Male is best for a stopover for a night if you have an early flight as the commute to the islands may not make it possible to catch your flight.
When I flew in I was able to catch a ferry to an island I was staying. My flight out was very early in the morning so I had to stay in Male. Very crowded and stressful in my opinion.

Its very easy to go around, was able to walk everywhere, did not need a taxi. I would recommend eating out by the seaside restaurant, they have beautiful views and amazing ambience in the evening. Otherwise, I will not recommend staying in Male if you are on holidays, you can stay in the nearby islands and visit Male late afternoon.

Male is a beautiful, clean and safe city with very warm people around. Lot of small eating places around. Proximity to the local markets as well. Very easy to move around the city by foot, bus transport or taxi. Jetty's are available to visit nearby islands/atolls as well. This holiday in Maldives was most relaxing and chilled out!

Densely packed place.
Densely packed place. Few pavements, many parked motorcycles and very uneven surface. Stout shoes required. Generally polite locals but some prefer to hog what pavement there is and expect you to move, Don't expect too many smiles.

Male is a very compact and busy city.
Male is a very compact and busy city. The infrastructure was poor, particularly the pavements and the upkeep of the few small green spaces, manmade beach and coastline where you would like to sit and rest.

It is difficult for people from the West to get used to the chaos and traffic they live in. Motorcycles jump out from all directions, there are no traffic lights, crossing the road is very difficult. The noise and mass of people is non-stop everywhere. But except for the difficult Western adaptation to the chaos - a very beautiful town, wonderful people, restaurants, markets, everything is very lively and people are very kind everywhere. Definitely a city to visit one day before going to the island or back home.
Fantastic rooms, Lobby and Kitchen area (where you can cook yourself anytime of the day)..Fabulous location( easily accessible to all prime locations of Hulhumale) Excellent staffs, very young and energetic owner Mr. Irfan who treated me like his friend and showed me all over male city in his own car (FOC) and also free airport pickups and drops.. He will help you in all sort of things. Best Guesthouse i ever lived in. Thanks for making my stay worth. If i ever comeback again to Male, i am definitely choosing this property.
My stay was hassle free.. The hotel staff supported on each and everything... As a pure vegetarian i even requested a vegetarian complementary breakfast and they provided the same..
Rooms were nice for one person to stay so if you are transitioning from male to any island or island to male or planning to Explore male city you can definitely book this as the hotel is nearby to all city attractions.
And complementary the view from room include a local football stadium i got to watch local Tournament happening that time
I had an excellent stay for work in Male, Maldives at the Samann Grand Hotel. In my assessment, the hotel provides the best hospitality, service and care amongst all
the hotels in town. I would like to specifically mention the elaborate complimentary breakfast and sumptuous meals
at the Cloud restaurant. Similarly, the reception, housekeeping and travel desk provide exceptional and personalised service. I would particularly mention the top class assistance provided by Ms. Fiona and Mr. Suraj.
Highly recommended.
We stayed only 1 night before heading to the resort the next day. The pick-up staff, Najad as far as I remember, was so nice and let us know information about the Maldives. The whole building including our room was very clean, and we had no issues with check-in/out, shuttle service to the seaplane terminal, and facilities including the water pressure, and toilet. Breakfast was served on the rooftop from 7 pm, and its quality was not bad. The staff was very kind and always got us to smile.
We spent the first and last night of our stay in Maldives at Tourist Inn Grand and it was absolutely amazing. We loved the accommodation in its every single aspect…it’s a brand new property, provided with everything you need, the staff is very friendly and helpful, room was very comfortable and clean, we loved the food provided at the bar and the breakfast was so delicious (pancakes and french toasts are a must try). Just a perfect stay, highly recommended!
The staff was excellent in arranging our PCR test and transit for our very early morning flight out.
The location is good if you are interested in getting to or from the airport quickly and without a boat ride, which was the main reason we stayed as this was an unexpected stop on our trip.
The breakfast buffet was adequate with plenty of options, and the hotel restaurant has good food at it's price.
Location is good. I spent here one night prior to my scuba diving trip. Room was cozy with small balcony. It is easy to get to hotel from the airport. There is a ferry transfer which takes 10 min from the port of the airport to the Male City. Ticket is only 1 USD one way. Just follow the sign when you gets out at arrival area (follow the way to the water). Breakfast was good.
Wonderful, friendly service and very good arrangement with Belle Amie restaurant making this a super convenient and excellent value for money stay.
The rooms are perfect for short to medium stays and there are bigger rooms for longer stays too. The transfers are seamless and well communicated for a really easy welcome to Male and the Maldives.
Excellent guest service
The room is perfect
Facilities are working well
The staff and hotel owner is very accommodating and helped me a lot to make my stay unforgettable
The hotel is accessible to all establishments and near the beach and in the green zone
I will definitely choose the same hotel when I go back to Maldives
The location of the Tour Inn is unbeatable. Situated amidst the vibrant city life of Male, it offers a serene oasis where guests can relax and rejuvenate. The hotel's proximity to popular attractions, shopping centers, and transportation links makes it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers.
The room was nice, good size, clean, hv all needed amenities.
The good thing is the hotel staffs are very nice, friendly, attentive.
The location of the hotel is good, not far from the city.
very comfortable room, clean and equipped. hotel guys were supportive. coffee at hotel corner was nice taste. Location is good. they provided airport pick up and transferred to the pier. Excellent
The location of this hotel is probably the best in Male city. Right behind the presidents house so its very safe too. The staff were friendly and did their best to accommodate me.
Everything was great and I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Male city.
Big rooms compare to other city hotels in Male. The staffs were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is clean and the staff was hospitable. It was not far from the airport, good if you want to stay for an overnight before you head to the resort.
