The location is faboulous and the house has a great character that probably comes from its original owner.

The staff running the place do not take much care of the guests. The house is not very clean expecially some of the rooms. Furthermore, after two days of our stay the manager asked for the full payment (which sometimes happens) but they charged 4% more for the payment with credit card which was not written in the advertisment. We made a mistake and paid and after that we had all kind of unconveniences. We were relocated three times during our stay of 6 days: the first time because the room we booked was busy, the second time because the room we were occupying was reserved by somebody else, the third time because the room we got was full of bedbugs. In the last case we had a heavy discussion with the manager to be moved in a clean room, the one that she was offering us was even worse. We were biten even there!!

Location to the beach, harbor and city.

Windows in our room opens directly to the street. You cannot keep curtains open in such aquarium.

It's in a great location right at the start of 5th Ave near the bus stop and quiet beach. The staff were soo friendly, we got there early they offered us food, drink, beach towels for a swim and sorted out earlier checkout. Breakfast was simple but amazing especially when doing tours you don't have to worry about what you will eat.

For the price there isn't anything to complain about. A little gem

This place was great! We stayed in two different rooms, one on the floor with reception and one on the bottom floor (blue room). The middle floor room lacked privacy, but the room itself was large and comfortable. The blue room on the ground floor was probably the nicest overall hotel room I ever stayed in - it felt more like a 1 bedroom apartment. It was not overly sterile, and had a lot of character. We also stayed here for about $40 a night because we booked so late - an amazing deal! I would have easily paid the full price without complaint. Highly recommend!

Breakfast was a bit thin on options, but it was enough to get out of the hotel and exploring (which is what you should be doing anyway)

Fantastic quiet location next to a jungly plot of land and a 5 minute walk to the beach and La Quinta and the bus stop. Couldn't ask for a better location! The house was really cute and my room was enormous with tons of natural light and a comfortable bed. The DIY breakfast and community kitchen is a great idea. Fast Wifi and a nice lounge area and water for refilling bottles.

The only thing I noticed is that this hotel is not as sparkling clean as some Mexican hotels. I suspect this is because of the community kitchen, and tourists are lazy and don't do a good job cleaning up after themselves so the floors were a bit dirtier than normal for a Mexican hotel.

Perfect location, king room was very comfortable, the bed is really huge and it felt more like an apartment than a room...lovely mexican style, spacious. It was like an oasis on our backpacking trip. It is great that there are hotels like this, cosy, comfy, close to the beach and for a good price

The location was awesome. It is right behind the Playacar Palace Hotel and very close the everything. Initially we walked past it and went WAY too far. It's about a 5 minute walk from the ADO station and steps from 5 Ave. it's about a 2 minute walk to the closest public beach. The staff was great and very friendly. Rooms were large, had a mini fridge and AC. We didn't have a kitchenette but had access to the communal kitchen. Breakfast was fruit, coffee, eggs, cereal and bread. Nothing fancy, but def nice in the morning.

A great place - you get all the advantages of a hostel (nice big common area where it's easy to meet other travelers, personal attention from very friendly staff) while still getting an awesome private and quiet room with a jungle view. Location is AWESOME - really quiet, but only a 5-10min walk from the heart of Playa del Carmen where all the action is, and right next to Playacar Beach, the best beach in Playa (no rocks, only smooth white sand!). We've tried all the beaches and liked this one much better than the beaches next to fancy 5-star resorts on the Northern end of Playa. (There are no showers or shade on the beach itself, but it's so close to the hotel that it hardly matters). In the hotel itself, the staff was very good at accommodating special requests (e.g. allowing us to keep the outside door key longer than checkout time to take an extra shower in the late evening and grab our stored luggage) - we really liked that! The area where hotel is located is very pleasant, huge beautiful jungle trees with shade, etc. Hot water was always available (but you do need to let the water run for a minute or two to get it).

WiFi didn't work a lot of the time. (Signal was very strong, but it still didn't work... Badly configured router?). Reception is not 24hrs which makes things a bit more difficult, but staff was very helpful in finding ways to get around this when it was a problem (and you still can enter and leave 24hrs a day of course). Plumbing is old (can't flush paper down toilet), but that's the case in a lot of places in Mexico. Hotel can be hard to find even for locals, keep in mind it looks like a regular (but big) house with no hotel sign on the front.

B&B very well located, but not easy to find

Something should be done with electricity in the rooms, opened electric plugs, lights switches destroyed - seemed quite dangerous. Room clean, but udated. Almost now wifi in the room.

Florence, the manager, was helpful in every way with whatever questions or problems we had. On the outside it looks like a beautiful whitewashed place on the Greek isle, Santorini. Wifi everywhere. The room was spacious decorated in a rustic way with animal murals on the walls, lots of wood and beautiful huge Palladian windows with stained glass. Nice large fridge. Guests could use the big common kitchen any time; and fruit, cereals, eggs, bread, coffee, tea, condiments etc. were provided. There was a very nice big common living room with computer and tv and a nice big common balcony.

The king-size bed was hard. A nice, thick mattress pad would have helped.

Florencia and everyone who worked there were extremely helpful and nice. They were very generous with their time and the facilities. The kitchen was nice to have and breakfast in the morning was great to have also. My wife got to make fresh juice everyone morning which made her happy. I would stay at the CHE Bed and Breakfast again!

The toilet in our downstairs room didn't work very well, but Florencia allowed us to move upstairs so I can't really complain. She was very hospitable.
