Centrally located in the historic district of Merida, Mexico, this colonial hotel is near a variety of interesting attractions and offers convenient services for a comfortable vacation. Hotel del Peregrino is just steps from city attractions such as La Plaza Grande, the Governor's Palace and the Saint Idelfonso Cathedral. The hotel's own travel agency can help arrange tours to nearby archeological sites and cities. Once a colonial house, the Peregrino Hotel has been completely remodeled in the traditional Yucatan style. Before exploring the area, guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast on the hotel's central patio. Guests can also take advantage of the hotel's available kitchen to prepare lunch or dinner, then enjoy a refreshing drink in the Palapa Bar. I stayed 5 nights. The building is well-cared for, Peregrino provides an excellent breakfast, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I was disappointed in the size of my windowless room, no. 5, so small the double bed is pushed into the corner to accommodate it and still there is not enough clearance for the bathroom door to open all the way. There really is no place to put one’s suitcase. And the WiFi signal to Room 5, which is advertised as available throughout the hotel, was so weak, slow and unstable it was not usable. I asked to move to a different room my first night at Hotel del Peregrino but was told there was nothing available so for the next five days and nights my laptop and I had to park in the lobby -- hot during the day, mosquito-laden at night -- in order to go online. The hotel's location is a dud, there's nothing around for blocks. (I am recommending Hotel del Peregrino to other travellers, with the reservations I have cited above.)

The English speaking staff were must helpful with planning the day, arranging tours and getting taxis. Breakfast around the table with other guests was great as most were from around the world so we could compare where we had visited and what to see next.

The staff was outstanding! Our flight had been delayed so we arrived late at night, but they were there waiting for us and graciously showed us to our room. The next day, they helped us obtain a new rental car, because our reserved car (booked through a different company) had been given to someone else. They had the rental car brought to our hotel for us, and made sure that the car company gave us a fair price and did not charge us for extras that we did not request. They spoke English very well and translated for us with the rental car company. Without them, we would have had a much harder time. The hotel itself is very charming and clean, just like the photos, and is located in the central district. We very much enjoyed our stay - highly recommended!

Nice hotel with a decent breakfast and they offer the use of the kitchen for preparing your own lunch and dinner. Perfect for backpackers. Wifi works. Location - It is a good way out from the centre of town. The room whilst decent smelt like it hadn't been opened in a while.

The staff were extremely courteous and helpful and they all spoke English. They were able to arrange tours for us to Uxmal and Chichen Itza. The hotel itself was a small beautifully restored 2 story building close to the main square but very quiet with a 3rd floor accessible by an outside staircase. I felt we got great service, good value for our money and I would stay here again.

The staff was very helpful, arranging tours, helping with the free wi-fi that wasn't working for me, and calling to check on a tour that didn't pick me up. It is in the historical center, but a long 6 blocks or more to the plaza.
