I loved the beauty of the property itself and the feeling of being in a more secluded, jungle-like, natural environment! The lagoon pool was lovely and refreshing, even deep enough in parts to dive. It's a very serene, relaxing, quiet environment as others have said. My cabana/bungalow was lovely. The hosts/owners, Vanessa and Manuel, were exceptionally kind to me, even offering short rides for me given that I was alone and without a rental car. This is a family-run, low-key resort -- it was a pleasure getting to know their children too. I even played ping-pong and games in the pool with them! Vanessa recommended the Akumal Bay Beach to me as well (warm/easy to swim in water located at a nature preserve called Tsuuk Akumal Parque Natural - note, there is an entrance fee) and a beach bar/restaurant called Loi-Ha. If you go, try the fish tacos - made with grouper - fantastic!

We had a private room with a king bed and private bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean. We liked that we could use the hostel kitchen to store our food in the fridge. Reception was great, easy and very welcoming. The rooftop pool was beautiful and although we didn't use it, we did spend some time in the evening on the rooftop with the nice views and breeze.
We parked our rental car right outside on the street, where the nice receptionist, Lulu, said it would be safe. We enjoyed walking around the small town and got a beer at a local place. People in the town were very friendly.

I think it should be clearly stated that the ocean swimming and snorkeling on the property is quite limited unless you want to pay for a guide and wear a life jacket. The areas where paid guides take people are often crowded.
No groceries stores in the area, only 7-11 type shops with processed foods.
Breakfast (continental) was quite good. To upgrade to egg dishes was way overpriced.
Very few dinner options available. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. No evening dining at the hotel itself.
If you are not an ocean swimmer or snorkeler but just want to swim in a pool or lay on the beach this place would work for you.

Akumal is a nice town with a very nice beach and a great option to observe sea turtles in the Turtle bay, do a diving course or just chill at the beach. Unfortunately, you can't get to any of the beaches for free, all of the entrance is paid. We found the local guys who were shouting at us and always wanting money for something or trying to sell us something quite disturbing and some of them even rude to us as foreign visitors. The prices the beach are very high in the proximity od the beach. At the end of our stay someone ransacked our friend's room and soon after stole my handbag when we were sitting in a restaurant in Akumal town. I think there is a thief mafia operating around.

There is lots to Akumal not just a restaurant and a little beach. There are beaches, many different restaurants and cenotes. Tami and Elliot will help you understand the taxi system and also how to hop the combis (Public van service) that are cheap and easy to use. They are not chicken busses. There are cenotes everywhere. Some very tiny and some meandering through the jungle. An easy one is Cenote Azul. No real snorkeling but a beautiful place. Charge $10 dollars or much better rate if you pay on pesos. Use pesos as often as possible. Get pesos from the ATMs they have the best conversion rate. The condo beach is a bit of a walk, it who doesn’t need walking, but the cenote flows out into the ocean. Great a snorkeling. Big variety of fish. You can see the transition layer between fresh and salt water. I think our favorite place where we went twice was La Buena Vida restaurant on Akumal beach and after dinner walk up the beach And hitchhiking a golf cart ride back to the highway for a taxi ride ride north back to Sirenis. Most everyone speaks tolerable English but be respectful and learn some rudimentary Spanish like bathroom, beer, check please, thank you and please. Whew. Can you tell we had a great eight day trip?

It was a good place for our troop to convene - 7 in all.
It was a good place for our troop to convene - 7 in all. We had some fun - particularly at the shows. The food was good but not great. The staff was great. The beach was a disappointment - full of seaweed and rocky. Trucks on the beach at 7am sunrise a big turnoff. I would not return unless the beach situation improves.

I didn't spend time in Akumal proper- most of the time was on the resort, but there seemed to be a LOT of options for activities on that stretch of road between Tulum and Playa del Carmen, so as a starting point, finding a resort in Akumal is a great location. My friend and I took a 30min taxi to Playa del Carmen and a 20min ride to swim with dolphins. We also went with the wedding party to Tulum and a cenote which was gorgeous and that trip was very short as well. Lots to do in the area!
Amazing food, a'la carte restaurants, drinks and Service. Hotel Beach very nice located. Stuff do really great job there. They make sure you have all you need all the time. What also made our vacation special was entartaiment team! Great thanks for Victor for amazing morning joga and also Anahi, Valentino, Gustavo and others for lot of fun activities. Their Energy and Creativity for sure makes this place special. Hotel itself is beautifull place but great People working there is for sure the main reason for us to comeback there soon!!!!
It's conveniently located - local markets and restaurants are steps away from Itza Hotel; the staff were very nice and I had a great time staying there; I really enjoyed a quiet environment - no loud music at night like in most hotels in Playa and Cancun; beautiful beaches are very close as well, breakfast was included - . I highly recommend visiting Half Moon Bay, we accessed it via the restaurant - incredible water, very shallow and a ton of tropical fish. Will be back for sure

