My best lifelong experience ever! I've spent 2 weeks on the beautiful island and Big Fish Hostel was the best choice to stay. Beautiful chilled place close to the ferry pier. Fast and free wifi, nice and friendly open air kitchen, where you can enjoy the mornings talking with people next to a coffee or you can just relax in the hammocks under the palm trees. The spacous colorful dorm has single beds, not bunkbeds with optional air conditioning and mosqito nets. Friendly people are from all over the world. Peter, the owner was very friendly, and he was trying to make us to feel comfortable. If you want to learn to dive or only spent your holiday with full of experience, Big Fish Hostel in Cozumel, I can kindly recommend for everybody!

If you want air conditioning it costs 1usd extra per day. There ar no coral reefs or sandy beaches in downtown, so if you want to dive or snorkel there, it is 40 minute walk or 7 usd taxi ride to get to one nice coral reef.

Relaxing new and clean charming hostel with everything you need as a diver. I've booked only one night but stayed 4! Great quiet but central location away from the noise and crowds but still close to everything, easy quick access from the ferry pier which is only 5 blocks. Peter, one of the owners is a great dive instructor, he not just teach but explains why we do things and builds super-confidence. They offer great dive courses and amazing+ really cheap daily dive trips for the certified divers. Peter also lives on the island and knows everything, just ask! They have plenty of bathrooms, free towels, a very nice outdoor kitchen and a beautiful tropical garden with hammocks and iguanas. I loved this place!

Cozumel is a hot and humid Caribbean island, 95 percent of it is covered by jungle. Be prepared with some repellant for the mosquitos at the outside areas in the city. The dorm and all the other rooms has huge mosquito nets installed and if you keep the door closed, there are no bugs at all! There are no reefs in downtown area, so if you want to snorkel or dive, the closest coral reef is about a nice 40 minutes walk or a 5 USD taxi ride away, which you can share with other guests.

Not much that I did like. I've stayed in SO many hostels and the only good thing about this one was the dorm style was nice, the wifi was good, a good kitchen area, and a great dive instructor, Jessica. Oh, and when I thought I found bed bugs through out my dorm, the staff was very quick to help fix the situation.... Even though nobody likes finding bugs in there bed...

Most things. I've stayed in probably over 100 hostels on my trip and this was by far the weirdest and least pleasant. For one, the owner was incredibly rude. He had an attitude with me the entire time I was there and knew NOTHING about the island (super unhelpful) - and others staying at the hostel said the exact same thing. There were not many other travelers staying there and I am pretty sure all of the reviews I had read about this place must have been fake because it was not even open yet when I made the booking based on all of the RAVE reviews. It's also not too close to the center and if you plan on diving, you have to pay for a taxi both ways which I think is super weird. Also, because it is such a new hostel, there was still a ton of work that needed to be done which was obvious and the atmosphere wasn't comfortable at all.

The place is new and clean, the owner very helpful and communicative. You have all facilities you need, including a big open air kitchen and even a public repellent :) details that matter :)

Still under construction so it does not look homey yet, but definitely has a potential. Quite far from the center, but if you like walking this can be a plus as well.

Staff are really nice here and happy to help whenever they can. I did a dive trip which was great. The internet is really fast. Relaxing place to stay. Once finished this will be a better place to stay.

Hostel had only been open a week so was still unfinished. There was no mosquito netting over the windows into the dorm and due to no aircon & only two ceiling fans the door & windows were always left open and hence there was always Mosquitos. There isnt much of a common area to sit around outside or inside. Kitchen was outside and full of bugs.
