Dinners were weak
Best resort I ve ever been..really. Service, food, beach, staff.. Everybody doing very well.
The location on the beach, with the pool and all the restaurant choices made this great Staff were helpful and attentive, thanks Vilma for all those drinks :) The Mexican restaurant was my favourite
Wifi didn't work near the pool Hair dryer was very small and not powerful at all (I only used it once though) It took a few days to get change for smaller notes which made tipping very challenging
Waiter, waitresses were very helpful and smiling all the time.
The music at the pool and at the beach was very loud so it was hard to take a nap. The jacuzzi by the pool was not working. The Time Share people woke us up early a couple if times to attend their presentations.
The warm Caribbean water with lots of beautiful fish and coral! The location and atmosphere of the resort was romantic and restful. We'll definitely be back!
The techno music played by the pool during activities made me feel like I was in a spin class every afternoon. It was a bit too loud as it drowned out the rhythm of the waves that lulled me to sleep on the beach. So we moved down the beach and found another quiet, and relaxing spot.
We loved our honeymoon suite and all of the amenities it came along with; the 30 min. massage, room upgrade, shirts, balanise bed for a day, candlelight dinner on the beach, in-room breakfast, etc. The pool was INCREDIBLE and the beach was even better. Staff was AMAZING. We have never encountered better people at any of the resorts we have been at. Our fridge was always stocked with waters, beer, snacks. Room service was so wonderful and quick. Once you learn your way around the place and all of the things that are included for you, this is a wonderful place to stay and play!
It was a little disconcerting how pushy they were on the time-shares. Luckily, we opted out of the "free breakfast" before-hand, which saved us THREE HOURS on our honeymoon (we saw one couple in the "torture chamber" for five hours one day - they just don't take "no" for an answer). The food at most places was really great, but there were some nights that did not match the consistency of the good food. Also, oddly - our biggest complaint (which is probably just ridiculous), you CAN'T sleep in or take naps during the day. We found that the house-keepers were actually moving all of the furniture every day to clean the rooms, so during daylight hours the property sounds like a war zone from inside the rooms.
Beach is beautiful and not crowded Quiet location Friendly staff
Food quality and variety. No milkshakes, no yogurt selection, awful coffee, drinks are mostly ice. A bit far away from towns and airport Definitely not a 5 star Spa lacks of water therapy (just a jacuzzi and 2 sauna rooms), body treatment is prohibitive
Friendly and helpful staff, great food, variety of food available, proximity to beach
Great location, close to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Coba. Far enough away to have a nice beach and peace and quiet instead of the business of Playa del Carmen. Very friendly staff. Nice beach.
Smoking is allowed except in restaurants. Very annoying. Wifi is sometimes spotty. The location is great for peace and quiet, but the hotel is in the middle of nowhere so there are no restaurants outside of the hotel nearby, or other activities, without taking a taxi or colectivo.
Location is great. Beach is great. There were some great individuals like Rosa and Ingrid by the pool.
Food is not good. The restaraunts said they closed at 11 but really closed at 10 or 10:30. Service is not good. The front desk people are down right rude. They were having problems with their credit card machine and the lady said are you sure you have enough money. Then told our travel companions they need a different card. The shows are so bad people regularly got up and left.So many times we walked passed employees and greeted them with an Hola then got blank stares. The goto move when asked a question is "no ingles". You address them in Spanish and again you get " no ingles". This place has so much potential but the lack of attention to customer service details makes us not likely to recommend or go back.
Not my first choice of a resort to return too. Guest services rude, some restrauant /bar staff good just inconsistent... Food was not good, our friends had a steak they said tasted like pure fat & quality was terrible... Just not overall good experience
Like the beach minus the fire ants (they should spray) and truly enjoyed Ingrid (beach/pool waitress), Rosa (event person) and the 2 David that worked in the restrauants. There great customer sevice made up for the other areas that lacked...
Room was fabulous Good variety of food choices Extremely clean Pool was amazing Beach was clean and beautiful Staff was helpful, happy, pleasant and professional. Beach and Pool chairs were clean, comfortable and plentiful.
