted privacy you had to close the shutters, which meant no daylight.
Maria, the owner was so helpful and hospitable. Good location, lovely spacious room, excellent breakfast, and the fabulous family restaurant nearby was an added bonus. Highly recommended.
Really nice location, super friendly staff, especially Aleka and Pauline and the chef, great food, flexible service, nice rooms, really liked the design and atmosphere, nice view from roof top, clean.
Internet was not working in all the rooms, was quite unreliable. Rooms can only be accessed by the elevator during restaurant opening hours, closes10.30pm, except for Sunday when it closes already at 3pm. We did not mind taking the stairs, nice design, but for those with handicap or the elderly it could be something to consider.
The hotel is a piece of history in itself with its carefully restored rooms, stairways and passages. The food is good and the staff are helpful and you are right in the middle of the old town. The view from the rooftop is wonderful.
The only thing to be aware of is the proximity of the church bells which strike every 15 minutes - if this is likely to disturb your sleep then make sure you have good earplugs.
Location in centre of pedestrian area but only 50m up from taxi drop off. Pretty room, comfy bed, good shower, 24/7 access (card), good coffee, cheerful staff. Church bells do wake you, but expecting them & back to sleep afterwards; slept with window open & air con off & didn't bother with the ear plugs I'd brought. Following a week walking & snorkelling in Gozo-2 days was perfect to tour all churches & old city.
Aspects of continental breakfast were disappointing (coffee good, juice & toast fine, packet ham & cheese slices dull, packet jam and butter normal).
We arrived at 9pm to the Luciano Boutique Hotel where an unfriendly member of staff checked us in, in the middle of a restaurant. We were led up to our room, which upon opening the door we were met with an unbelievable gush of hot air. They hadn't even the air con on for us. We were gasping. Then the church bells chimed EVERY 20 MINUTES all through the night. Between the heat and the bells, we didn't sleep a wink. The next morning, we were shown to a table for breakfast by another unfriendly, uninterested member of staff. It felt like we were an inconvenience to them. The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. On departing the same member of staff that checked us in left me standing with 4 big suitcases in the busy restaurant with key cards in my hand waiting to check out. She looked at me and was fully aware that I was checking out however she continued to pass me by. Eventually she acknowledged me, she never even asked "Was our stay ok?" The staff in this hotel have NO customer service. It was so disappointing.
Good position and relaxing
