The hotel doesn't use solar power like many of the others on the beach - it runs a loud generator which ruins the vibe. Make sure your room isn't right next to it...it's by the road so just ensure you get a beachfront room. They should invest in an eco-friendly power source to preserve the ethos of Tulum.
Los Lirios is a step up from the traditional cabana lodgings Tulum has offered through the years, but not as high end as some of the newer, uber-trendy boutique hotels. The result is a comfortable, relaxed and beautiful setting. There's no 'scene' here, although the 'hot' restaurants and bars are a very short walk down the beach road. The very clean rooms are directly on the beach and have A/C and modern bathrooms, which is great for those not into a total hippie backpack vibe. Each room has a private balcony or patio. There's also a full service restaurant on site with a good choice of food options. We stayed over New Year's and breakfast and dinner was included in our rate. Breakfast is a full buffet, very good. The week we went, Tulum was so crowded it was impossible to get into any of the cool restaurants without waiting for hours, so we ending up having dinner at the hotel too - which was a lifesaver.
The wifi is only in the restaurant, which is good because it forces you to 'turn off'....that's what Tulum is all about, right?
Highly recommend this hotel - worth the price, although it felt high when we booked it. Worth the money.
