El Taj Oceanfront & Beachside Condo Hotel  

Very helpful and friendly staff. Good location right on the beach.

El Taj is in the heart of Playa del Carmen. All the surrounding cafes and clubs play their own soundtracks. It was a little irritating in the morning or evening when you just wanted to relax on the beach or terrace. But the rooms are very well sound-proofed and you could not hear anything inside with the AC on.

Unfortunately our room didn't had soundproof windows and we had to hear the music from the nearby discos everyday from around 12am to 4-5am. The staff gave us a small discount, but we are totally shattered after two weeks of bad sleep. I used ear plugs which helped a bit, but some times I could hear the music even with the earplugs on. The hotel is quite good, so it is a shame that this issue is not taken care of. I would recommend everyone considering this hotel to call the reception and ask for a room with woundproof windows or in the side of the hotel that is farthest away from the discos.

The hotel is very nicely decorated and well furnished. I stayed with my wife and two children in a 2 bedroom apartment with two bathrooms and fully equiped kitchen. It includes dish washer, fullsize fridge, oven, microwave and coffe maker. The apartment also includes washing maschine and dryer what is nice for families with children or even for who do not like to travel with a lot of luggage, Our apartment included plenty of electronic gadgets, like 3 lcd tvs, sound decks for ipods and radios. Both rooms included electronic safes. The hotel rate included complimentary parking, beach club, gim and a massage. It is located very close to the 5th avenue, between 12th and 14th streets, where you can find nice restaurants and shops. All staff was very friedly and helpful and having breakfast on the beach is a good way to start the day. I truly enjoyed my 3-day stay at El Taj and would recommend it to anyone who want to use Playa as a base point to visit the parks like Xel-Ha and X-Caret, to visit Cozumel, to go for diving or snorkling tours, to spend the evening walking along the 5th avenue or enjoying the many night clubs closeby. It is realy very relaxing to enjoy Playa without needing to drive a car after drinking some mexican beers and margheritas. The El Taj is highly recommended, to families with young or older children.

The only point that may bother someone who is very sensitive is that some night clubs are about one block from the El Taj. I must highlight that the music during late night did not affect me at all, and the apartment is quite well sound insulated, specially if the air conditioning system is on. I just believe it may be an important alert to people that have not been to Playa before and expect to stay in a very quiet environment.

We have stayed at 5 star resorts all over the world. We are frequent travelers to Mexico. El Taj is the best hotel that we have stayed at. The service was excellent. The location is perfect for those that like to be close to restaurants and nightlife while staying in a quiet and private location. I cannot say enought about how great the El Taj is. We uses Trip Advisor as a guide and this time they were right. El Taj us ranked #2 for hotels in Playa del Carmen...I Agree. We will be back!

Great staff, very helpful and courteous, beautiful grounds and architecture, luxurious room, great location.

I absolutely loved the oceanview the hotel had, the staff was always friendly and responded to our request effective immediately. Everything was a walking distance and had a great secluded spot. The design of the hotel was beautiful and elegant. I will definitely recommend this condo hotel again and will be staying there whenever I return.

I didn't like how they had certain options of eating at the Indigo hotel at certain times of the day. We were told we could order room service from the menu and once we attempted they replied telling us they had changed the menu and were only serving sushi and pizza at the time. Also there were just a little bit of issues with the door lock and one night the rain leaked through. Thankfully nothing was damaged and the staff responded to our requests pretty quickly.

Très belle hôtel, avec des chambres plus que sympa. Le cadre est asez idyllique. Un personnel attentif et un bon beach club.

La plage du beachclub est encombrée par les bateaux des pêcheurs et des algues. Il faut aller très loin pour que l'eau monte. Il existe un ponton pour gagner du temps mais sans échelle donc impossible d'y remonter! Il faut donc marcher un peu pour pouvoir se baigner.

Bellissimo!veramente bello! Tutto pulitissimo, personale molto cordiale ed efficiente. Il ristorante, l'Indigo Beach ha un cuoco di ragusa e il mix tra I gusti italiani e quelli messicani è perfetto! Gli appartamenti sono ad un passo dal centro e ogni sera è piacevole cercare un ristorantino nuovo da provare. Piscina con temperatura dell'acqua perfetta!

L'unico neo sono le barche di fronte la spiaggia...il che significa ogni tanto odore sgradevole della benzina e difficoltà nel volersi fare il bagno. Ma basta spostarsi un pò!

O conforto e facilidades do condomínio era exatamente o que buscavamos. Apesar de estarmos no hotel, tinhamos a sensação de estar em casa. A proximidade com a 5 avenida foi tudo de bom! Os funcionários foram muito atenciosos, agradecimentos especiais para Ivette e Mirian, e tudo funciona.

A praia em frente tinha uma concentração grande de barcos parados.

Alla var så trevliga och gästvänliga. Det var riktigt lyxigt hotell med bra frukost och fräscha lägenheter.