Villa Akumal is a great place for a comfortable stay in an intimate and quiet place. I was pleasantly surprised to see how close the apartment is to the beach. Staff at check-in very nice and polite. Private beach, very clean. Only a few sun loungers. It gives a great sense of comfort. Apartament are very spacious. My apartament have garden view but the rest apartament from the street side have only two windows. So remember, check what you are booking. You will avoid disappointment.
- the highest quality of hotel service, very kind, engaged and helpful
-variety of different kind of delicious food nicely served without any issues with reservations (in trs area) + access to all of the restaurants from palladium hotels complex
- wide range of activities (cooking classes, yoga, tequilla testing, diving, archery, shooting etc)
- trs infinity pool and Beach zone were very calm what gives great Opportunity to relax
- amazing chic cabaret show
Kind to us travellers! No BS. Great advice on area, wonderful roof top where breakfast is served. Really good too! 10 mins walk to beach area but this is a great spot on
A look at the heart of real Mexico - people, houses, colour, An easy experience. Beds great, lockers, kitchen to cook etc. super safe. Cenotes a 25peso ride away. The collectivo also runs from P and Tulmal. Relief from plastic towns!
the grounds were amazing and beautifully kept up. i loved their extremely Long Beach with so many different relax areas where you could always find a spot to enjoy.
i loved how nice the staff were. the food was very good, from the buffet to the restaurants. in my too two all inclusive resorts in the playa/Cancun area. and you can’t beat the deal, very affordable.
The beach and warm water is nice - there are fish which can be seen fairly close by. The security is very good and the hotel tries hard to have interesting restaurants but the food was mediocre. There was supposed to be nightly entertainment but we didn't see anything except one night there was a live band but it wasn't local Mexican music.
location, you get a nice view of the reef, some very nice (if a little dangerous because of how shallow) snorkeling sites right in front of the property, and your right in the middle between yal-ku and Akumal beach.
and you’re within 50m from a restaurant if you don’t feel like cooking for yourself.
the staff is great.
Fantastic location right at the beach, secluded, beautiful, quiet, clean swimming pools- our baby enjoyed a little one! We saw small turtles hatching at the beach and plenty of corrals and fish to the right from the hotel while snorkelling. We had an ocean view villa and it was above and beyond stay.
Very beautiful villa on the beach. We rented two apartments with other family, so we did have 1/2 of the villa. There is 4 apartments. Top floor apartment was on 2 floors. And master bedroom had most stunning sunrises and infinity pool. Akumal was on waking distance from the beach (ca 1,5 km)
Beautiful hotel and gardens. Beach was well looked after, clean and lots of loungers. Excellent food of a very high standard. and so much variety. Really attentive and courteous staff. Pools were immaculate and areas to suit everyone's needs. Can't say anything negative!
- The location is great, right at the beach. Unfortunately the beach in front of the hotel is just the parking place for boats, but its just a few steps to the beach entrance of the next hotel.
- The pool is really nice
- Parking right next to the bungalow
Can't beat the location. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The view was incredible! The beach gets less seaweed than other areas of the bay due to its direction and there is good snorkeling straight in front of Tan-ik
Our lovely hosts were very helpful and took their time to explain everything we needed. The hotel is located in a small town, where we felt very welcomed! The room was comfortable and rather quiet at night (we stayed only one though)
Location- great - the Pueblo is a nice small friendly Mayan town
The hotel is right in the center of town easily accessible by colectivo from both PDC and Tulum
The hosts are great with top notch cappuccino in the morning
Beautiful hotel and property. The walk to the beach was not more than a few hundred feet from our room. Staff is helpful and strives to care for the guests. Plenty of beach space, with sun coverage.
Kids loved the pool. Front desk staff was amazing very helpful and accommodating with everything!! We moved from bungalows to hotel room for a small fee to be closer to pool. Great experience
The beach was beautiful and was great for snorkeling. There were plenty of seats in the shade for getting out of the sun if you need a break. The room was a nice size and clean.
Grand oasis Akumal is perfect if you just want to visit Tulum as a day trip but still want relaxing all inclusive resort vibes! The beach water is crystal clear and clean!
