Location couldn't be better. A couple blocks from the beach and just south of 5th ave, but far enough outside the main tourist area that we could still get a good night sleep even during carnival. Bed was super comfortable. An excellent deal for the price we paid.
If you don't have the exact address you will never find it and the address listed with Booking.com is not correct. Make sure you get the address from them. The breakfast a kind of meagre. If you need to travel on the cheap you'll be able to fill your stomach, but don't expect much more than that. The doors on the floor we stayed on all had a very loud squeak and woke us up a couple times at night. Some WD40 would go a long way.
We loved its location, 2 min from the nicest stretch of beach in Carmen. Breakfast was good, you get eggs which you prepare any way you want. We booked it on a deal witch made it worth the money, 1100 peso per night.
You should know that Che has 2 properties, the photos that look supernice and are more expensive are from the new house. The apartment was in the old house and did not meet our expectations. Weak waterpreassure/problem w shower. The fridge smelled so bad we didn't want to put anything in it. The kitchen in general was a bit smelly. The master (only bedroom with a door) was realy cold at night because the walls did not go up in the cealing, but there were mosquito nets there.
Friendly staff; Wifi; breakfast variety; location great/cleanliness excellent/generous with kitchen for meals other than breakfast.
Bed too small; 26 in place for small breakfast space, no hangers/closets in rooms; needs better attention to guests needs; furniture in room inadequate
Struggle to find it as we came the wrong way! Super helpfull staff. Lovely people work there. Nice & spotless place. Highly recommended!
The location was great- 5mins to the shopping and restaurant area and the ferry to Cozumel.
The bill. At the time I reserved, it cost 5070 mxn (mexican pesos) which translated to $304 usd. At time of checkout I was charge a whopping 25% more $382.20 usd which is 5580 mxn pesos.. I work in Finance and this is blatant robbery!!!!! The owner of che is a daylight thief and crook. Everyone else in Mexico was upfront about how much they charged except for this dueña!
The location is great. Located close to the beach, shopping and in a quiet safe area. Great breaky. Exceedingly clean!
No TV in the room. Wifi did not work for half our stay. The final bill was far in excess of the price we book the room for at booking.com (even taking taxes into account). Consequently we felt ripped off.
Close to everything
No reception 24 hours
Easy to come and go....private gated community...very comfy bed..50 mts from a awesome beach and 200 from 5th ave......Picturesque
too minimal....but they just aquired this addition....no place for clothes....so they stayed in the suitcase....no terrace furniture
No closet or any other place to store the luggage in the room. Tiny bed. Shared bathrooms always dirty. Poor breakfast and you will need to clean up the dishes yourself. They will charge you 16% + 3% on top of the price given by Booking. On top they will add 4% if you pay by credit card.
Location was great. Its something different.
A bit pricy
Location. Fresh orange juice at breakfast.
Badly delayed check - in. Forced to wait several hours for our room, and checked in after 18:00 (it was christmas eve !!!) Toilets in general very poorly prepared: the toilet flush in our room was broken (the hotel service did not react on our remarks to fix it). The cleaning service did not exchange dirty towels (after several remarks we finally got our towels exchanged - on the third day of our 4 nights stay!!!). The curtain in the bathroom was not fixed properly which caused a huge flood in the bathroom every time we took shower. The curtain was not only falling down but also too short !!! The wi-fi did not work properly in our room (it worked well only in the common - area). In the early morning there was no one available to check us out. The payment by card is charged 4%. They offer very bad exchange rate for USD. (you should change the USD in town when paying in Pesos) In the suit bed could have been a bit wider - we did not feel it is a king size double bed. In general we are very not satisfied, we paid a lot (115 EUR /night) but the service we received feels like a low budget hostel!!!!!!!! totally not recommendable!!!!!!!
Huge, beautiful room on the first floor. Beach access across the street. Quiet location. Easy walk to ADO bus station, ferry, and everything in Playa del Carmen. We didn't use them, but our room and common area had a small kitchen. We would stay here again if we ever came back to Playa.
Place was hard to find with no signage. Even the cab driver had difficulty finding it. Mapquest gave wrong directions. There is not consistent "front desk" coverage, but you can arrange via email to have someone meet you to drop off bags if you arrive before check in. This could be a problem if you arrive early and go out for the day with an unknown return time to check in. Bed was on a slight slope so we rolled to the left all night. The shower needs a head as it blasts out in a single stream and gets the entire bathroom wet. These are minor complaints to us. Overall stay was great!
+ Well located (2 mins from the heart of playa (ferry to Cozumel) without being in the tourist ghetto. In PlayaCar, very nice and calm area of Playa. + Room with kitchenette that is really practical (ask for the ''azul room'' with a really nice and big screened in kitchen in the jungle- so great!) + very clean, bathroom is really nice with the sink design with seashells built in. + really nice staff that helped us try to find a place in tulum. Not very warm though but otherwise helpful. We stayed here earlier this year in April and we must say it was a little better then even though it's still a good find. I recommend it for the price.
