Marta, our housekeeper was awesome. Roberto, our groundskeeper, along with Tomas, was thoughtful, helpful, and on the spot when needed for electrical and water mishaps. Our cabin was on stilts, right on the beach, and wonderful.
The water and electric running out was only briefly a problem. Not having a good, clear sign at the entry made the hotel a little difficult to find. It would have been helpful to know initially that the helpers were located across the street.
The location was absolutely beautiful. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We loved awaking to the sunrise from our bed. We had no trouble with loss of power lack of hot water. We absolutely got what we paid for.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress was rock hard and the pillows were pretty bad also.Other than that we had a great time.
Location along the main road and on the beach, beach chairs, towels, umbrellas
Very musty room, made it tough to sleep; one huge bug; bed too firm; electricity went out every now and then; staff was not around much and could not help us when our airport shuttle didn't arrive
The beach and cabin are beautiful
The property is 7.5km down a road that has no public transport - that's a lot of taxi fees! Bars and restaurants near the property aren't cheap (although we found a taco joint to the right of the property which was more affordable).
Excellent staff. New manager Lorenzo pays close attention to detail and is extremely helpful.
Amazing location, you feel happily lost on a white beach
Very basic services
When I arrived they don't have the room that I reaerved previously (it was on mantainence) so the stuff just upgrade me to the front beach suites for the same price. Great place to rest and have a peacefull vacation.
That they don't have restaurant or a bar. But there are a few just some feet away.
The view is amazing Deluxe cabana is good for 4 persons Water pressure is good Wifi worked well Close to good restaurants
Fridge is not an fridge, it's a freezer
Small hotel Own patio with hammock Style Private beach Location
The Coral room is all in one, with the toilet in a "stall". Therefore there can be bad odors in the room.
Amazing location great price friendly staff. But definitely not a hotel- more a rental with a couple of on site staff.
Inside felt a little worn, but it wasn't bad for the price. Fridge freezer was rubbish and electricity intermittent
Very primitiv, but very nice cabin with all you need. Good WIFI - for shopping food and other things you have to go to Tulum. But there is a nice beach bar and coffee/breakfast place almost next door.
Great Idea in concept. Really nice waking up to the Caribbean Sea right outside your window.
Water was not available all the time. This included the ability to flush toilets and wash hands. Also I paid for a particular deal through this website yet they charged me regular price. There was water leaking from somewhere, maybe the broken pipe or possibly the toilet and there was no staff available to speak with regarding this no matter how much you rang the bell at reception. Wifi poor too. Such a pitty to write this as it did look like a beautiful place. My suggestion to the owners/management is to be available to your guests and to have things such as plumbing under control before renting a cabaña to guests. Also if you are going to charge that much for accommodation please ensure there is ample water for toilets and showers.
This place is amazing! We are a family of four and stayed in the Family (deluxe) Cabana. It was spacious and had everything we needed. The cleaning lady was awesome. Staff, although sparse were very nice/helpful. They raked the beached daily and there was always someone around. The wifi worked (great for two teenagers). The view absolutely incredible and such a serene place with amazing sunrises.
There was nothing we didn't like about Azucar. Yes the electricity went out nightly for short periods of time but the ocean breeze made up for it. The fridge is actually a freezer and didn't work very well until we moved it to another outlet and it was fine. There are no condiments nor much cutlery/pots/pans, but for our family it was more than enough. This is not a luxury resort, you know that now, so you wont be disappointed. :) (Hint -Take a physical printout of your reservation with you.)
Incredible location, right on the beach.
To be fair - I'm a little shocked from the room and place we are staying in... One lamp not working in the room. Lamp on the terrace beats with electric and not working Room is dirty and seems was used before our check-in... Refrigerator have a strange smell and as I understood - not working Power supply - I should be a wizard to charge my phone... Hot water several hours per day - seems nothing surprised after everything listed above. But the last point - I found that door to the room is easely to be opened without any key... Service is not response at all and was seen only when check-in and check-out (seems we are lucky that do not search them these 2 times) This is a lowest quality I had in my experience...
The Cabana Layout and beachfront location WiFi works great Electricity 24 Hours Great Water Pressure
The staff was not rude but not very friendly at all
We didn't need a lot of amenities. We needed a great beach and a comfortable place to stay. Azucar Hotel delivered!
It was a little warm for no a/c. But we knew we weren't paying for it when we made the reservation!
I absolutely loved it. Great for travellers who want to be left alone. Felt like we had our own private bungalow and had tulum all to ourselves. No food/amenities though. Great for independent travelers
The hotel is very basic, in terms of facilities. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel but there are plenty of options across the road. Our beachside cabana has a kitchen, a few items didn't work but we weren't to fussed. The location is amazing! We were staying somewhere nicer down the road but it was too far, so we decided to move, we found this place and extended our stay. Great value for money and group travelers. Get the beach side Cabana, so worth it!
Fridge didn't work, and fans weren't very strong.
A breath-taking experience. You are literally on your own part of the beach, in a treehouse. Once-in-a-lifetime. I couldn't recommend this enough.
Can't really rate the property as we got there to check in - waited an hour and a half looking for someone to help us with no luck. We had to leave and found somewhere else to stay.
The beach was beautiful. Soft white sand, clean, lots of chairs.
Front desk attendant more interested in his cell phone than us. Outside of our cabana was dirty. Someone's old flip flops and trash from their food all over the ground by the hammock. Rustic room but ok. Worst problem was with power. Very hot with only a fan for cooling. Too many mosquitoes to open door. Power kept going on and off all night so fan kept going off.
The 6 person room was spacious. The beach pristine. Best location. Staff very respectful. A little shy at first. Planning to return next year.
Wifi could be a little better. Lights at night are a bit dim for my taste and the electricity is turned of early morning understandingly because it's an Eco friendly hotel.
Location just can't be beaten with the crashing waves at your doorstep.
Staff very unhelpful.was checked in by the maintenance man. Power went off every night so the fan which is the only way if cooling died. Had a local mouse in the thatched roof that would come down and take any food. Woke at midnight to see a packet if biscuits on the move.
The location can not be beat. It is on an amazingly beautiful beach.
I didn't have a problem with anything personally because I did a lot of research and have been to Tulum a few times before. This place should not be categorized as a hotel. This is very misleading. It is a series of very rustic cabins on the beach. Even in "luxury" hotels in Tulum, electricity is frequently down--so a visitor needs to be aware that there will be periods when lights, fans, the fridge, and wi-fi will not be working--and it's ususally when you want them most. Learn some Spanish and just be prepared to be laid back and take it easy and you will enjoy your stay.
