The location is in the midst of the bustling 5th avenue area, which goes on for blocks and blocks. Excellent food choices in all price ranges and excellent shopping and sight seeing in all price ranges. Lots of nightlife, and very close walk to a pretty beach.
The hotel staff was strange, and passively unfriendly enough for me to maybe not go back. I traveled with a girl friend of mine and we bought the transportation package. Our flight from Denver was delayed an hour and when we arrived there was no one waiting for us. We looked extensively for our names or a shuttle from the hotel. We asked people. Eventually we took another shuttle and when we arrived the hotel would not refund us the $40 apiece because they said someone from the hotel shuttle was there at the airport. But we are older, experienced travellers, and there was no one at the airport I'm telling you.
Next, they tried to give me a room that was directly by the front entrance. It was dark, and had a covered window that faced the street, at street level, with bars on it. Dark, horrible looking room, right by the front desk. They did give me a different room with 2 double beds facing the courtyard and pool when I requested it which was nice, except that I asked specifically if it was the kids pool and the guy said "It is, but there are no children staying at the hotel at this time senora". We went to show my friend to her room, and when I got back there were 3 kids jumping in the pool until 8:30 that night. And the next night. Hmmm. Really?
We scheduled massages for noon one day, arrived, and the front desk guy had no idea what we were talking about. He blamed the night guy but didn't apologize. He rescheduled us for 6pm, two hot stone massages. We go at 6, and sorry! No hot stones and only one "masseuse" so we had to go one after the other.6-7pm and 7-8pm. "Can you pay cash? I will wait here".
Finally, my friend came in from shopping with to-go food one night and asked the front desk if she could have a plate and fork to heat it in the microwave in her room. "Kitchen's closed" is all she got from the front desk guy. She went to the restaurant however and they were happy to give her a plate and fork to use.