- Breakfast included is ok, not the greatest I've seen, it seems they are cutting down on what they are offering since we were last here. Only hard boiled eggs, toasts, super sweet cereals, tea and coffee and cheap hot dogs cut up and pan-fried. Not much fruit, only pineapple this time and last time they offered watermelon. They could offer more fruits and gluten-free alternatives (my friend is allergic to gluten and could hardly eat anything from what they offered. - I don't know what happened to the pillows but they were awful this time. Really thin and no support. We asked for more, but the girl at reception said they had none to spare. They ended up finding one more (for 2 people). Not much better. They didn't even have a fitted sheet on the mattress, just a simple sheet laid on there. -There was mold on the front of the storage cabinets in the room that wasn't there in April. Don't know what happened there, but it looks unclean. - There could be more equipment in the kitchen, there is not enough cuttlery for two or a chopping board. I guess they are scared people will leave with them. - There is no ambiance in the living area. We thought we would meet other travelers but after two times here, it doesn't seem to be the case. It's more a bed and breakfast for people in transit. Be careful when booking with Booking.com, the hotel add a 19 % surcharge on top of the price booking gives. It wasn't like this in April and they changed their policy so it's a bit more expensive than it was and the quality of the offering is a little less. Still recommendable though
Good location in a quiet and safe area, close to the best beach in Playa Spatious apartment with kitchenette Comfortable common area with kitchen and terrace Friendly and helpful staff
The WiFi network was unstable and stopped working several times
The location is faboulous and the house has a great character that probably comes from its original owner.
The staff running the place do not take much care of the guests. The house is not very clean expecially some of the rooms. Furthermore, after two days of our stay the manager asked for the full payment (which sometimes happens) but they charged 4% more for the payment with credit card which was not written in the Booking.com advertisment. We made a mistake and paid and after that we had all kind of unconveniences. We were relocated three times during our stay of 6 days: the first time because the room we booked was busy, the second time because the room we were occupying was reserved by somebody else, the third time because the room we got was full of bedbugs. In the last case we had a heavy discussion with the manager to be moved in a clean room, the one that she was offering us was even worse. We were biten even there!!
Location to the beach, harbor and city.
Windows in our room opens directly to the street. You cannot keep curtains open in such aquarium.
It's in a great location right at the start of 5th Ave near the bus stop and quiet beach. The staff were soo friendly, we got there early they offered us food, drink, beach towels for a swim and sorted out earlier checkout. Breakfast was simple but amazing especially when doing tours you don't have to worry about what you will eat.
For the price there isn't anything to complain about. A little gem
This place was great! We stayed in two different rooms, one on the floor with reception and one on the bottom floor (blue room). The middle floor room lacked privacy, but the room itself was large and comfortable. The blue room on the ground floor was probably the nicest overall hotel room I ever stayed in - it felt more like a 1 bedroom apartment. It was not overly sterile, and had a lot of character. We also stayed here for about $40 a night because we booked so late - an amazing deal! I would have easily paid the full price without complaint. Highly recommend!
Breakfast was a bit thin on options, but it was enough to get out of the hotel and exploring (which is what you should be doing anyway)
Fantastic quiet location next to a jungly plot of land and a 5 minute walk to the beach and La Quinta and the bus stop. Couldn't ask for a better location! The house was really cute and my room was enormous with tons of natural light and a comfortable bed. The DIY breakfast and community kitchen is a great idea. Fast Wifi and a nice lounge area and water for refilling bottles.
The only thing I noticed is that this hotel is not as sparkling clean as some Mexican hotels. I suspect this is because of the community kitchen, and tourists are lazy and don't do a good job cleaning up after themselves so the floors were a bit dirtier than normal for a Mexican hotel.
this is a very nice hotle , close to the beach , in the quiet area of Playa .... the room is big, the bed is very comfrtable and the bathroom is superb!!! highly recommend
a bit expensive ...
Perfect location, king room was very comfortable, the bed is really huge and it felt more like an apartment than a room...lovely mexican style, spacious. It was like an oasis on our backpacking trip. It is great that there are hotels like this, cosy, comfy, close to the beach and for a good price
The location was awesome. It is right behind the Playacar Palace Hotel and very close the everything. Initially we walked past it and went WAY too far. It's about a 5 minute walk from the ADO station and steps from 5 Ave. it's about a 2 minute walk to the closest public beach. The staff was great and very friendly. Rooms were large, had a mini fridge and AC. We didn't have a kitchenette but had access to the communal kitchen. Breakfast was fruit, coffee, eggs, cereal and bread. Nothing fancy, but def nice in the morning.
A great place - you get all the advantages of a hostel (nice big common area where it's easy to meet other travelers, personal attention from very friendly staff) while still getting an awesome private and quiet room with a jungle view. Location is AWESOME - really quiet, but only a 5-10min walk from the heart of Playa del Carmen where all the action is, and right next to Playacar Beach, the best beach in Playa (no rocks, only smooth white sand!). We've tried all the beaches and liked this one much better than the beaches next to fancy 5-star resorts on the Northern end of Playa. (There are no showers or shade on the beach itself, but it's so close to the hotel that it hardly matters). In the hotel itself, the staff was very good at accommodating special requests (e.g. allowing us to keep the outside door key longer than checkout time to take an extra shower in the late evening and grab our stored luggage) - we really liked that! The area where hotel is located is very pleasant, huge beautiful jungle trees with shade, etc. Hot water was always available (but you do need to let the water run for a minute or two to get it).
WiFi didn't work a lot of the time. (Signal was very strong, but it still didn't work... Badly configured router?). Reception is not 24hrs which makes things a bit more difficult, but staff was very helpful in finding ways to get around this when it was a problem (and you still can enter and leave 24hrs a day of course). Plumbing is old (can't flush paper down toilet), but that's the case in a lot of places in Mexico. Hotel can be hard to find even for locals, keep in mind it looks like a regular (but big) house with no hotel sign on the front.
B&B very well located, but not easy to find
Something should be done with electricity in the rooms, opened electric plugs, lights switches destroyed - seemed quite dangerous. Room clean, but udated. Almost now wifi in the room.