Deserts were not that good Transportation to resort was not provided and caused some frustration
Everything is just perfect at this hotel, it's paradise! We went on our honeymoon and it was simply stunning! The rooms are gorgeous, the beach is beautiful and the staff can't do enough for you! We'd definitely go back! We miss it already!
Nothing! What an amazing place!
Best value for money!! The beach, pool & pool side staff were fabulous! Seriously that warm turquoise water and white sands are heavenly. Location wise it is perfectly situated halfway between Playa & Tulum so it's very easy to get around and explore if you feel like it! The restaurants were great and the no booking policy was a blessing! I would highly recommend this place for a great relaxing beachside break!
The hotel lost one of my bookings for 2 rooms so that resulted in a very lengthy dialog at 11pm at night at checkin! So be sure to have print outs of any booking from booking.com to save time (as they will have to print them out otherwise). They did honor the missing bookings and gave us a free 'upgrade' however two rooms were doubles instead of singles so people ended up sharing beds which really wasn't ideal! To prevent people reserving pool lounges you have to remember to bring your towel down pool side & bring it back to the room or be charged an extra fee. The system worked well but for the new arrivals, I totally wasn't made aware of this at checkin - so this is just a heads up!
The beach is wonderful! Unbeatable! The place and its surroundings are very beautiful. The hotel is very confortable and clean. The staff is very kind and well trained. We really enjoyed our holidays there!
The a la carte dinners were nice but nothing special. They could be improved.
The location, Xpu-ha is one of the loveliest, unspoilt beaches in the area. The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming and service was attentive and efficient. Keeping the natural mangroves, lagoons and long stone built walkway with Mayan style arches and palapa roofed architecture enhanced the whole experience as well as encouraging the local wildlife to make regular and delightful appearances. We enjoyed being able to sample fresh fish, salsa mexicana and ceviche every day at the buffets as well as some of the favourite Mexican, Asian and Italian dishes served at the 'no reservations needed' a la carte restaurants. The pool was great, the bars were laid back and fun to hang around when the musicians interacted with guests. Our upgrade to a four poster bed and huge walk-in shower, decorative tequila bottle and fruit bowl on arrival and mimosas available at breakfast were a wow factor. The animation team worked hard to provide plenty of activities but no pressure to join in if you just wanted to laze around in a quiet corner.Fresh and fluffy pool towels were provided every day without any hassle. Hard place to leave!
The 'towel game' played by many of the guests every morning to bag the sun loungers even when they weren't using them. There were always enough to go around so to monopolise the shaded pool areas all day was unfair on newly arriving pale Europeans who needed that shade for the first couple of days. More quesadillas at breakfast would have been great!
great facilities, super kind staff, gourmet cuisine, remarkable beach, ......
they should sweep each morning the kelp from the sand..... leaving it there is 1 point minus from 10!!! :-)
Tasteful environment; food better than expected; staff friendly and pleasant attitude; accommodation set in rain forest like surrounds; other guests were civilised.
One staff member was dismissive of me dining alone (in the Italian restaurant); sat me next to the kitchen door (when most of the restaurant was empty) and served food ridiculously quickly, so that I had a 3 course dinner in less than 30 minutes. Fortunately this was a one-off incident.
Good location for everybody who likes calm beautiful beaches away from city noise. Nice hotel personnel who was friendly and quick to help.
bad wifi internet becuase of low speed and connection. Good food variety, but quality could've been better.
This is a small resort in comparison to others in the area (250 rooms) but they know how to make it worth your while. The location, based on the quality of the beach, is unbeatable. The fact that it is truly adults only, priceless. Unrestricted a la carte dinners every night from a choice of 6 restaurants completes the package.
The abundance of guests from Europe and their habit of 'saving' their lounge chairs with a towel at wee hours of the morning is a downer. The a la carte dinners were nice but nothing to write home about, they could be a bit better quality something that it is possible for the area. The rooms would benefit with a small brochure detailing the amenities of the resort.
