Score from 27 reviews Very good
very friendly crue, lots of activities day and night, great food, not much mexican food though, great spa service.
When checking out, the system was not working and the gentleman thatbwas helping us was very rude, eventhough was not our fault.
Beautiful beach. Most staff tried very hard to make your stay comfortable and friendly. Upgraded package is a must.
ETC agents bugging you to "come for their free breakfast" just to sell you a fraudulent travel package. They are so friendly and tricky. The dont work for the hotel...they work for Exclusive Travel Club who is owned by GBS International. It is not hard to find very concerning reviews about this travel club/time share company
I loved the fact that this place had a wonderful beach. The room was great. The juice bar was perfect. The spa (massage) was great. Staff was friendly. I loved the fact that we had to walk from the beach to the reception. Loved the reception. It was pretty laid back. Lost and found works well. Most of the restaurants were great. Plenty of food and drinks. Overall, the place was spacious and well divided. The restaurants were away from the pool, which is a big plus!!!!
Manicure and pedicure were not good. They just did not have the proper equipment. The pedicure spa was a joke. They used a toy to soak/massage my feet. They did not have a professional pedicure chair. The cuticle remover was dull and the nail polish bottles were old and partially dried out. By the time I was done with my pedicure, I had to change color, so I had different colors for manicure and pedicure. A lot of work needs to be done at the nail salon.
Spending one week at the Catalonia Maroma Resort (Privileged formula, which I totally recommend), All inclusive, was a great and relaxing experience. The place is 40min from Cancun airport. The transportation to and from the airport is not provided by the resort, but it is very easy to set up your own transportation (for instance on supershuttle.com). You are going to realized those shuttles are very dependable. The beach is amazing. Once a week they even served grilled fish on the beach! Advantages of the Privileged Customer Status: free room service (anytime). This means you can have food and drinks delivered with a phone call without even having to leave the room. Privileged Beach reserved area, with nice and huge beach umbrellas You have 5 free dinners in any restaurant on the resort (all of them but 'The Terrace'), though alcohol comes with an extra charge. Of course, the other nights of your stay you can help yourself at the buffet (All Inclusive formula). You can always have breakfast or lunch at 'The Terrace', which is really nice since the place overlooks the beach and the ocean. One voucher for a dinner at 'The Terrace' is also provided. In addition, we were offered a free massage at the spa and a free romantic lobster dinner (they routinely charge 39USD per lobster for this). This was a really pleasant and exciting surprise from the management. Strong points: Excursions. The resort has an excursion desk which offers great (guided!!) trips to Tulum and Chichen Itza (among the others). Those trips are extremely comfortable and organized (food and refreshments are provided), not to mention prices are reasonable. You can book your trip even the day before. Totally a value for your money. You should really consider doing this. The staff/management. People are extremely professional and they are always willing to help with a smile. Great atmosphere. They are extremely kind and they work really hard to make your stay perfect.
The food is good to fair, not great
beach was beautiful, relaxed resort and great staff
the big groups of french and smoking near the bar
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. We got a lot of privileges in our stay as a honweymoon suite, lobster dinner and massages for two. It was really amazing. The food was great, staff was really friendly and good. And as mexican I can confirm that the food, service, and shows are really authentic. I recommend this hotel to everyone.
Excellent beach Great room with view of the Caribbean Sea Great food and service in all the restaurants, everyone works very hard but are also always smiling The 'jungle' part with the Coaties (small animal native to that part of Mexico) Jesus and Israel from the animation team giving some basic salsa dance lessons
Nothing really, although there could be more activities like the beach party in the evening.
This property is priced for what you get. The location is 30 minutes from cancun airport. The beach is great. The spa is well run and much better then you would expect for this resort. The beds are comfortable for Mexico. Our room had a nice balcony and hot tub. There are plenty of beach chairs so no need to wake up and reserve a seat. If you want a nice beach and on a budget and don't mind some meh food and drink and service as a trade off this is a good spot or you
-there are tons of rules, more then any all inclusive I have been to in the past. Coupons required for restaurants. Steep fees for lost towels. - the food is mostly fair to not great. The presentation and service at the restaurants was good but the food usually was not good at all. Buffet was the most consistent. Room service would often not answer the phone (let it ring for 15 minutes once before giving up). - drinks are super sweet and watered down. Beer and wine were safe bets. - fitness facility is old and very run down (many broken and rusted machines and equipment) - not accommodating for group travel. We see there for a wedding and had many problems trying to eat dinner as a group. - staff clearly have very rigid rules to follow. His often results in guests hearing no for basic requests and getting frustrated.
We had absolutely the best honeymoon at this resort. The staff we excellent, the room was fantastic, and the crepe station was our favorite! We will definitely be using booking.com and staying at this resort for our next trip to Playa Del Carmen!
Friendly and good service Beautiful clean beach Attractive hotel layout
Hassle with "greeters" at Cancun airport Inefficient checkout at hotel
The beach is amazing! Wi-fi everywhere.
Wi-fi signal is quite poor. Bathrooms are a little old-fashioned.
